Bulk Trash Service is for Residents with Trash Service provided by the City. Residents without Peoria Trash Collection should call 623-773-7160 to sign up for City trash to receive this service.

i t i f f a r G oval G m e R gram R o Pr P Graffiti is any writing, drawing or painting done without permission and visible to the public. Graffiti is often done in alleys or on walls, fences, buildings or other public/private property. Peoria takes graffiti seriously and strives to remove or remediate instances of graffiti quickly, often within 48 hours of reporting, on city maintained parks, rights-of-way and buildings.

Notice graffiti on a building, sign or property? Email graffiti@peoriaaz.gov or call 623-773-7094.

I’M OUT! Explore Peoria’s Great Outdoors! Find wonders and amazement in our city’s backyard. Observe, learn, relax, and grow in the natural abundance of our river and mountain trailways.

Nature Watching Along Peoria's Washes

Get your family outdoors for a nature scavenger hunt right in the heart of Peoria! The many green, unlined washes that run through Peoria offer pathways and cool green spots sheltering native plants and urban wildlife. In a wash, you can observe Cottonwoods, Goddings Willow, Cattails, Texas Vervain, Tall Flat Sedge, Toads (Couch’s spadefoot, Sonoran Desert and Red spotted toads) and Frogs, Snails and both Damselflies and Dragonflies. The wash at Skunk creek is renowned for its great diversity of bird species, especially during spring and winter migrations. All washes are potential floodways so users should never enter the wash. The trails on either side of the washes offer great elevated, safe viewing opportunities.

The Diversity of Nature in Our Preserves

The Sonoran Desert has one of the greatest diversity of plants and animals of any desert in the world. It supports a surprising number mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods. To learn more about local flora or fauna, check out the virtual Ranger lead classes (virtual until safe to meet up again) and then head out for a hike. During the month of September we will be partnering with the National Parks and Recreation Association to host their Parks for Pollinators program in Peoria. All through the month of September we need your help to upload as many images of pollinators in Peoria (butterflies, moths, bees, flies, beetles, birds, etc.) to our project website for identification. More on this in the coming months.

Great Ways to Get Exercise Outdoors

Rio Vista’s paved trail along the New River has underpasses to keep you safe from traffic and gorgeous lush plantings to help the miles race by. Peoria has 17 miles of trails for non-motorized recreation. Get some early morning mindful exercise by practicing outdoor Tai Chi, Yoga or meditation at Palo Verde Park or one of our other parks with mountain views. Acquire a new outdoor skill by downloading a course on navigating by using a compass or a phone around the fixed orienteering course at Rio Vista or watch our beginner fishing video with Ranger Scott to see what you need to get started. For our little residents, choose one of our park playgrounds to work off some energy.

A Lasting Legacy The Peoria Veterans Honor Wall is an important and impactful element of the City of Peoria’s Veterans Memorial, located at Rio Vista Community Park, 8866 West Thunderbird Road.

About the Memorial The 88-foot-long, black, granite wall pays tribute to the five branches of the United States military: Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard. The Great Seal of the United States is boldly represented on the first eight-foot panel, along with the seals of all five service branches. A special tribute states, “This memorial is dedicated by the city of Peoria to all of those who have served and are serving our country in the defense of freedom.” An inscription spanning the length of the wall bears the quote, “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of freedom.” – John F. Kennedy, 1961 Inaugural Address

Families and friends are encouraged to recognize an individual who has served in the U.S. Military by reserving space for their name and service details on the Peoria Veterans Honor Wall. The Veterans Honor Wall is located at Rio Vista Community Park. Each honor space will include the veteran's name, rank, branch and service years. To be included in Peoria's annual Veterans Day Ceremony, order forms must be received by September 30.

“We’ve been blessed with the opportunity to stand for something, for liberty and freedom and fairness. And these things are worth fighting for, worth devoting our lives to.” – President Ronald Reagan
