Amen.

Go in God's Name Hymn of Response* How Great Thou Art

Invitation and Benediction*

Placing the Bible Prayer of Confession  Merciful and generous God, while it’s true that every good gift comes from you, we also know that your gifts are not equally measured out. Some have more than enough and some have less than enough. Forgive us when we are jealous of those who have more. Have mercy on us when we look down on those who have less. Teach us how much is enough. And when we have enough and even more, strengthen us to imitate you through greater and greater generosity. Hear us now as we offer our confessions to you…

We all have stories of God’s faithfulness— to us, to our families, to our coworkers, to our friends. And we’re promised in scripture that he is always working “for the good of those who love him” (Rom. 8:28). But sometimes in the trials of life, it can be difficult to see God’s plan at work. God’s timeline is much larger than ours—infinite, in fact—and in our finite viewpoint, there are times where it can seem like he’s forgotten about us. It’s helpful to step back and remember those moments in our life where God has been faithful, where he has been evident to comfort, lead, and guide us. This morning, we hear the story of Nancy and Alan Moodie as they reflect on God’s faithfulness in the adoption process of their son, William. As they share their story of faithfulness, think of the times in your life where God has made his faithfulness evident, either in the moment or further down the road. This week, you will receive in the mail a tool to help you in this reflection process. In the coming weeks, as we approach Generosity Sunday, use it in your own quiet time or in family devotions to see God’s master plan at work in your own life. In response to his faithfulness, let us respond with generous and grateful hearts.
