Hi I m Peter
CHUN-YI HO | | peterho0103@gmail.com

Hi, I am Chunyi Ho, a creative, Intuitive and innovative guy from NTUST. I currently studying in the United States as an exchange student. The experience of studying abroad has given me a completely different point of view of my life, and has influenced me to be brave, think big, even change my life plan. My original plan was to go back to Taiwan and work after school, but now the plan has changed. After I get my bachelor’s degree of architecture, I will study abroad again, not only to learn more about architecture or experience a different culture, but to also introduce Taiwan to the world. (I have successfully invited four friends to come to Taiwan to study next semester.) There are two parts in this portfolio, which are my works in Taiwan and the US. The Taiwan part is more about design and digital fabrication, which shows my abilities in connecting concept and design. Relatively, the US portion is more practical, like the importance of details, structures, environmental controls which all affect the architecture. All of these factors are taken into consideration during the design process in order to improve the quality of a project. Furthermore, I learned how to produce construction documents, which will cover the other big part of this profession.

Wind Wheel The wind mostly comes from North West, and South East. But the wind from North is usually Stronger. Suggestion from Climate consultant:
Refer to the result of climate consultant, and take into consideration of design strategy. 1. Reduce the opening on the south side. 2.Raised the mass to create more chances to get natural wind. 3.Plant more trees or plants on the west side, to reduce heat gain.
Sun Shading Chart (Summer) During the summer, most of the time in the day needs shading, especially the south side, and west side.

The power room(red) is in the basement, with all the electrical meters. Cables will go under ground to reach each building, and send the power up to each floor. The HVAC equipments are on the roof(Dark Blue), I plan to put all the equipment on the same building, and then pump through underground to the other building. (I want to put everythings together, because the other roof is not assessable) The Green lines collect the water from the roof and planters to the basement. And they also collect the waste water from each apartment. ARC303 WEST HOLLYWOOD HOUSING

This is a 12 units residential project in West Hollywood. The hightest height is about 40', and have four floors. We use type V construction type on the part above grade, and type I on undergroung parking.
GRID LINE AND ARCHITECTURAL LINE The grid is a useful device for expressing design rules about the placement of elements in a layout, and it can also be a tool for people to communicate. Archutectural line is to convey the physical element of architecture through different line type and line weight on a 2D drawing.
OCCUPANCY AND CONSTRUCTION TYPE OCCUPANCY R-2 (2016 CBC) CONSTRUCTION TYPE: VA MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE HEIGHT: 4 STORIES, 60 FT. (TABLE 504.3) ALLOWABLE AREA: 36,000 SF (TABLE 504.4)
STRUCTURUAL SYSTEM The Blue line is the water, and Green line means waste water line. Water comes from the main pipe of the street, and get pumped into two buildings(where the Dark Blue circles are), and come back through green lines.
The purple line is the ventilation track of the garage, which pump the air produced by vehicles out through purple circle.
ABOVE GRADE: VA TYPE V: Wood-frame construction is the most combustible of the five building types. The interior framing and exterior walls may be wood. A wood-frame building is the only one of the five types of construction that has combustible exterior walls. This is the typical single-family home construction method. These buildings are built with 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 studs and load-bearing walls, wood floor trusses, or wood floor joist and wood roof framing.
ARC303 WEST HOLLYWOOD HOUSING
UNDERGROUND: IA TYPE I: This concrete and steel structure, called fire resistive when first built at the turn of the century, is supposed to confine a fire by its construction. This type of construction in which the building elements listed in IBC Table 601 are of non-combustible materials, such as concrete and steel. The roof is also of noncombustible material, such as concrete or steel.
