Neihu Biomass Power Plant & Environmental Education center NTUST-Arch Thesis
Instructor / Chinwei Lee Year / 2018-2019 Area / 258,000 SF Location / Taipei, Taiwan Software / Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator A product’s life cycle has alway been linear, quick born and straight to the long dying porcess. What if we can make it into a sustainable cycle by connecting two ends, turn the kitchen waste into mycelium brick for architecture, biofuel for garbage truck, heat for green houses, and clean water for firefly restoration. We add some different programs into this new waste to energy plant, such as science institute, NGOs, product design firms, start-up incubator... and also a restaurant supported by the food grown by the machine in the greenhouse. We design two interlocking dounut-like masses, running in and out the original building. And use colors to differentiate the target user of each space.

Different from most of the apartment complex around here, I propose a new concept to provide more opportunity for gay people to walk out of their comfort zone, have more social activities with people. OWNER
Concrete Oasis Syracuse University
Instructor / Roger Hubeli Year / 2020 Software / Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop Modern cities are described as a concrete jungle, where nature is away from our everyday lives and only row after rows of concrete buildings left in our view. While developing a new method of construction, we can use easily accessible natural material to minimize the waste created during construction. As time goes by, the earth mold became stronger and stronger while the root expands. This pavilion is not just a planter to grow trees, it’s an architecture that integrates with nature and supported by the root system of plants.

Treasure hill is an artist community located at the river bank. This perfect location has beautiful view and environment, except the lifted highway overpass its skyline.
51
Guang-Fu Market is a 30 years old traditional market that vendors gather, locates in the center of the newly developed district right next to the Taipei 101 tower. To meet the modern lifestyle and sanitize quality, I proposed a new complex that has three levels for retails, three levels for a hostel, and a civic plaza in between.
I use air packs as the material of the pavillion, to pack the invisible air. Not only delivers the character of air that is light, and invisible, but also intends to remind people that air pollutionhas no profile, it can be spread as easy as air.
To encourage people entering this market, we create a shortcut on the groundfloor by proposing a special layout and add minor entrances on each side to attract potential customers who did not plan to buy food to enter.
The clearance of each space is defined by the activity take place. The entrance height is 3m, and the space in the activity area is 6m. Differentiating spaces with clearence can extend the experience of walking in the village of treasure hill.

Bubble Up / Bottle Up Syracuse University
Instructor / Fei Wang Partner / Yixuan Xin Location / XiongAn, China Year / 2019 Software / Rhino, SketchUp, Illustrator, Adobe Fresco The development of human civilization has been through stone age, bronze age, iron age. And now we have entered the plastic age. Our reliance on plastic has increased dramatically globally. It is like a sugar-coated poison, not necessary but difficult to leave it. We collect PET, PP, HDPE, and LDPE which are safe for melting, and these types of plastics will be transported through underground vacuuming systems to the river bank and packed into different bubbles before being discharged into the river. The bubble will collect more waste along the journey to the plastic upcycling factory. As it arrives, we transform plastic wastes into several types of bubbles according to the kind of plastic. Some of the bubbles will be used as the construction component of this growing tower, the more plastic human throw away, the height and quantity of these towers will increase.

We create a three-dimensional surface composed by glass fiber to lit up a classroom without electricity and analyze the results using the software “HDRScope” by taking 10 different exposure picture of the physical testing model.
The experience of being the coordinator of an exhibition gives me the ability to use every second of my time wisely, let me learn how to listen to everyone’s opinion, make me understand the importance of the connection between people. The position of leadership has never been easy, it is not a task that one person can achieve by themself, it is group work. To me, the skill of communication is the most important. It is an art of how to negotiate between people and make things work.
NTUST 2nd Grade
The model is created by Grasshopper and labeled the length of each fiber automatically into AutoCAD to laser cut, and reduce the labor work of assembling the model.
