The kind of
woman most men
THE TIME WE SPEND ON THE INTERNET

H
ere I am not talking about the sensitive, overacting drama-queens that we all do are best to stay away from But I am talking about the kind of woman that most men respect and wish to have in their care. It a sense, it may be the type that is though a bit scary, very attractive and it will have men raising their white flag asking you to be the mother of their children. It certainly isn’t easy to do however, winning a man’s heart and having him commit to you. But you should give this a try. 1.Be the kind of women who is always calm and collective, the kind that most can’t read. There is a special aura that resonates from someone who is quiet in the midst of chaos. Its about having a certain togetherness and level of selfrespect that comes from the inside and shines out bright. You are willing to express more through your eyes than your words keeping your words short and precise willing to put people in their place without the need for rude or harsh language. When you are angry, you stay calm and controlled from within. 2.Be the kind of woman who is good at what they do. Be smart and diligent about your work staying in control of stress. You must know that you can take care of yourself and therefore you have no need to press on a man for their care but rather show them that you are both capable and knowledgeable enough to make it without them. 3.Be the kind of woman who knows how to act in various situations. When someone comes at you whether in social media or in front of your friends, you must know how to carry yourself and know what others want from you. You must especially know what your man wants from you without really letting him know what you do. Like they say if you know yourself and know your adversary you will win 100% Finally, the most important thing is simply to just be a good woman. Besides being pretty, calm and capable, you have to know how to be good through and through not just putting up a
facade of what you want people to see. This will make men fear you more than anything else, because if you do what is right not only can nobody touch you, but nobody will want to lose you either.

THE “TRASH BANK” AND GREEN TOURISM Prab's Thoughts There are still good things happening… I can see more Phuket people considering this problem such as the environmental authorities who are using social media to push forward!!
A
s Phuket becomes even more popular as a tourist destination from around the world, still we have not managed to escape trash problems and harming the environment. After 40 years of developing Phuket tourism, we have pushed our world class tourist destination to receiving 1415 million tourists per year. However, at the same time we can all feel the green color of our island start to fade. Our beautiful sea is also being contaminated repeatedly as trash continues to pile up. Statistics show that trash is accumulating rapidly to the point that there may be more trash than fish! “If we continue to use this island carelessly without thinking to conserve nature and the environment, we will see in just a few years ahead the next generation will not get to experience the beautiful nature we have today. This is certainly a chapter that none of us want to see come to pass. There are still good things happening… I can see more Phuket people considering this problem such as the environmental authorities who are using social media to push forward!!
Communication technology has become an important tool in gathering the ideas of the people from top to bottom. It has helped us grow stronger helping in areas such as goal setting, monitoring and solving environmental issues in the public. Such communication helps connect and inform everyone involved and especially the government and local authorities so that they take more action. Also, I have seen a lot with volunteer groups who have
been quick to stand up and help conserve our nature. This is a positive trend that has influenced both the public and private sectors including business owners and locals to work together and help fundraise such movements. We have even seen some businesses join in giving their time to volunteering and supplying the equipment necessary. As for Phatana Patong Foundation, we have started a project called “Trash Bank” which is aimed towards
initiating trash separation in the community. The next step is to take the earnings from the trash to support public activities and social services which at this point the “volunteer groups” have already requested. “Many countries, particularly Japan have come very far in trash separation to the point of recycling 80% of all trash. For Patong, we plan to reach 50% recyclable in the next 3 years. I believe if we all work together, we can make this goal achievable!
It is easy to see that “conserving earth” is in trend all over the world and Ecotourism which is the effort to provide tourism services that are ecofriendly has certainly caught on both locally and internationally. It is very important that those in the tourism circle keep up with this trend. As for marketing, anyone who is able to take the eco trend and make it a business strategy will certainly have an upper hand on their competitors!

