This is Zach's first show at Pentacle. Zach grew up in Salem and was involved with many activities. He played three sports and was also in choir throughout school. Zach’s real love, though, was storytelling. Whether it was Luke Skywalker battling Darth Vader on the Death Star or Robin Williams telling his students to "seize the day!" in Dead Poets Society, he loved it all. He was fortunate enough to have a family that enjoyed going to the theater where they attended plays and musicals at all of Salem's established theaters. It wasn't until college that Zach took the plunge and decided to take an acting class. His teacher at Western Oregon University, Ted DeChatelet, was a great teacher and a big inspiration for Zach to decide acting was his career. He then moved to Los Angeles and studied for eight years at The Beverly Hills Playhouse, where he fell in love with the craft of acting. He did many shows on stage and in front of the camera including Gruesome Playground Injuries, Death of a Salesman, Italian American Reconciliation and How it all Began (which you can watch on Amazon). Zach now runs The Salem Playhouse, an acting school for teens and adults at Keizer Homegrown Theatre. He hopes it can be a safe haven for students where they can discover and grow their gifts. It has been an absolute joy for him to be able to work with Jo and the rest of the cast. This is a very special show and he cannot wait for you all to see it.

In addition to acting in numerous plays at Pentacle, she was assistant director on The Rainmaker and Emma’s Child and directed The Cake, The Women of Lockerbie and Leading Ladies. Originally from Scotland, she lived in Zurich, Switzerland, for 22 years, teaching at international schools. She has three wonderful grownup children of whom she is very proud, and lives in Aumsville with Mrs. Pickles and Mufasa, her two cats. Jennifer joined Pentacle in 2005, when she had the good fortune to participate in Jo Dodge’s acting class, which she has taken multiple times. A painter of pictures, she likes to read and listen to classical music.

Walter is returning to the Pentacle stage, where his experience goes back to 2005 with past shows including Distracted, Bus Stop, Little Shop of Horrors (Mushnik), A Christmas Carol (Jacob Marley), Leading Ladies (Rev. Pentacle Theatre
PRESIDENT'S CORNER
As we move into our 68th year at Pentacle Theatre, I took a moment to think about why we all see such value. What first comes to mind is the sense of togetherness we all find. Pentacle allows for an environment we can express ourselves, communicate and cooperate with others, develop selfconfidence, create social awareness, have self-reflection, and enjoy ourselves. It enriches our lives and contributes to the social capital of our greater community. As we continue to live through these trying times, a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. resonates: “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run the walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Upon reflection, I expect we all can find ways to move forward through both our pandemic and social struggles, both individually and as a society. To this end, theater provides us with an ability to move forward. At its best it is a vehicle for entertainment, individual development and social change. We look forward to the continued reopening of the theater, our upcoming 2022 season, and the continued years ahead. See you soon!
Erik Davis

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT Pentacle Theatre in Salem is located within the ancestral homelands of the Kalapuya, Yamhill, and Luckiamute people who had lived here since time immemorial. In the 1850s, these tribes were displaced by colonization and were eventually resettled on reservations. We celebrate and honor the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz members, their resilience and their present and future right to this land.
