DIRECTOR'S NOTE
We are excited to be bringing It’s a Wonderful Life to the Pentacle stage through the experience of watching a live radio broadcast in 1946. Directing this play within a play which requires multiple microphones on stage, sound effects done live, musical underscores and transitions, as well as actors able to portray radio actors playing multiple parts with minimal movement has been more than challenging. I am so fortunate and more than grateful for the wonderful cast and amazing production team that has made this all possible. I thank them for every hour, creative idea, prop, wig, costume piece, and word of encouragement they have contributed. This is a story of looking for the good in the world, appreciating what we have, recognizing our own value, and realizing the impact we have on those around us. George Bailey and the characters of Bedford Falls remind us that even with all of its difficulties, life is wonderful! Thank you all for coming this evening and enjoy the broadcast.

Since then, she has appeared in more than 35 shows including Plaza Suite, Park Your Car in Harvard Yard, Talking With, Women of Lockerbie, Other Desert Cities and the last show of the 2019 season, Dashing Through the Snow. Debbie is a former middle school drama teacher, who also spent two years as an assistant costumer and acting instructor for Children's Educational Theatre in Salem.
Liz Rogers Assistant Director
Liz Rogers first appeared on the Pentacle stage in 1982, as Mrs. Bascomb in Carousel and followed with performances in L'il Abner (1983) as Appassionata Von Climax and in three productions in the 1984 season: as Joanne in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean; as Nurse Sandwich and the Duchess in The Elephant Man; and as Viney in The Miracle Worker. UPCOMING AUDITIONS December 11 | Over the River and Through the Woods. A Comedy by Joe DiPietro Season 2021 | It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
5
CAST & CREW Jason Ramey Trent Touchstone/Foley Artist
This is Jason's third performance at the Pentacle Theatre, having appeared in Almost, Maine and 1984. Jason performs improv comedy, including radio theater improv, and writes sketch comedy. He wrote, performed, and produced a post apocalyptic comedy radio theater show called Radioactive Report. By day, he is an administrative law judge. Jason thanks his family, Jessica, Bella and Will, for making it a wonderful life.
Barbara Ramp Betty Blackwell/Foley Artist
Barbara is new to the Pentacle stage, but has heard about it endlessly from her husband Scott for almost 40 years. She is an accomplished artist and owns (with her husband) a Halloween business that makes and sells products to haunted venues, films and the general public all over the world. She grew up in Maui and theater is in her blood. Her late father was a child tap dancer on the Vaudeville circuit and her grandmother co-wrote and directed — under a man’s name, due to the times — a Broadway musical in 1911-12. She has played a variety of roles in theater productions over the years in both Hawaii and California. Favorites include Mrs. Keller in The Miracle Worker, Catherine Reardon in And Miss Reardon Drinks A Little, Lady MacDuff in MacBeth, June Talley in Fifth of July, Osa Johnson in Chamber Music and many others. This is, however, her first time sharing the stage with her husband Scott — whom she met while attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. Barbara dedicates this performance to her very “Bailey” parents, Betty and Frank.

Pentacle Theatre
CAST & CREW Scott Ramp Freddie Filmore
Scott returns to the Pentacle stage for the first time since 1981. At Pentacle he was seen in Little Mary Sunshine, Sugar, I Get A Kick Out of You: A Cole Porter Review, Oklahoma! and The Vagabond King. He worked on dozens more. For most of the past 40 years, Scott lived in Los Angeles, working as an actor, a makeup artist and a teacher. He was last seen onstage as Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof at the Lawrence Welk Resort near San Diego. In addition to acting in productions around Los Angeles from Shakespeare to Broadway touring companies (La Cage Aux Folles with Broadway legends Larry Kert and Harvey Evans), Scott taught makeup, acting and directed dozens of plays as a faculty member at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood. As a makeup artist, he has taught and mentored hundreds of artists, one of whom won the Best Makeup Academy Award in 2014. He runs large-scale events, primarily at Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags parks and has been the makeup designer at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles since 1992. He appeared on Season 5 of the SyFy television series Face/Off. He designed makeup for numerous productions at The Old Globe in San Diego, including the world premiere of Meteor Shower with Steve Martin and Camp David with Richard Thomas. He and his wife of 36 years, Barbara, moved back to Salem in 2020. He is thrilled to return to the theater that nurtured his love for theater and gave him his start all those years ago.
Anthony Redelsperger Harry "Jazzbo" Heywood
Anthony has a long portfolio of performances in theater productions since the early 70s and films and music videos since the 80s. He was previously seen in Pentacle's productions of The Elephant Man as Ross, Dracula as Dracula and Murder on the Orient Express as Samuel Ratchett, as well as in The Verona Studio's production of Life Sucks as Vanya. In addition to acting, Anthony is a visual artist and musician. He is pleased to have the opportunity to use his voiceover skills, along with this talented cast, to bring life to many characters in this classic holiday story.

