Advice from Pet's Delight
1 Question from @sabine_haddad2000 on Instagram
I want my dog to play with other dogs. He always barks when he sees other dogs. Help me
Answer: When it comes to dogs, socialisation is something to tackle when they're a pup. However, that's not always possible if you get a dog when he's older. There are typically two reasons why dogs become aggressive around other dogs: they believe the other dog presents a threat, or they feel fear. For some, this could stem from a trauma they've had previously. Signs that your dog dislikes other dogs: • Growling, snarling, or barking • Baring teeth • Staring directly at another dog • Raised hackles • Ears pointing forward • Stiff tail • Pulling or lunging on the lead • Biting. What to do to help your dog be more comfortable with other dogs: If your dog is aggressive to the point that it could be dangerous, it's better to get the help of a dog trainer or behaviour specialist. However, if it's mild, there are a handful of things you can do to help. 1. Make sure both animals are safe, keep them on a leash and at a safe distance. 2. Don't punish your dog if he acts out, if you do, he'll likely associate this negativity with another dog's presence. Instead, cease praising them and ignore them. 3. Start small- taking your dog straight to a busy dog park probably isn't the best first step for socialisation. If you know someone that has a dog comfortable with socialising, introduce them first, it's easier when you know the other dog's temperament already.
2 Question from @a_cat_named_patchi on Instagram
Is Applaws a good wet food brand for cats? Answer: Applaws is a top selling cat food brand with a vast selection of products which are great for your cat. The whole range can be split into two main categories - complete and complementary. Complete foods are dense in nutrition, and as long as you provide plenty of fresh water alongside feeding complete foods, will provide your cat with all of the nutrition their body needs. Within the Applaws range, the senior wet food products are complete, typically as cats get older due to their teeth it can be harder for them to eat kibble (which tends to be the type of food that is complete), therefore feeding Applaws senior wet cat food is a great way to ensure they're getting the right nutrition. Try Applaws Senior Tuna with Salmon, or Applaws Senior Tuna with Sardines.
Complementary foods on the other hand, can be added to your cats diet as a treat or a topper - they give an additional burst of nutrition and flavour, but should be fed alongside a complete kibble, which Applaws has a great selection of. The newest line from Applaws are the 'toppers', soups to add to dry food to encourage your cat to eat it, this is particularly handy for older cats or those without all of their teeth, as adding a topper softens the kibbles. Cats are also well known for being fussy / changing their mind about their foods, so having toppers on hand can switch up the flavours without having to buy a new dry food. We always recommend feeding both dry and wet food, as dry food has certain benefits such as being good for feline teeth. Wet food can be fed in the same way as a topper, or on it's own.

Question from @emm.cat123 on Instagram
Question from @simamondal42 on Instagram
How to find a balance of nutrition with raw, dry and wet cat food?
Best dog shampoo at less price?
Answer:
Answer:
Feeding your cat a mixture of raw, dry, and wet cat food can offer variety - something we know cats enjoy as they can get bored easily with their food. The number one thing to remember is nutrition, your cat needs certain nutrition to function and be healthy and happy, and if you mix up their diet too much it can be tricky to balance. We would therefore recommend making a high quality kibble the basis of your cat's diet. Feeding a nutritious dry food such as Applaws, Orijen, or Vitalin each day will give you peace of mind that nothing is missing in your cat's diet that could lead to health problems further down the line.
Getting your pet professionally groomed can be costly, which makes doing it at home a great way to keep your furry friend clean on a budget. Some shampoos can be expensive, but it's important to remember that premium formulas that take care of your pet often cost a little more. Having said that, we have a fantastic range of shampoos from Animology, which are under AED 50 a bottle.
To build on the dry food, mixing up different wet foods and adding carefully-chosen raw foods can keep your kitty excited about meal times. Try adding wet food to the dry food, and feeding raw as a 'treat'.
5
There are two important caveats to make in regards to a mixed diet like this:
Question from @criselle.veronica on Instagram
1. Allergies and intolerances: mixing up your cats diet with different and new ingredients could spark an intolerance or an allergy that you weren't aware of before. Whilst these are usually managed by cutting out the ingredient (cats can be allergic to chicken as an example), it can be hard to figure out if you're feeding a real mix of ingredients. We would recommend being cautious, and introducing new foods slowly. Although cats are a little less likely to get upset stomachs than dogs when it comes to switching between brands and proteins, we would also advise switching dry food in particular gradually. 2. Hygiene: the number one concern we get from pet parents regarding feeding raw, is the worries of things like salmonella. This is why hygiene and being strict with how you prepare the raw food is incredibly important. Not only can salmonella harm your cat, but it can be passed to you and your family members, too.
Have a pet nutrition question?
My dog always seems to be hungry, does he need a different food option or is there anything else i can do?
Answer: A very important note to make when it comes to pet food, is that they're not all made equal. If you're feeding your dog the right amount of food as per his weight, height, and exercise level, and he's still hungry - it might be time to switch foods. Look for a food that is dense in nutrition and isn't packed with carbs or unnecessary binder foods. The likes of ZiwiPeak, Orijen, and Billy & Margot might seem a little on the pricey side, but they are so dense in nutrition that you feed less food per day as many of their cheaper alternatives. This means the bag lasts much longer, and you end up shopping for pet food less often. Your pup will feel fuller for longer!