จากธนาคารขยะ...ถึงการ ท่ องเที่ยวแบบรั กษ์ โลก ยิ่ ง เกาะภูเก็ ต มี ชื่ อ เสี ย งว่า เป็ นสถานที่ ท่องเที่ยวสวยงามติดระดับโลกมากขึ ้นเท่าใด สิ่งที่ เกิ ดขึน้ ควบคู่การเป็ น “จุดหมายปลาย ทาง” ก็หนีไม่พ้น...ปั ญหาขยะ และการท�าลาย ธรรมชาติและสิง่ แวดล้ อม ระยะเวลาร่ วม 40 ปี ของพัฒนาการด้ าน การท่องเที่ยวของเกาะภูเก็ต เราผลักดันตัว เองขึ ้นมาเป็ นเมืองท่องเที่ยวระดับแนวหน้ า แห่งหนึง่ ของโลก มีนกั ท่องเที่ยวมาเยือนปี ละ 14-15 ล้ านคน แต่ในอีกด้ านหนึ่งเราก็สมั ผัส ได้ ชดั เจนขึ ้นเช่นกันว่า พื ้นที่สีเขียวของป่ าเริ่ ม หายไปจนน่าตกใจ น� า้ ทะเลเน่าเสียเกิ ดขึน้ บ่อยครัง้ จนแทบกลายเป็ นเรื่ องปกติ ปริ มาณ ขยะจากชุมชนมีแต่เพิ่มขึ ้นๆ อย่างไร้ ที่สิ ้นสุด ขณะที่ขยะในทะเลก็มีแนวโน้ มว่าจะสูงขึ ้นจน มากกว่าปลาในทะเลเสียอีก “หากเรายังตะบี ้ตะบันใช้ ทกุ สิง่ โดยไม่ ค�านึงถึงการอนุรักษ์ ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและ สิง่ แวดล้ อม ในอีกไม่กี่ปีข้างหน้ าคนรุ่นหลังคง ไม่มีโอกาสได้ ชื่นชมความงามของธรรมชาติ ที่แท้ จริ งได้ อีกแล้ ว และนี่กระมังที่อาจจะเป็ น ฉากสุดท้ ายของการท่องเที่ยวบ้ านเราที่คงไม่มี
ใครอยากให้ เกิดขึ ้นจริ ง” เรื่องดีๆ ยังมีให้ เห็น... ผมว่าคนภูเก็ตจ�านวน มากเริ่ ม ตระหนัก ถึง ปั ญ หาเหล่า นี ้ ดูไ ด้ จ าก กระแสการดูแล ปกป้อง ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ และสิง่ แวดล้ อมก�าลังเป็ นเทรนหลักในโลก ออนไลน์บ้านเรา!! เทคโนโลยีด้านการสื่อสารกลายเป็ นส่วน ส�าคัญที่หล่อรวมความคิดเห็นของประชาชน คนเล็กคนน้ อยจากทุกภาคส่วนจนกลายเป็ น “ส�านึกพลเมือง” ที่มีความเข้ มแข็งโดยเฉพาะ ด้ านการตรวจสอบ ชี ้เป้า การกระท�าความผิด ที่เกี่ยวข้ องกับทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ สิง่ แวดล้ อม และสาธารณะ ในระดับ ที่ ภ าครั ฐ องค์ ก ร ปกครองส่วนท้ องถิ่น นักการเมือง ข้ าราชการ ทุกระดับชัน้ ต้ องรับฟั งและน�าไปปฏิบตั ิ โดยมิ อาจเพิกเฉยเช่นที่ผา่ นๆ มาได้ อีกแล้ ว นอกจากนัน้ ผมยัง เห็ น การเกิ ด ขึ น้ ของ “กลุม่ จิตอาสา” จ�านวนมากมายที่ลกุ ขึ ้นมาปก ป้องโลกใบนี ้ด้ วยการลงมือท�าทันที นี่คอื กระแส ด้ านบวก ที่ทุกภาคส่วนไม่ว่าจะเป็ น ภาครัฐ เอกชน ผู้ประกอบการ รวมถึงประชาชนทัว่ ไป ต้ องช่วยกันสนับสนุนซึง่ สามารถท�าได้ ทงการ ั้ สนับสนุนด้ านการเงิน เครื่ องไม้ เครื่ องมือ หรื อ การมี ส่ ว นร่ ว มด้ ว ยการเสี ย สละเวลา และ เรี่ ยวแรงไปเป็ นจิตอาสาด้ วยตนเองก็ได้ ในส่วนของมูลนิธิพฒ ั นาป่ าตองนัน้ ได้ มี การจัดตัง้ “ธนาคารขยะ” ขึ ้น โดยมีวตั ถุประ