CAST & CREW Diane Slamp Sally Applewhite
A newcomer to Pentacle Theatre, Diane has theater credits hailing from Corvallis' Majestic Theater, Gallery Theater (McMinnville) and Albany Civic Theater. Her most recent roles were in the Scraps and Lamps monologues of Talking With, as Brooke Wyeth in Other Desert Cities, Annie Cannon in Silent Sky, Sheree Hollinger in Sweet Delilah Swim Club and Gwen Dorway in Women Playing Hamlet. She was recently cast in Corvallis High School's upcoming February production of Mamma Mia! Her two most important roles to date are as mom and wife in Team Slamp. She has two outrageously cool children, August and Rocco, as well as two stinky basset hound babies, Fred and Alfie Roberta. She is a very proud wife of Stoked2sk8 skateboard shop entrepreneur, Josh. Diane would like to thank her family for their unwavering support of her love of theater, as well as Debbie and Liz for trusting a Pentacle newcomer to this fabulous holiday party. Diane is inspired by the vibrant and joyous theater community of the Mid-Valley.
BrAd Steiner Jake Laurents
Normally shy and withdrawn, BrAd has secretly craved the spotlight. Thanks to the Pentacle Theatre, caffeine and his family, he is able to perform for an audience. He appeared on stage at Pentacle in The Nerd and Leading Ladies, and he built a vomit machine for God of Carnage. Before moving to Salem, he performed in the state of Washington in productions such as Prescription Murder, The Odd Couple, Hate Mail, Rumors, Leading Ladies and 1940s Radio Hour. He owes his current acting career to his wife Liz, who lets him come to rehearsal and play with the other kids.

PRESIDENT'S CORNER
As I conclude my two years of service as President of Pentacle Theatre, I cannot help but think how fitting it is to end my term with this production of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. It's not just that I love the show, having watched the movie every single Christmas for the past 60+ years. It is that the essence of the show captures how our theater has come through the COVID lockdown: "No man is a failure who has friends." No theater is a failure which has friends. Whatever we have done to earn your support, we must tell you how much we appreciate it. Your love of the arts got us to where we are in December 2021. You have given us donations, joined the Bright Lights Society, attended work parties and Zoom meetings and purchased tickets. Our success in being here tonight is attributable to all of you. We did not fail, we survived. And we can celebrate our shared humanity together as we delight in this wonderful play. Happy Holidays to all of you from the bottom of my heart. "Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. And when he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?" Thank you for touching my life with yours.

COMING SOON:
Nick is a single, Italian American guy from New Jersey. His parents retired and moved to Florida. That doesn’t mean his family isn’t still in Jersey. In fact, he sees both sets of his grandparents every Sunday for dinner. This is routine until he has to tell them that he’s been offered a dream job. The job he’s been waiting for—marketing executive—would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news doesn’t sit so well. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. How could he betray his family’s love to move to Seattle, for a job, wonder his grandparents? Well, Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma do their level best and that includes bringing to dinner the lovely—and single—Caitlin O’Hare as bait…we won’t give the ending away here. Written by Joe DiPietro and directed by Jo Dodge, Over the River and Through the Woods runs Feb. 4th to Feb. 26th. Tickets will be available soon. For more information visit www.pentacletheatre.org or call 503-485-4300.
