Planting the Seeds of God’s Kingdom
Tonight nearly one billion people - more than a tenth of the planet — will go to bed hungry. What if we could give people the means to make their own, sustainable meals? A seed creates hope. This year we will join together to provide seeds for 250,000 family and community gardens. Each garden will feed six to eight people for an entire year, plus give seeds for the next planting season. A single garden has the power to transform a community from starvation to sustainability in a single growing season. Be the hands and feet of Jesus, and grow the kingdom of God through Peachtree. Here’s how to help: Make a gift today by designating “SPROUT” in the memo line of your check or by placing cash in one of the Special Offering envelopes. Mark October 4 - 6 on your calendar to join us for the Peachtree Sprout Seed Packing event. 2

Today’s message I Believe In Doubt Scripture: John 20:24-29 Preacher: Vic Pentz, 8:45, 10:00 and 11:15 a.m. Today in our worship we celebrate this truth: Jesus is alive! Right here, right now, through ordinary days of work, parenting and school, Jesus lives among us. Our worship is not simply a remembrance but a proclamation of a present and future hope in Jesus Christ. EASTER GIFT: In celebration of Easter, please accept a special gift from Pastor Vic. As trash that becomes treasure, once discarded sea glass has become a unique collector’s item. Jesus said, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ’The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?” Use your gift of sea glass as a daily reminder of the risen Jesus, who turns the brokenness of our lives into beauty. PEACHTREE’S FLORAL CROSS: For 20 years, the magnificent floral cross on the front lawn has been a beautiful witness to the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday for all that drive down Roswell Road. Special thanks to Sharon Clark and her decorating team, Kathy and Frank Bergmann, Judy and Jim Bicknell, Charles Clark, Barbara Malm, Cindy Edwards and Stacia Blau. Visit the cross before or after worship and one of our greeters will help your family capture an Easter photo.

EASTER SUNDAY Assemble in god’s name Prelude Sonata in F Major.........................................................................Jean Baptiste Loeillet Setting by Rich Mays
Chiming of the Hour **Life of the Congregation *Call to Worship Pastor: Christ is risen! People: Christ is risen indeed! Pastor: Christ is risen! People: Christ is the King of Glory! Pastor: Shout “alleluia” for death has been swallowed up in life! ALL: Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Give praise to God We can scarcely imagine Easter without singing this beloved hymn by Charles Wesley, dating to 1739. Strangely, the composer’s brother John Wesley omitted this hymn when he published a collection of hymns in 1780. We gladly include it in our worship on this Easter Sunday.

Song of Exaltation, by the great 20th century composer John Ness Beck, uses scripture passages from I Chronicles, Job, Amos and Psalm 96, calling all of creation to rejoice and proclaim the reign of the Living God.
Song of Exaltation............................................................................John Ness Beck The Chancel Choir H ath the rain a father? Who hath begotten the drops of dew? Canst thou send lightning to cause it to rain on the earth, To satisfy the waste ground? Have we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? Who hath gathered the wind in His fists? Who can number the clouds in wisdom? He that formeth the mountains and createth the wind, The Lord, the God of hosts is His name! Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, And let men say among the nations: thy God reigneth! Let the sea roar and the fullness thereof; Let the fields rejoice, and all that is there-in; And let men say among the nations: thy God reigneth! Blessed be the Lord God of Israel forever and ever! Sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Give unto the Lord the glory due His name. Amen, Amen! Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 *Affirmation of Faith: The Apostle’s Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy catholic church; The communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting. Amen.

The Day of Resurrection by 8th C. Greek poet, John of Damascus, begins with the Old Testament Passover story, a metaphor for Christ’s resurrection. The blood of the lamb painted around the door told the angel of death to “pass over”—letting all within the household live. In stanzas 2 and 3, we along with the entire cosmos praise the risen Lord. What will Christ’s resurrection mean for your life this week?
The 6th movement of Brahms’ most famous work, A German Requiem, takes its text from I Corinthians 15:51-55, in which the apostle Paul affirms our own resurrection through the death and victory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
*Congregational Response The Day of Resurrection..................................................................... LANCASHIRE The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad; The Passover of gladness, the Passover of God. From death to life eternal, from this world to the sky, Our Christ hath brought us over, with hymns of victory. Now let the heavens be joyful! Let earth the song begin! Let the round world keep triumph, and all that is therein! Let all things seen and unseen their notes in gladness blend, For Christ the Lord hath risen, our joy that hath no end. Pastoral Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Offering Our Gifts Here on Earth from A German Requiem.......................Johannes Brahms The Chancel Choir Stephen McCluskey, Baritone Here on earth have we no continuing place, But yet we seek one to come. Lo, I unfold unto you a mystery: We shall not all sleep when He cometh, But we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, At the sound of the trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, And the dead shall be raised incorruptible, And we shall be changed. Then what of old was written, The same shall be brought to pass. For death shall be swallowed in victory. Grave, where is thy triumph? Death, O where is thy sting?

Listen to god’s word read and proclaimed I Believe in Doubt.....................................................................................Vic Pentz Senior Pastor John 20:24-29....................................................................................Pew Bible, page 1687 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Go in god’s name Crown Him with Many Crowns was written by two Anglican clergymen over a period of 23 years. In this picture of worship in heaven in which we take part, we see Jesus Christ, the Lamb, who bore the crown of thorns as he suffered on the cross. But he now reigns in victory as the living Lord of love, peace, and all eternity.

In her practice, Kate Ferguson has found consistently that parents want support and clarity on how to communicate with their children in emotionally healthy ways. A first step is having mom and dad join forces. This workshop will equip parents to parent with increased confidence and fun - trusting that they are raising emotionally intelligent people.
