The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is not a story about disability; it is a story about difference. It is a story of how we live with others, told from the perspective of a teenage boy who struggles to live in a world that seems random, chaotic, and confusing. Through Christopher’s eyes we see how difficult it can be to make sense of the world, to be truthful, to love, to face challenges, and to go beyond what we thought possible.
Bringing this play to the Pentacle stage has been one of the greatest challenges of my life. Without the tireless work and support of this amazing cast, and our incredible creative team this would not have been possible. I am forever grateful to everyone who dedicated their time and talent to this project.
Christopher’s view of the world is remarkable.
Debbie Neel DirectorDebbie has been an active Pentacle member since 1980 when she was cast in the chorus of Oklahoma! Since then she has appeared in more than 35 shows including Plaza Suite, Park Your Car in Harvard Yard, Talking With, Women of Lockerbie, Other Desert Cities, and, most recently, the 2019 production of Dashing Through the Snow. Additionally, she has directed, worked on costumes, been a light technician, a sound technician, served as assistant director and as a production consultant for many shows. In 2004, Debbie was honored as a Lifetime Member of Pentacle Theatre.
Debbie is a former middle school drama teacher, who also spent two years as an assistant costumer and acting instructor for Children's Educational Theater in Salem. She enjoys life with her husband Mike who she thanks for his patience, love and support.
Robynn has been active at Pentacle Theatre since moving to Salem in 1997. She has also been involved in theater with The Verona Studio, Clackamas Rep and Keizer Homegrown Theatre. Some of her favorite Pentacle roles include Annie in Misery, Kate in All My Sons, Bea in A View from the Bridge and Latrelle in Sordid Lives. Some favorite roles at other theaters include Big Mama in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; Melissa in Love Letters; Mama in 'Night Mother; Gingy in Love, Loss and What I Wore and Professor Conte in Woman Caught Unaware. After retirement, Robynn ventured into film work in Portland including TV shows, Grimm, The Librarians and American Vandal, as well as commercials and independent and industrial films. She is grateful for the opportunity to assist Debbie Neel, and to work with the wonderful cast and production team for this extraordinary play. She would like to thank her husband, John, for his continued support and patience, and give a shout out to all the other senior volunteers - backstage crew, committee and board members, actors, and more - who keep giving their time and energy to make sure Pentacle keeps on going strong.
Voice 5/Punk Girl & others
Kate returns to the Pentacle stage after being in Almost, Maine and The Elephant Man. Other theater-related work experience includes two shows with The Verona Studio: Becky Shaw and Full Frontal Nudity, which was Verona’s entry in the state one-act competition. Kate won the best actor award for her role as Bimbi. When not on stage, you will find her in the stacks as she is a co-owner of The Book Bin.
Previously a part of All’s Well That Ends Well, Penny returns to the Pentacle stage after many years. Other theater-related work experience includes on the stage with Keizer Homegrown Theater, The Verona Studio and Chemeketa Community College Theater. She also taught children's theater in Silverton at a performing arts school. When not on stage, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, to travel and go on adventures — big and small. Being in or near water calms her soul. She also enjoys going to concerts and likes all genres of music as well as listening to murder podcasts.

Christopher Boone
Christopher is excited to rejoin the Pentacle Theatre community after some years away. He has been involved with Pentacle from a very young age, helping with costumes and set construction, as well as performing in A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Secret Garden and Macbeth. His most recent production was a virtual performance of All New Cells in 2021. Christopher is grateful to his family and his partner for their unending support in his theater endeavors. He currently works as a dog groomer, and enjoys creating digital art, caring for his houseplants and relaxing with his partner, their two cats and their reptiles. Itching to share Christopher Boone's story with an audience, he hopes this production is able to provide fellow neurodivergent individuals the representation they so rarely recieve.
This is Victoria’s first show with Pentacle but she has had the pleasure of performing in a few shows at Corban University including Humbug and A Comedy of Errors as well as playing the White Witch in a local production of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. She loves bringing the character of Siobhan to life and hopes to offer the audience a glimpse into Christopher’s mind. She hopes Siobhan can guide the audience to relate to Christopher and understand that being different does not make a person separate and that anyone can do anything. She also hopes the show leaves you delighted and lingers with the viewer long after the curtain falls.

Pentacle Theatre would not be possible without the support of the following grantors:
The first time I visited Pentacle, I was just a middle school student attending a free dress rehearsal around this same time of year. I remember walking down the path for the first time and being totally enchanted by the sounds and smells of the forest.
To this day, this is my favorite time of year to be out of the theater. I get a nostalgic feeling when I hear the wind bristling the trees, the stream trickling in the back, often with hints of set construction noise or faint musical rehearsal in the distance. It’s a beautiful feeling powered by many years of building friendships, telling stories, and sharing a bit of our hearts with each other and with our community.
I am so grateful to have crossed paths with Pentacle as a youngster, and for the many opportunities my time here has provided me. This theater is magical, and it wouldn’t be here without passionate volunteer work and generous donations. These are what has kept us resilient for 70 years, and these are what will continue to propel us forward for 70 more.
Please join us! There are so many ways to get involved. Check them out on our website at pentacletheatre.org/get-involved to join in the magic.
With gratitude,
Emma Thurston Pentacle Theatre Governing Board PresidentPentacle Theatre in Salem is located within the ancestral homelands of the Kalapuya, Yamhill, and Luckiamute people who had lived here since time immemorial.
In the 1850s, these tribes were displaced by colonization and were eventually resettled on reservations. We celebrate and honor the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz members, their resilience and their present and future right to this land.

“Despite the high body count, this delightful show will lift the hearts of all those who’ve been pining for what sometimes seems a lost art form: musicals that match streams of memorable melody with fizzily witty turns of phrase. Bloodlust hasn’t sung so sweetly, or provided so much theatrical fun, since Sweeney Todd first wielded his razor with gusto many a long year ago.” The New York Times
