and welcome to the 2011 Parade of Homes Plus, presented by the Builders Association of Elkhart County and sponsored by Mid-City Supply. This is the 44th year of the Parade of Homes–the third year in bringing the community an added “plus” with the Remodelers Showcase.

We would like to thank our participating builders and remodelers for their tireless work and diligence to make this years’ Parade a success. As in programs past, they have all brought a diverse array of homes to this show. The scattered site event features 12 new homes and two remodeling projects situated throughout the area communities. In each home you’ll discover great ideas, current eco-products, and design and color trends. The members are ready to share with you their homes’ outstanding quality and craftsmanship. As chairpersons we’ve had the benefit of a great committee to collaborate with all the planning, show transitions and decisions. A big “thank-you” to this fine group of member volunteers—and, to all members who volunteer countless hours and enthusiastic work to make this a successful event. We especially want to acknowledge the efforts of Gretchen Helman, Executive Officer, and Kim McKibbin, Membership Services Director, for making sure all is functioning according to plan— every little detail that makes a big difference. Whether you are in the market to purchase a home or just making your wish-list, this show can help you understand and enjoy the process of home building, remodeling, and what the Builders Association brings to our communities. Welcome to the 2011 Parade of Homes Plus. The Builders Association of Elhart County is proud to present the show to you again this year. we hope you enjoy the latest in design, features, and green building products and techniques. This year when you plan your tour you will be able to take advantage of the restaurant coupons that are printed on the back of your tickets and make a day of the event and what it offers.

There are tremendous efforts that go into making this event by home buillders, BAEC staff and volunteers and sponsors, that without them and your participation it would not happen. The Indiana Quality Assurance Builder Standards provide, for the first time ever, new homebuyers and remodeling customers a way to measure their builder and the project against an industry approved set of standards. These Standards have been developed as a service to new home consumers and remodeling customers. These Standards create a series of performance standards that builders and customers can use to communicate and understand each other’s expectations regarding building/remodeling projects.

A Measurable Difference: What it means to you, the consumer.

The Standards address the most prevalent issues that arise between the builder and the customer before the project, during the project, and most importantly, after the project is completed. All too often it is the unrealized or undiscovered expectations that create the majority of the problems encountered in the building/remodeling process. The Standards will help eliminate these problems before the project even begins. The Indiana Quality Assurance Builder Standards provide you with the confidence that professionals in the industry are handling your project. Make sure your builder of remodeler is a member of the Builders Association of Elkhart County and a Standards Builder and/or Standards Remodeler, and be sure that you receive your Standards manual at contract signing or at closing.

These acronyms represent EDUCATIONAL DESIGNATIONS the builder and remodeler has achieved to improve his/her understanding of the construction industry. They represent many hours of continuing education.

Certified Green Professional is for single family builders, multifamily builders, remodelers, developers, land planners, architects and designers, energy raters, home inspectors, utilities staff, product manufacturer and supplier.

CGB

Certified Graduate Builder is an exclusive professional designation designed to emphasize business and project management skills as the key to a professional building operation.

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
