Pastor: Who has believed what we have heard? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

People: Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases; yet we account him stricken, struck down by God and afflicted. Pastor: But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, ALL: And by his bruises we are healed. —from Isaiah 53:1, 4-5

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53:1-6 Leader: This is the Word of the Lord People: Thanks be to God Anthem Second Word from The Seven Last Words of Christ...........ThĂŠodore Dubois Nathan Munson, tenor; Stephen McCluskey, bass

Verily, thou shalt be in Paradise today with me. Amen, so I tell thee. Hear me, O Lord, and remember me, When Thou comest into Thy kingdom. Prayer of Confession Merciful God, on this Good Friday we ask for grace to see your cross with fresh eyes. The instrument of your death has become mere adornment in our world. We see the familiar shape without remembering what it means. We tell a familiar story without giving thanks for what it accomplished. We hear your invitation to take up a cross without paying the price it demands of us. Forgive our sins and make us ready to follow where you lead, even to the darkest places of our world. Hear us now as we offer our silent prayers of confession . . . Assurance of Forgiveness *Hymn of Response O Sacred Head Now Wounded...................................................PASSION CHORALE Page 6 Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
