Choose a quiet time and a suitable place to enjoy this book with your child. Have fun looking at the numbers together. Discuss with your child the shape of each number and ask your child questions to link the activity to his or her own experience. For example: “ What does the number 2 look like? Have you ever seen any animal looking like that?” Tracing
Pre-schoolers may not be ready to write numbers correctly on their own yet. Before trying with a pencil, guide your child to trace the numbers with finger. The dot in each number indicates “start”. The arrow shows the proper and easiest construction of the number. This will help your child develop legible handwriting and strengthen fine motor muscles to get little fingers ready to write numbers. Encourage your child to say the number out loud as he traces. This will help reinforce number recognition and reading skill.
Writing
When it comes to number recognition, repetition is the key to success for early learners. The more they are exposed to written numbers, the easier it will be for them to recognise and differentiate between them. All the exercises in this book can be repeated on pieces of paper. Show your child how you write, and let your child join you. Posture Guide your child to hold the pencil firmly between his

Message to parents and teachers:
If your child wants to stop after certain activity, do so and reintroduce it another time. Do not let him to feel overwhelmed or it will discourage him. It is suggested to not spend too long on one type of activity. Try to vary the things you do together. You can create and apply your very own fun activities, so that both you and your child will find learning fun, exciting and enjoyable.

Tips for
Parents/Teachers
Children often call this the “curly number”. Remind your child to move his pencil down and towards the left (instead of moving down straight) as he starts writing. Direct your child to “make a loop” to complete this number.
Count the children below and write the correct number in the box. Then, tick ( ďƒź) the set that has the same number of objects as the children.