IRAN REJECTS NEW ACCUSATIONS OVER SAUDI OIL ATTACK
I
ran has rejected a joint statement by the leaders of France, Germany and the UK who blamed it for attacks earlier this month on Saudi oil installations. Iran's foreign minister accused them of "parroting absurd US claims". The European leaders said there was no
other plausible explanation for the attacks, which shut down half of Saudi Arabia's oil production. But they said they remained committed to the 2015 international deal on Iran's nuclear programme.

n American wanted for serious crimes in his home country has been tracked down to Hua Hin, in a joint operation involving Thai Immigration Police and Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security in the U.S. Thai Residents reports that the man,
known only as Derrick, is wanted in the states of Virginia and North Carolina on a whole litany of charges, including possession of explosives, making bomb threats, illegal possession of weapons, DUI charges, theft, dealing marijuana, contempt of court, and obstruction of justice.

SHORT NEWS IMRAN KHAN OR NARENDRA MODI? THE TWEET BATTLE OVER DONALD TRUMP

oes sharing a stage with the Indian Prime Minister outweigh a warm interaction with Pakistan's leader? That is the question many are asking following US President Donald Trump's interactions with the leaders of the South Asian rivals. He was on stage with India PM Narendra Modi when he blamed Pakistan for harbouring those responsible for terror attacks in both the
US and India. The next day Mr Trump called himself a "friend" of Pakistan. He also said Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan was a "great leader", talked about his many Pakistani friends and proceeded to dodge a question about Mr Modi's rhetoric against Pakistan by saying that Iran was actually the "number one state of terror in the world".

ertainly, today there is no one who isn’t familiar with the name “Miss Sangjan Modnok”, Miss Mom Phuket 2019. She has been on fire lately with a strong fan club following her every move on social media. No doubt, many would like to know her a bit better and here we are going to get right into it! Q: What province are you originally from? Why did you decide to settle here in Phuket? A: I am from Udon Thani, I remember I was studying in Bangkok when some friends invited me on a trip to Phuket for the first time. We stayed near Kamala with a beautiful view of the sea like I had never seen before. That was the moment that I fell in love with Phuket. Q: What business are you managing now? A: I am managing a real estate business, we have hotels and resorts. Right now, I mostly take care of the hotel and resorts such as where we are
A: The style of décor for this resort honestly came straight
from my heart, because I cared for each and every detail in designing, choosing furniture and different décor items to make it as unique as possible. In fact, every single room has different characteristics. For example, the artwork on the walls may have an elephant or a beautiful woman or something else that helps make the guest feel special. Most of our guests are repeat customers who were impressed with their first stay here. “Talking pricing, its not as expensive as you might think, just a little over 1000 per night and particularly for local Thais
we have discounts up to 50%.” Q: What kind of personal lifestyle do you like most? A: Personally, I am a very simple person, easy to get along with. When I have free time I like to travel and exercise. Golfing is something I particularly enjoy now, I will spend half a day out on the course most of the time.
Q: What do you think you possess that helped you win the hearts of the judges in the “Miss Mom Phuket 2019” pageant?

A : I think it has to do with my confident personality, this is something that often shines above the rest. Also, my sharp answers to the judges questions fit the concept of the pageant which looks for moms who are beautiful, strong and confident through and through.
Q : What has changed since becoming “Miss Mom Phuket”
A: I must say much has changed.
What is most clear is my fan club has grown very much and now I have much more opportunities to volunteer such as various charity projects for the poor, merit earning activities and other social projects as well.

Q : As one of the leading woman figures in Phuket and the “Miss Mom Phuket 2019” winner, could you share a little about what you believe women should play a role in today’s society?
A: I see the world is changing a lot every day and women are succeeding more and being recognized more as well. I would like to encourage all the ladies who may still lack the confidence to step up and express their ideas and take action by believing in yourself. I believe there is truly nothing beyond our capability.
Q: Lastly, what principle or concept do you believe most helped you get to where you are today? A: “Do your best every day, and do your part the best”. This is my principle, and I believe I have succeeded because of my faith and confidence in myself as well as loving what I do. Because when we do what we love, our confidence will truly come from the heart and this is what brings us results and ultimately success. “My idol is my husband, because he is so detailed and thorough, never letting any small thing just pass by. Also, he is talented in many areas and having a wise man by my side helps me improve in new areas and grow more and more.”

