From Pixels To Pet Portraits:

The Art of Pet-tography Top Tips for Tail-Wagging Holiday Pics: Expert advice for capturing your pet’s charm

Whether it’s for social media, holiday cards, or home decor, taking pictures of your pets is a great way to treasure and share their distinct characteristics. The advice in this post can help you take priceless pictures of your furry friends.

Essential Tools: You’ll need a camera to start your pet photography journey. Thankfully, modern smartphones have excellent cameras that are ideal for taking outstanding pictures. You can shoot high-resolution images with these gadgets and even edit them while you’re out and about. Social media apps, which provide entertaining effects and filters to improve your images, make it simple to introduce friends and family to your pet’s charm. Point-and-shoot cameras are a convenient solution for those seeking more sophisticated options. They are perfect for beginning photographers because all you have to do is point and shoot. Buy a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera if you want more control over settings and interchangeable lenses. You can discover affordable solutions with the characteristics you require, however they might be more expensive.

Understanding Lighting: When taking pictures of pets, natural light is your best friend and the best in UAE. Typically, you won’t need any extra lighting accessories. Flash photography should only be used in very limited circumstances since the quick blasts of light can scare your pet and produce red-eye 04

PE TSDELIGHT.COM

problems. Avoid aiming the flash directly at your pet’s face if you decide to use one.

Costumes/Props: Completely optional, although they can make your pet’s photos more charming. Make sure your pet is safe and at ease with any materials you use. Only dress them up in clothes or accessories, such hats or scarves, that they feel comfortable wearing. Toys for your cat to cuddle with or a frisbee for action shots of your dog jumping are just two examples of props. Put your pet’s safety first, and keep an eye on how they interact with props. In particular when taking pictures of your pet, treats and toys can be invaluable tools for getting their attention. Use these rewards to get your pet to look at the camera so you can get the greatest shots. Don’t forget to thank your pet for being cooperative by rewarding them with playtime or treats later.

The Influence of a Helper: Having an extra pair of hands for a pet photo shoot can be quite helpful. Using sound or food to catch your pet’s attention, an assistant can then facilitate action shots by tossing toys or sprinting alongside your pet. Your pet can be gently led into the desired position by a helper as well. Remember that being kind is crucial, and if your pet seems anxious , take a break and try again later.

Tips and Tricks for Pet Photography: It frequently takes a lot of pictures to get beautiful pet images. Here are some advice from the industry: 1. Get Close for Intimate Photos or Get Down to Their Level to Take Pictures of Your Pet. 2. Focus on the Eyes: Your pet’s eyes show their feelings, so work to catch their attention. 3. Think about the background: To make your pet the focal point of the photo, select a background that is free of distractions. 4. Natural Light: Rather of using a flash, choose natural light as it is less likely to frighten animals. 5. Grooming: Give your pet a thorough brushing and cleaning around the eyes to make sure they look their best. 6. Talk to your pet during the shot; they are more empathetic than you might imagine and can grasp words and emotions. 7. Try different compositions and angles; don’t be scared to experiment. 8. Use a Fast Shutter Speed: To stop movement in action photos, use a fast shutter speed. 9. Plan ahead to capture your pet in action by aiming your camera in their direction. 10. You never know when your pet will do something photogenic, so keep your camera close by.

Editing Your Pet images: You can improve your pet images by using editing software. You can crop, change the lighting and contrast, and get rid of background distractions using these tools.

Tips for pet videos: Many pet photography guidelines also apply to pet videos. Keep videos brief and tweak them as necessary to keep viewers interested. Consider adding background music and paying attention to sound because background noise might be distracting. Remember that having fun and letting your imagination shine are the keys to great pet photography. So, take out your camera or smartphone and start documenting the special moments you have with your pet(s) this holiday season! PE T ’S DELIGHT MAGA ZINE

Top Tips to Help Your Pet Thrive in Winter Mental and Physical Stimulation Ideas to Beat the Blues

Did you know that pets experience seasonal changes too? As winter approaches, the shorter days and increased time indoors can affect our furry friends. These seasonal changes can impact their metabolism, immune system, and mental well-being. To ensure your pets stay happy and healthy this winter, here are some tips to beat the winter blues through enrichment:

1. Boost Omega-3

During the twice-yearly coat-shedding process, pets need extra energy and nutrition to support their bodies. To help them grow a beautiful new coat, consider adding extra Omega-3 fats to their diet. Opt for fresh herring, canned sardines in water (not oil), krill oil, and phytoplankton.

