Lighting of the Candles Placing the Bible Prayer of Confession Almighty God, you have graciously called us into the world to serve and not to be served. We confess that we have allowed pride and selfrighteousness to prevent us from denying ourselves and following you completely as you require. We acknowledge that by your hand the Earth was established and all who dwell therein are sustained by your Word. By your Spirit, give us the grace to remember that we are but dust and that your very breath gives us life. Forgive us for the ways in which we exalt ourselves, and humble us so that we might walk in the way of our Savior Jesus Christ, who for our sakes humbled Himself unto death — even death on a cross. Hear now our silent confession… Assurance of Forgiveness Congregational Response* All Creatures of Our God and King #100, v. 6

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Offering Our Gifts Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring

Hymn of Response* I Need Thee Every Hour #324 Invitation and Benediction* Postlude
Johann Sebastian Bach
Jesus, joy of man’s desiring, Holy wisdom, love most bright, Drawn by Thee our souls aspiring, Soar to uncreated light. Word of God, our flesh that fashioned With the fire of life impassioned, Striving still to Truth unknown, Soring, dying round Thy throne. Through the way where hope is guiding, Hark, what peaceful music rings, Where the flock in Thee confiding, Drink of joy from deathless springs. Theirs is beauty’s fairest pleasure, Theirs is wisdom’s holiest treasure, Thou dost ever lead Thine own, In the love of joys unknown. Doxology* Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow #544
If your young child needs attention during worship, live broadcasts of the service are available in the Williams Center and the Nursing Mothers and Infants Room off of the Williams Center.

Placing the Bible
We all have stories of God’s faithfulness— to us, to our families, to our coworkers, to our friends. And we’re promised in scripture that he is always working “for the good of those who love him” (Rom. 8:28). But sometimes in the trials of life, it can be difficult to see God’s plan at work. God’s timeline is much larger than ours—infinite, in fact—and in our finite viewpoint, there are times where it can seem like he’s forgotten about us. It’s helpful to step back and remember those moments in our life where God has been faithful, where he has been evident to comfort, lead, and guide us.

This week, Mike and Pam Elting share their story of God’s faithfulness through the way he was clearly in control of Mike’s health and treatment, inspiring him into a heart of gratitude and service.

As we reflect on the Eltings’ story, think on the times in your life when God has been faithful even when it was hard to make out his plan, and then think about how that fits into the larger scope of his plan at Peachtree and to the world.
Fall Back This Saturday! Daylight Saving Time ends this Saturday night, November 5. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour for Sunday.
Then, join us next Sunday as we celebrate God’s abundant faithfulness, responding with a heart of generosity as we join our gifts together to be a part of God’s work in and through us at Peachtree and around the world.