Getting to your destination
There are situations all year round where we need to be looking after our dogs paws. In the heat of summer boots are needed to stop them burning their feet, and now we're in cooler months they're needed for activities such as hiking to protect their paws from being impacted by the tough rocks.
If you have a small breed dog in particular, getting them comfortable in the car on long journeys can be tricky. That's where Petmate comes in. The Petmate Booster Seat will keep your dog safe and comfortable.
Ruffwear has boots with different designs and sizes, so you can choose the right ones for your pup:
Hydration is crucial Keeping your dog hydrated on your adventures is essential. The Beco Travel Bowl is collapsible, which makes it ideal for slipping into your backpack.

1. Treat your furbaby to a special at-home groom Did you know that grooming and massaging your pet strengthens your bond? Whether you're giving your dog a bath, or simply brushing your kitty's fur, there's nothing quite like cuddles and quality time. 2. Take your pup on an extra long walk The majority of dogs love to walk outdoors. Take your pet for a longer walk than usual, and why not take a few treats with you to make it extra special. 3. Valentine's gifts aren't just for humans... In our opinion, our pets deserve gifts just as much (if not more...) than humans. Time to replace a worn out cat bed? Or upgrade to a fancy new lead? Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to treat your furry friend. 4. Treats, treat, treats! We have lots of treats to choose from this Valentines. 1. Making delicious meals We don’t know about you, but winter in the UAE feels a little chillier than usual this year. It’s got us turning to the comfort food, which we occasionally can share with our fur babies. 2020 was the year of homecooked meals and banana bread (who else has made 100 of these?) and we’re taking this into 2021, it’s out with the takeaways and in with the home recipes. Check out our DIY Valentine’s Day Hearts on page 5, the perfect way to show your pet some love.
SAME YOU, NEW ROUTINE
2. Moving more If lockdown taught us anything, it’s how much exercise helps with everything – whether it’s clearing our heads or as part of a workout plan, taking care of ourselves has never felt so important. And the same goes for our furry friends. We love nothing more than a long stroll with our dogs, and we’ve even tried pet yoga (Google it, you won’t regret it!). Moving more is something we’re going to keep up with this year.
3. Exploring The next couple of months are simply the best for getting out and about with our dogs. They were cooped up a lot last year, so let’s go and do that walk we always thought about doing but never got around to, and let’s find a new dog park to give them the chance to socialize with other dogs. Let’s make the most of what’s right on our doorstep. Don’t forget your pet adventure essentials, we've pulled out our favourites on pages 10-11.
4. Swapping screen time for play time
2020 provided many challenges for each and every one of us, but we have to say we learnt a lot along the way, too. Living a slower life in many ways has resulted in fresh routines, and here are four changes we’re going to make this year…
We pretty much completed Netflix in lockdown, and whilst it was enjoyable, we did find ourselves venturing into couch potato territory. Plus, our mobile screen time seemed to increase every week… In 2021, we’re going to make more use of airplane mode, and pick up some new pet toys so we can enjoy playtime with our pets.

SIGNS YOU'RE
READY FOR
ANOTHER CAT Your cat is fairly sociable and you worry about them when you're not home Generally, cats fit into one of two camps: those that love other cats, and those that really don't. You need to figure out which one your resident cat fits into before embarking on getting another furball. If you have a cat who constantly need attention, suffer from separation anxiety, or have had a sibling previously - you're probably ready for another kitty.
maybe you're now working from home full time, or your weekends are spent enjoying your garden rather than the beach - now might be a great time to introduce a new furry member of the family. Likewise, if you've recently moved to a bigger home and have more space, you can get the second pet you've always wanted.
You've done the maths and you know you have the needed disposable income to support a new family member Owning any pet comes with a price tag. Food, litter, treats, toys, vet bills, relocation costs (and much more) need to be considered before you take the plunge and get a new cat. If you've done your calculations and have the space cash, go for it!
You've had a family/house meeting and everyone is onboard It's crucial that everyone who will be living with the cat is onboard with getting a new furry friend. You won't always be able to be there for your kitty, so ensuring others are there to help is really important.
You've moved into a bigger place and/or have more time on your hands It's true that most cats don't demand the same level of time as dogs. However, like most living creatures they still need a level of attention. For those who spend more time at home PET ’S DELIGHT MAGAZINE

They need spaying/neutering Your furry friend will likely show signs of aggression before they are spayed or neutered. This can be seen in behaviour such as biting, urine spraying, and chewing. It's important you get them spayed or neutered when able to.
Grooming is essential Rabbits need regular brushing to keep them free from mattes. They also occasionally pluck their own hair, which needs to be removed from them before they eat it. Using a soft bristle brush to clean their coat should do the trick - just avoid their sensitive belly and face areas.
Rabbits need space Granted, we understand why you might think that rabbits don't take up much room - compared to a dog or a cat, they seem pretty compact. What you might not know, is that rabbits are social animals. They like to play, explore, and require freedom to roam. A hutch simply isn't big enough for them to have the space they need. Investing in a play pen is a brilliant idea for allowing them space whilst keeping them safe from harm.
They don't always love to be cuddled
Things to consider before you get a rabbit
Their fluffy and adorable exterior often has pet lovers fooled that they like being picked up, cuddled, and played with. Like most animals, they each have their own personalities, so this isn't always the case. Many rabbits prefer their own space and will try to wiggle away when picked up.
Carrots can be fatal to a rabbit
Rabbits are a little misunderstood. Viewed by many as the ideal first pet for their children, rabbits are often mistaken for being a low-maintenance furry friend. However, there are a handful of things that might surprise you that suggest the opposite might be true.
Despite what many of us think, carrots aren't good for rabbits. They have sensitive digestive systems and therefore need a diet filled with high-fibre foods, leafy greens, and mostly made up of hay.