2. Supercharge with Antioxidants

Rotational use of foods rich in antioxidants is beneficial for pets during the winter. Antioxidants help pets deal with stress, inflammation, and support their cells to work efficiently. Consider incorporating rosehip powder, blueberries, blackberries, leafy greens, organ meats, nuts, and seeds (flax, pumpkin, chia) into their diet.

3. Warm Comfort: Pumpkin Treats

Fresh pumpkin is a high-fiber digestive tonic for pets, especially during the colder months. Many pets enjoy it cooked and warm after a chilly walk. You can even bake an entire pumpkin and freeze portions for convenience. Opt for organic pumpkins whenever possible.

4. Interactive Games and Puzzles

Stimulate your pets mentally, especially when they are indoors more often. Explore online games and puzzles for dogs and cats, or teach your pets new tricks. Keep an eye on our social media handles, we teach a trick every week @petsdelight! Try playing scent games with them, like hiding objects or treats for them to find.

5. Recreational Bones

Recreational bones, like knuckles, femurs, shanks, and hocks, are excellent for stimulating pets in a primal way. Chewing on these bones promotes oral hygiene and releases beneficial endorphins in their brains.

6. Make Bone Broth!

Bone broth, a comfort food for pets, is packed with nutrients like collagen and L-glutamine, promoting gut and joint health. If your pet enjoys chewing on recreational bones, recycle them to create nutritious bone broth.

7. Create a Pet Wish List

As the holiday season approaches, guide your friends and family towards enriching and entertaining gifts for your pets. Consider suggesting food and treat puzzles, interactive toys (e.g., robotic mice, ball launchers), long-lasting chews, stuffable treat holders, and app-controlled treat dispensers. Rotate your pet’s toys regularly to maintain their interest and prevent winter boredom.

8. Design an Indoor Agility Course

With limited daylight hours, indoor agility courses can provide your pet with the exercise and mental stimulation they need. Use furniture and household items to set up jumps, weave poles, and obstacles for them to explore. Don’t let the winter blues affect your pets. Keep them mentally and physically engaged during the colder months. With a little creativity and thought, you can prevent winter boredom and ensure your pets remain happy and healthy all season long.

PET OWNERSHIP IN UAE DECODED Answering FAQs on Rules and Regulations 08

PE TSDELIGHT.COM

WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR PET REGISTRATION? Every dog in the UAE should be registered with your local municipality. You’ll need a copy of your Emirates ID, a passport-sized photo of yourself, a copy of your tenancy agreement, and a copy of your dog’s vaccination records. Registration fees may apply, so it’s best to check with your local municipality for the exact requirements and costs. Source: Dubai Kennels & Cattery.

DO I NEED A LICENSE FOR MY PET? A pet license is mandatory for dog owners in most Emirates. Dubai Municipality requires pet owners to get a license, and encourage it.

However, other Emirates may have different requirements, so it’s advisable to check with your local municipality. 1. Go to the Dubai Municipality center or the closest veterinarian facility. 2. Obtain a medical examination and vaccinations for your pet. 3. Get a vaccination and medical examination certificate from the vet facility. 4. Complete the pet licensing application form. 5. Apply in person at the Dubai Municipality facility, providing the vaccination certificate and medical examination. 6. Pay the License charge for a period of one year.

WHAT ARE THE BREED RESTRICTIONS? In certain Emirates, certain breeds are banned, like Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers, and others. Make sure you’re familiar with the breed restrictions in your Emirate before bringing home a new furry family member.

ARE THERE LEASH LAWS? Yes, most Emirates have leash laws that require dogs to be on a leash in public areas. Clean up after your pet while you’re at it – fines can be steep if you don’t.

WHAT ABOUT MICROCHIPPING AND VACCINATIONS? Microchipping your pet is essential, as it helps track and identify them if they get lost. Regular vaccinations are crucial for your pet’s health and to comply with regulations. Ensure your pet is up-to-date with all vaccinations required by your Emirate.