ui Tui Shrine or Tao Bo Kaeng Shrine was built in Phuket during the 6th dynasty of Thailand. Phuket people call Chinese shrines “Ahm” whereas this shrine is located on Phuthorn Lane in Phuket Town. The meaning of Jui Tui in Chinese is a Rice threshing floor because in the past the streams water was used to power the threshing floor. In the past, about 70 years past the Chinese would organize special dances called “Ngiu” to appease the local land spirits for each area. They believed this would help their rice harvest improve. Today, the Ngiu dances are performed on Romani lane next to Thalang Rd in town during the Vegetarian Festival. The Vegetarian festival begins on the night of the first day of the 9th month according to the Chinese calendar. On this day, locals will begin there cleansing by eating only vegetables and cleaning out their homes of any spiritual obstacles. The Festival ends with 9 days of
parading through the streets in white clothing. On October 3rd 2019, 108 copies of the new Jui Tui Ahm Book was published which gathers the history and story of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival all together in one book. This festival is an important part of the history and culture of the Phuket people and is considered their unique hidden treasure that is meant to be passed on to each new generation. The Jui Tui Shrine had its 108 year Anniversary also where celebration performed dance and movies reflecting its beautiful history.
ประเพณีถอื ศีลผักศาลเจ้ าจุ้ยตุ่ย เต้ าโบ้ เก้ ง ศาลเจ้ าจุ้ยตุย่ หรื อ จุ้ยตุย่ เต้ าโบ้ เก้ ง (水碓 斗母宫) เป็ นศาลเจ้ าจีนในจังหวัดภูเก็ตเริ่ มสร้ าง
ขึ ้นในสมัยต้ นรัชกาลที่ 6 คนภูเก็ตเรี ยกศาลเจ้ า ว่า อ๊ าม(庵) ตังอยู ้ ท่ ี่ ซอยภูธร ถนนระนอง ต�าบล ตลาดเหนือ อ�าเภอเมืองภูเก็ต จังหวัดภูเก็ต โดย ความหมาย ของค�าว่า จุ้ยตุย่ จุ้ย(水) แปลว่า น� ้า ตุ่ย(碓) แปลว่า ครกต�าข้ าว สมัยก่อนนัน้ หน้ า บริ เวณศาลเจ้ า เป็ นคลอง กว้ าง มีน� ้ามาก ชาว บ้ านจึงสร้ างกังหันขึ ้น เพื่อใช้ ก�าลังจากน� ้ามาต�า ข้ าวที่เก็บเกี่ยวแล้ ว ครัง้ สมัยหนึง่ ประมาณการผ่านไปเจ็ดสิบกว่า ปี แล้ วมีงิ ้วคณะหนึง่ ได้ นา� คณะล่องใต้ ไปแสดงตาม สถานที่ตา่ ง ๆ คณะงิ ้วจะต้ องอัญเชิญ กิ ้วอ๋อง ซึง่ เป็ นสิง่ ทีพ่ วกเขานับถือ สักการบูชาอย่างสูงให้ ทา่ น ติดตามไปคุ้มครองปกปั กรักษาให้ พวกเขาอยูเ่ ย็น เป็ นสุขตลอดมา ต่อมาคณะงิ ้วดังกล่าวได้ เดินทางมาถึงจังหวัด ภูเก็ต ก็ได้ เริ่มท�าการแสดงทีซ่ อยรมณีย์ทางด้ านวัด มงคลนิมิต (ซึง่ คนพื ้นเมืองของจังหวัดภูเก็ตเรี ยก ซอยรมณีย์ว่า อ่างอ่าหล่าย) คณะงิ ้วได้ มาอยู่ท่ี จังหวัดภูเก็ตนานพอประมาณ ระหว่างที่คณะงิ ้ว อยู่ภเู ก็ตนันจั ้ ดได้ วา่ ให้ มีพิธีกินผัก(กินเจ) กัน ซึง่ พวกงิ ้วได้ ถือปฏิบตั สิ ืบอายุเป็ นตอน ๆ มา พิธีการ กินเจ คือ เริ่ มขึ ้นใน 1 ค�่า เดือน 9 ตามปฏิทิน
จันทรคติจีน (เก้ าโง้ ยโช่ยอีด) ก่อนถึงวันกินเจพวก งิว้ จะปั ดกวาด ล้ างช�าระสถานที่เครื่ องใช้ หม้ อ ข้ าว ถ้ วยชาม และสิ่งของที่จะประกอบในพิธีให้ สะอาด ผู้ที่จะเข้ าร่วมในพิธีจะต้ องแต่งตัว นุง่ ขาว ในพิธีการกินเจมีทงหมด ั้ 9 วัน 9 คืน และเมื่อวัน ที่ 03 ตุลาคม 2562 ได้ มีการเปิ ดตัว หนังสือ108 เรื่ องเล่าอ๊ ามจุ้ยตุย่ ส�าหรั บเนือ้ หาของหนังสือ และ หนังสัน้ นี ้ ได้ มีการรวบรวมเรื่ องราวของประเพณีถือศีลกิน ผักจังหวัดภูเก็ต มาไว้ ให้ เป็ นหลักฐานที่สามารถ อ้ างอิงได้ มากยิ่งขึน้ เป็ นที่ทราบกันดีอยู่แล้ วว่า กว่า 194 ปี ของการประกอบประเพณีถือศีลกินผัก จังหวัดภูเก็ตที่ได้ ถือก�าเนิดขึ ้น กระทัง่ ถึงปั จจุบนั และเมื่อปี พ.ศ.2561 กรมส่งเสริ มวัฒนธรรมได้ ประกาศให้ ประเพณีถือศีลกินผัก จังหวัดภูเก็ต ว่า เป็ นประเพณีวฒ ั นธรรม “มรดกภูมปิ ั ญญาท้ องถิ่น ทางวัฒนธรรมประจ�าจังหวัดภูเก็ตและมรดกของ ชาติไทย” ซึง่ เป็ นสมบัติ ล� ้าค่าทีไ่ ด้ มกี ารสร้ างสรรค์ สัง่ สม ปลูกฝั ง และสืบทอดในชุมชนจากรุ่ นหนึ่ง มายังคนอีกรุ่นหนึง่ ในส่ ว นของอ๊ า มจุ้ ยตุ่ย เอง ปี นี ก้ ็ ค รบรอบ 108 ปี ดังโศลกบทหนึง่ กล่าวไว้ วา่ “หนึง่ ศตวรรษ ศูนย์กลางศรัทธา และแปดมหามงคล” จนกลาย มามาเป็ นหนังสือที่ระลึกเนื่องในโอกาสฉลองครบ รอบ 108 ปี เป๊ งหยองซ้ าน จุ้ยตุย่ เต้ าโบ้ เก้ ง และ ภาพยนตร์ หนังสัน้ “เจี�ยะฉ่ายภูเก็ต”

