In Korean culture, social etiquette is important. As a visitor, remaining polite is the best idea. A courteous bow upon entering and leaving, to say excuse me or thank you, is encouraged. Engaging in public disagreements is considered rude and respect to elders is extremely important. Removing shoes is customary when entering a home, restaurant or temple. Particular restaurants may not require you to remove your shoes.