CAN I TAKE MY PET TO PUBLIC PLACES? Pet-friendly parks, beaches, and cafes exist, but it’s best to check if your furry friend is welcome before heading out. Always be mindful of others and keep your pet on a leash when in public areas.

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF BREAKING THE RULES? Breaking pet ownership rules can lead to fines, legal action, or even pet confiscation. It’s in your and your pet’s best interest to stay informed and comply with the regulations.

THE DO’S AND DON’TS OF PET OWNERSHIP IN THE UAE DO: • Register your pet with your local municipality. • Ensure your pet’s vaccinations are upto-date. • Keep your dog on a leash in public areas. • Microchip your pet for identification. • Observe breed restrictions in your Emirate. • Check with your airline for pet travel regulations. DON’T: • Disobey leash laws. • Neglect regular veterinary care. • Violate breed restrictions. • Forget to clean up after your pet in public areas. • Leave your pet in a hot car, even for a short time. • Ignore the guidelines for pet travel or leave them unattended.

Protecting Your Pooch from Cold-Weather Paws The Power of Prevention: Strategies to keep your pet safe and warm With winter coming up, It’s important to keep in mind that our beloved dogs can be susceptible to cold-weather ailments, even in warmer winters seen in the UAE. Protecting your pets is essential since prolonged exposure to the winter’s chill can result in a variety of health problems. Let’s examine some typical winter ailments, including advice on how to avoid them and details on efficient remedies.

3. Flu and Pneumonia: Sneezing, runny nose, coughing, watery eyes, loss of appetite, and fever are the typical symptoms of flu and pneumonia in older and younger pets. With treatments like cough suppressants, antiviral drugs, and fluids for moderate cases, veterinary care is crucial. Hospitalization, hydration therapy, and oxygen therapy may be necessary in severe cases. So be on the lookout for these symptoms in your furry ones!

1. Canine infectious tracheobronchitis: sometimes known as kennel cough, is a viral infection that can afflict both dogs and cats. Due to pets spending more time indoors and in close contact with people during the winter, it is more common. Runny nose, sneezing, a dry, honking cough, and fever are among symptoms. While moderate cases frequently get well on their own, severe cases might need antibiotics and cough suppressants to get better. Consult your veterinarian, especially if your pet is extremely young, old, or has underlying health difficulties, and isolate yourself from others to stop the spread of the illness.

4. Arthritis: Arthritis, especially in senior pets, is made worse during the winter. The signs include stiffness, touch aggressiveness, more sleep, and trouble moving. For therapies including joint supplements, pain relievers, nutritional assistance, mild exercise, and physiotherapy, speak with your veterinarian.

2. The Sniffles: In the winter, pets are susceptible to the same colds as people. Lethargy, a little cough, or a runny nose are examples of symptoms. Warmth, rest, and plenty of fluids are recommended here. A balanced diet at warmer temperatures may be beneficial. Consult your veterinarian if symptoms increase or continue if your pet is very young, old, or has preexisting medical concerns.

In conclusion, prevention and early intervention are crucial because the winter’s cold might pose health risks to our dogs. Learn about these typical circumstances and be on the lookout. For advice, speak with your veterinarian if you think your pet is ill. Keep in mind that pet insurance can assist in covering high vet expenditures during such situations, giving you piece of mind and protecting your furry friends. Our top focus is making sure your pets are safe, warm, and loved during winter and are enjoying themselves!

Seasonal Appetite Changes: Just as people adapt their eating habits to the seasons, our furry friends may also experience modest shifts in their appetites. They might eat a bit less in summer and a bit more in winter, but drastic changes in appetite or noticeable weight fluctuations could be signs of underlying health concerns, necessitating a vet visit. When to Feed Less: In cooler areas, your dog’s daily walks may become shorter or less frequent during winter, potentially leading to winter weight gain. To adjust your pet’s food portions properly, consult your veterinarian. When to Feed the Same Amount: Daily mental and physical stimulation remains vital even during chilly months. Regular exercise, especially for specific breeds and young puppies, helps prevent behavioural issues stemming from boredom. By sticking to a consistent exercise routine, you can feed your pet the same amount year-round.