Phakphong Thawiphat the Governor of Phuket, Lady Pilot Thani Chuangchu the Director of Phuket Airport and Mr. Phijak Sornchana the deputy director of Phuket Highways joined together to sign a contract to solve landslide issues on Route 4031 going along side the airfield. The contract was signed under a 71,320,000 Baht budget split into 2 projects which are to solve landslide issues with the air traffic zone which is alongside Route 4031. The project will apply grading and hillside refortification under a 32,970,000 Baht budget. The second project is to widen Route 4031 to reach official two lane road width standards which are 3.5 meter lanes with a 1.5 meter shoulder which will be made possible under a 38,350,000 Baht budget. The projects were discussed and confirmed in the conference room at Phuket International Airport which was joined by many departments including the airport administration, conservation dept, Phuket Highways dept, Krabi Airport Admin, Phuket Air Control Center, Air Radio of Thailand Dept, Phuket offices, local organizations as well as local community leaders.

HIST” also known as Phuket Hotels for Islands Sustaining Tourism Forum 2019 is the largest sustainable tourism conference in Asia. The event was joined by Anthony Lark the President of Phuket Hotels Association, Guy Haywood the Operational Executive of Six Senses Hotel Resort and Spa, Marisa Sukosol the THA Environment chairperson and VP of Sukosol Group. The event was hosted on September 23rd at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa in Had Karon. Tourism entrepreneurs of over 1000 people from all over Southeast Asia came together with the same focus to solve environmental problems caused by tourism. This year they are aiming at critical tourism destinations in tour cities throughout the region.
