Upgrades deliver benefits

The F2050 air source heat pump has been upgraded by NIBE to improve its performance while maintaining the compact and sleek design of its predecessor. The new model utilises the climate-friendly refrigerant R32 to minimise its global warming potential (GWP), achieving high Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) levels up to 4.87, ensuring efficient operation, even in climates as cold as -20°C.

The F2050 also benefits from quite operation, with a nominal sound power as low as 53dB(A), and carries an A+++ energy rating, reflecting its sustainability. The upgraded models will be available in two output sizes: F2050-6 and F2050-10, with the F2040-12 and the F2040-16 sizes still on the market.

Additionally, they are compatible with NIBE’s S-series modules for energy management and connectivity, allowing homeowners to control their heating system through the myUplink app. Installers can also benefit from remote diagnostics and fault finding using the myUplink PRO app.

Heat pumps from Vaillant can now benefit from automated solar energy usage thanks to a partnership with SolarEdge Technologies. Vaillant heat pumps now work within the SolarEdge Home ecosystem, which analyses solar generation, energy consumption, and optimal energy usage based on rates and preferences. The technology enables householders to maximise the use of excess PV for performance and offer minimum disruption to the consumer.

The project also aims to enhance customer confidence in heat pump technology, by providing them with a user-friendly app that offers personalised insights into energy usage and management.

THOM is part of the government’s Heat Pump Ready programme and has been awarded £763k funding by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

The Local Controller, as part of the SolarEdge Home offering, will support Vaillant Heat pump integration via EEBUS.

Alfred Karlstetter, general manager of SolarEdge Europe, comments: “Smart homes have mainly been about convenience and interconnectivity, but the next step is building a comprehensive and integrated ecosystem.

“By merging home devices with the value of smart solar energy through this integration with Vaillant, we are leading the way in making the power of smart solar energy more accessible, intuitive and convenient for more people.”

Heavy duty macerators deliver

The Sanibest Pro, a heavy-duty macerator suitable for heavy usage in public or commercial environments from Saniflo UK, is helping the residents of Eastbourne provide valuable services to people in need out of a large, four-storey Art Deco building in the centre of the town. As temporary custodians of the building, the Living Life Eastbourne charity provides a community hub, including an affordable café, which required a new, accessible WC, basin and baby-changing unit. Access to mains drainage would have required digging up a solid concrete floor, creating an expensive, time-consuming inconvenience.

The solution was a powerful Sanibest Pro, a robust unit that caters to the demands of public space, installed behind the WC. The pipework runs behind a false wall and goes up and across the ceiling of a corridor behind the newly created bathroom, dropping down into a gravity-fed drainage pipe and drain that connects to a streetlevel sewer.