Winter Nutrition Spotlight: Keeping Your Furry Friends Happy and Healthy

Nutrition Tips, Cozy Treats, and More for Dogs and Cats in the UAE Winter Winter’s cool grip and shorter days are approaching, enticing us to indulge in comforting foods. But amidst these seasonal changes, have you considered the shifting dietary needs of your beloved pets? This article explores nutrition tips for keeping your dogs and cats healthy and content during the UAE winter.

20

Consider Winter Exercise: Engaging your pet in regular winter exercise is good for their physical and mental health. Activities like dogfriendly snowsports or creating indoor obstacle courses can keep them active and inspire you to stay active too. When to Eat More: Pets exposed to severe winter weather, such as those living outside or spending extended periods outdoors, require more calories to stay warm. High-intensity activities in freezing conditions can also raise their calorie needs. As a general rule, for every 10 degrees below average temperature, a dog may need about 7% more calories. Your vet can provide assistance in adjusting their diet.

Maintaining Your Pet’s Shape: Irrespective of the season, it’s essential to ensure your dogs and cats remain in good physical shape. This means they should have easily felt ribs without being overly prominent, an hourglass-shaped waist when viewed from above, and a slight belly tuck from the side.

Our Picks

Omega 3 for a Healthier Winter Diet: Omega 3 fatty acids are crucial for maintaining your pet’s overall well-being, and their importance becomes more pronounced during the winter months. These fatty acids offer several benefits, including supporting a glossy coat and reducing inflammation, especially valuable in dry winter conditions. They also help maintain joint health, vital for older pets experiencing cold-induced stiffness and arthritis.

Applaws Taste Topper Broth Chicken Beef Dog Tin

Consider incorporating Omega 3-rich foods like fresh herring and canned sardines (packed in water) into your pet’s diet. The best option is to opt for our Fish4Pets line for dogs and cats. For cats and dogs, it’s vital to provide these nutrients through natural, non-synthetic sources.

Winter-Appropriate Treats: The winter season is an excellent time to offer your pets heartwarming and health-boosting treats. Choose treats with wholesome ingredients that warm them up during the colder days. An apt choice would be the range of Healthy Treats on our website. Look for options that include can offer health benefits through their anti-inflammatory properties.

Healthy Bites Nutri Booster for Kittens

Remember to provide treats in moderation. Consider offering them after a chilly outdoor walk or as a reward for indoor games. These treats not only tantalize your pet’s taste buds but also add an extra layer of love and warmth to their winter days.

Broths and Gravy for Added Comfort: Enhancing your pet’s usual dry food with broths and gravy can make mealtime more delightful, especially in the winter. These additions can appeal to picky eaters while providing extra hydration, crucial in the dry winter air when pets might not drink enough water.

Healthy Treats Joint & Hip for Dogs & Puppies

Broths and gravy enhance the aroma and flavor of meals, making them more appealing. They add comfort and warmth to your pet’s diet, elevating their dining experience during the cold season. For this, we have our ever dependable line of Taste Toppers from Applaws in broths and gravies to tickle your dog’s taste buds. Success Stories From K9 Friends

Adorable little Taz made his way to K9 Friends when his previous owners couldn’t spend enough quality time with her. Since then Taz has proven herself to be extremely gentle and good with children and adults alike. Not to mention, she’d already been house trained, making her the ideal candidate for adoption. So when this particular family came around, the match was already made and Taz turned out to be the perfect fit!

Sweet Martel was yet another case of surrender from previous owners who could no longer provide him with the care he so deserves. After a short stint at K9 Friends, during which he got to socialise with the residents of the kennel, he was able to charm his way into the lives, and arms of his loving new family who adopted him.

Sharma came into K9 Friends along with her mum and siblings as a tiny little puppy and grew up in the facility. The family that finally adopted her actually had the wonderful opportunity to foster her a few times before the made the inevitable decision to adopt her. She now lives in the household as the most loved member. That may have a lot to do with the fact that she loves to snuggle up on the couch with her family while watching TV or just hanging out with her human dad!
