Today we honor moms, who through great faith and perseverance protect and care for their children. Such a woman came to Jesus, seeking healing for her suffering daughter. Jesus tested the woman, and his disciples, with an initial refusal to help. But while His disciples tried to send her away, she refused to go. In so doing, she displayed a tenacious faith, and a deep love for her child. Today we celebrate the tenacious faith of moms. “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. —Matthew 15:27–28
