To me, peace means something kind, something that sounds smooth and nice, and being able to walk to school safely. Làṣẹ, 7 years, Nigeria
Peace is like a nest, where a bird sits on its eggs to keep them warm. While the small chicks develop inside the eggs, it is calm and silent around and everyone is expecting the small chicks to hatch. Ance Ĺ ere, 11 years, Latvia
When I moved to a new school, I was bullied physically by boys and emotionally by girls. That’s why I hate bullying and decided to stand up for it. I prevent my classmates from bullying each other and I help everyone. My teacher calls me the class peace maker. Salma, 9 years, Syria
Peace is sharing, kindness, generosity and respect. It is not about skin color– it’s about the kindness inside you. If you are mean, you are mean to your family. We are all created by the same person, but we are all different. This is peace. Anaële, 8 years, Canada
Peace is when you are safe, in harmony, when you do not fight with people. Peace is when everyone lives together without problems. Loyicka, 5 years, Cameroon
Peace is an important value in life. To me peace means respect. When you respect others, you are creating a positive environment for everyone. Peace can be found in many places: at school, at home, inside yourself, and a lot of other places. I found it at my basketball academy, because when I arrived there, I did not really have the peace that I am talking about right now. My basketball academy allowed me to know how to get on with other people. Every time I change my training group or my teammates, I learn to respect everyone. Without this inner peace, I would miss half of my life. Thanks to basketball my environment has become more harmonious, and I am happy, that I have less problems with others. Now, I get along with people easily, I respect myself and others and build peace for everyone.

Recipe for Peace Peace is the satisfaction a person gets when he feels better, it is light and it is having a quiet environment. I have three different ways of looking at peace. Good relations: We all remember, that in the last century the world faced two world wars, that caused a lot of bloodshed. I think, that they happened due to the leaders of the countries. So, for making peace, the countries’ leaders need to have friendly relations with each other. For example, India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, visited many countries and has shaken hands with other leaders to build good relations. Bonding: When working as a team, everyone has to keep peace within the team, so that everyone can express their ideas to improve the overall performance. Every person has to express and also listen to the ideas, so that they can coordinate themselves peacefully. This is how any organization can have great success. Patience: Inuit are one of the best living examples for peace. If they don’t have peace of mind, they cannot hunt, eat or bear the extreme climate. I would like to end with a little note: If we can find peace within ourselves, the world will automatically become peaceful. Het Mehta, 12 years, India
“Today, we all need to realize that we need to work on Peace on this Planet, because, otherwise we will only hurt one of us. We can together solve problems, whatever they are, in a loving way. There’s no need of chaos and all the fights, if we try and understand other’s perspective also.” Muskkaan Gupta, age 11, India

A Founder’s Dream By JCI President
“From within the walls of the soul of this organization wherein the foundation of character and good citizenship are laid, I hope a message will come in the sometime of tomorrow that will stir the people towards the establishment of a permanent and everlasting world peace.” These are the words of the JCI Founder Henry Gissenbier. 100 years later, JCI members from around the world continue to pursue his dream. Peace is the End Game By JCI Secretary General The history of the world teaches us that peace can only be achieved when the people of the world make a conscious effort to achieve it. Every war, every conflict, every dispute--no matter how long it lasts-usually ends with peace. Why all the wars then? Would it not be wise to avoid wars or conflicts before they happen? Peace has always been the end game for every generation. So too is it for this generation and the next. Peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the prevalence of justice, equality and opportunity for everyone.
Arrey Obenson JCI Secretary General
If the world could address the root causes of injustice, inequality and poverty, we could build a more peaceful world. The Peace is Possible Campaign aims to draw the world’s attention to addressing these root causes and in so doing, pre-empt future conflicts and lead to a more peaceful and prosperous world. Through this campaign, JCI has inspired peace actors in more than 100 countries and mobilized more than 32 organizations in a coalition to act for peace. This new partnership with Nancy Hahn of iHeart Radio’s iRead2Know marks another milestone in our endeavor to mobilize the world toward achieving peace and prosperity. Through this book we sow seeds that will bear the fruits of a more peaceful and prosperous world. If we can imagine peace, if we can believe in peace, we can achieve peace!
