Postlude Prayer of Confession Oh Lord, our God, we had a plan for our life that was shattered, and we can’t get over that. We don’t see where you are leading us or what is next, and we lose heart. Sometimes it seems our entire life is detoured. It is hard to keep living for you, to keep our character, and to make godly decisions in the darkness of the detour. Lord, forgive us for our despair. Forgive us for not seeing the point of the people and places we meet on the detour. Forgive us for not trusting that you can take our detour and do something beautiful for us and others through it. Lord, make something of our hurt and sorrow that points us to you. Lord, give us faith to live a day at a time. And now, hear the prayers of our hearts from the depths of the detours we are on…
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table for me in the presence of my enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord.
