DAOLOOKGAI PLEIADES
Once upon a time , there was an old couple who lived in a small cottage at the edge of their rice field. The old man and the old woman raised a hen and this hen had seven little chicks. The old couple have never thought to kill them.
O
ne day, a monk came to the old couple’s cottage. The old couple thought that he would have no breakfast for the monk on the next day. “What should we cook for his breakfast?” the old man asked. “Why don’t we kill the hen and raise seven little chicks for breeding? The old woman replied. They didn’t know that the little family heard what they were talking about. The hen and seven little chicks burst into tears. They felt very sad. After that, they ran away into a forest. The hen felt terribly sad and she said to the little chicks before she died “ If I die, you should be good chicks and repay the kindness of the old couple.” Next morning, The hen and seven little chicks came back to the cottage. The old couple made a fire ready and when the pot was hot the old woman caught the hen and prepared to put her in a hot pot. When the little chicks saw this, they ran together towards the fire. By their merit, the seven little chicks were reborn as seven little stars. This was their reward for their gratitude and devotion to their mother. Now If you look up the sky at night, you can see these seven little chicks stars. We call these stars “Dao Lookgai” Here is a picture of M45 the Pleiades, the large star cluster with associated nebulosity in Taurus. W
e have well-prepared ourselves for this competition and our team doesn’t just consists of Hungarians but we have members from Slovakia and Croatia as well. We have been practicing and competing within our team nearly all the time and so we expect to be ready to compete in this competition as well.
Dr. Hiran Jayaweera

I
feel like it’s really interesting that so many talented people can come together. Besides just coming to compete with one another we can also take time to share experience and learn from one another as well. Its really a neat experience for everyone. As for expectations, I am confident in my team that we will do well in this year’s competition.

Mr. Sukit Boonyarangsee

Team Leader from Thailand
ince this year’s competition has been Thailand’s opportunity to host the event, we have done our very best to prepare our students for the competition. I believe that our students are truly ready and will certainly be able to make good scores. Our participants are fairly experienced and though here in Thailand we don’t have the clearest sky, I understand that the competition will be held in a dome so our students should be at no disadvantage. Thai participants, don’t get anxious!
Blanka Vilagos // Contestant from Hungary I feel pretty confident going into this competition because I have well prepared and I think most may know that our team is very strong and certainly not underestimated by any. As for expectations, we think that we will be able to execute what we have learned both correctly and timely and the competition results will show for it. I would like to say to all the other participants that everyone in our time is at their best and that we are ready to let the fun get started.
Nairdun Gallage // Contestant from Sri Lanka I accept that there are some concerns, but I hope that in the end I will win. As for preparations, besides learning and studying all the time, I also look at the other country’s study programs as well as what the judges will be looking for with my answers. I believe this well help me get good scores in this year’s competition.
Tigran Galstyan // Contestant from Armenia From the experience I gained in last year’s competition, I have been able to create a good practice format to test myself and along with the new knowledge that I continue to learn I feel confident that I will be able to make a good score in this year’s competition.
Phumrapee Pisutsin Contestant from Thailand
Prairsunan Chanpanich Contestant from Thailand I have been able to study and take notes on many of the competitions in year's past as well as study up on the participants from the other teams. So, I don’t have much concern, but now it’s really more about being able to overcome myself and do my very best. I believe if I can do that then my scores will show it.
I’m confident! Because I have thoroughly practiced and studied the lessons well, every bit of information related to the competition whether in theory or observation. I just want to tell the Thai team that we can’t get anxious, because this year we truly are fully prepared. I would also like to ask the Thai public to please support us, this year we are the host, and we are so ready to do our best!
Yong Sheng yap Contestant from Malaysia My goal is to bring medals back to Malaysia. Previously, in India we received only honorable mention, so this year we have to win for our country.
