Many politicians portray different types of selfimage and here are just a few. Mrs. Sudarat Keyuraphan known as the “Mother of Politics” has a unique identity in politics as one to be circumspect, polite and earnest. She also stands out with her duty as a mother, being sweet yet determined and always resembling someone who is ‘strong’ through thick and thin. Thanakorn Juengrungruangkit, a new young face in politics has appeared as part of the new generation of international politics which is all about “lower, let go and eliminate” a step by step methodology. He is also a very practical man, though richer than most he chooses a lifestyle that is much like the rest of us and unlike politicians of the past that often live in the luxury of their heritage. However, Thanakorn chooses to live more of a contemporary lifestyle, standing out for his efforts to work outside of Thai ways to restore the democracy and fight dictatorship. His “next door neighbor” lifestyle has gained him love from much of the teenage generation without having to dress like a Korean popstar as some may. General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, seen as the proud soldier, or at least during his first appearance in politics. He fits the government official style well with a welldecorated uniform and little patience for media. Recently, he has begun to gain a brighter reputation as a nice, energetic, fun-loving man. Recently, he has dressed more casual in some lights making him seem to have a more contemporary approach to politics and business. hailand is cur r en tly in an important time as the Coronation of King Rama X closes in this year and Thai politics prepare and discuss the establishment of a new government structure according to what has been publicized. It looks everything has begun to settle though while in the background negotiation continues to heat up as many parties wish to gain power. As the citizens we can only hope that Thailand will find the correct solution soon. Though whatever happens, life must go on!!! Let’s talk about Phuket’s situations instead. Recently, the Tourism Authority of Thailand publicized that last year’s tourist entry number reached 14 million. In that number, 10 million were foreign tourists and the remaining 4 million were Thais. The total revenue made from Phuket tourism was 423 billion Baht or 17% of Thailand’s total tourism revenue of 2.47 trillion Baht. If we look at this number from the surface, we might be proud of this massive number and continue to be the second highest tourism revenue building province just under Bangkok which made 947 billion Baht. However, if we look a little deeper, we come to the important question of how we have managed quantity while tourist quality has continued to drop lower then before. How can we solve this issue? We should start to consider what direction we want to see tourism in Phuket move towards. Because for every tourist we bring in there are many basic infrastructural demands that we as hosts most provide such as public water, public electricity, transportation, landmark conservation and waste management that continues to rise with tourism. On such topics as these, Phuket is at the point known to most as “overload”. To be honest, this quantity-based tourism is going to quickly lead to a dead end. We need to focus on quality more and the fact that tourism these days is becoming more and more diverse. In fact, one area of quality tourism that is becoming increasingly popular is

that of sports and fitness. Survey results from “Hotels. com” on tourism trends have recently shown that the sports and fitness tourism have become a big part in the future of tourism. Exercising in the midst of the sun and sea has become a leading trend among tourism activities that are shared on social media. Such posts have become so popular, the act of taking photos while exercising has gained the new terminology “welfies”. When it comes to sports and fitness tourism, Phuket certainly isn’t considered lesser than most places considering our 10 official standard golf courses. We have traditional Thai massage and health clinics up to standard all throughout the island as well as many official sport competitions including the Phuket Regatta Cup Sailing Competition, Laguna Phuket Triathlon which brings in world class athletes every year, Muay Thai which has built up many new gyms to receive the growing interest of tourists and there are yet still many more activities and opportunities to bring in more revenue for Thailand. The Phuket Beach Soccer Cup 2019 in fact holds the largest money reward in all of Thailand and is joined by many international sand soccer players from all over. The event was just recently held in Patong and helped start the promotional effort of “Patong Beach for Sports and Fitness”. The idea behind this effort is to make Patong more well-known for sports through spreading “viral clips” and posts on social media from those impressed with their time in this past year’s competition in Patong. The more the event is highlighted on social media, the more it will grow in future years. In future years, besides sand soccer we hope to see beach volleyball, beach mini marathons, jet ski, aerobics and many more sports take place competitively on the 4 km stretch of Patong beach. The city of Rome was not built in a day and tourism is likewise. We must choose what is good to develop and what obstacles need to be brought down, taken out and/or stopped! This is how we will prepare a good future together! That’s all for now!

ล่าสุดการท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทย (ททท.) ระบุวา่ ปี ที่ผา่ นมามีนกั ท่องเที่ยวเดินทางมา เที่ยว “ภูเก็ต” 14 ล้ านคน แยกเป็ นนักท่อง เที่ยวต่างประเทศ 10 ล้ านคนและนักท่องเที่ยว ชาวไทย 4 ล้ านคน สร้ างรายได้ จากการท่อง เที่ยว 4.23 แสนล้ านบาท หรื อประมาณ17% ของรายได้ จากการท่องเที่ยวทังประเทศ ้ 2.47 ล้ านล้ านบาท ถ้ ามองตัวเลขรวมๆอย่างผิวเผิน เราอาจ ภูมิใจกับรายได้ จ�ำนวนมหาศาล และการยืน อยูใ่ นต�ำแหน่งรองแชมป์ จังหวัดที่สร้ างรายได้ สูงสุด โดยเป็ นรองแค่กรุงเทพมหานคร ที่มีราย ได้ 9.47 แสนล้ านบาท แต่เมื่อเรามองลึกลงไป กลับพบค�ำถามที่ส�ำคัญก็คือ เราประสบความ ส�ำเร็ จในเรื่ องปริ มาณ แต่เรากลับถดถอยลงใน เรื่ องของคุณภาพนักท่องเที่ยวที่เข้ ามา และเรา จะท�ำอย่างไรกับเรื่ องนี ้?? เราอาจต้ องมาพิจารณากันสักหน่อยแล้ ว ล่ ะ ครั บ ว่ า การท่ อ งเที่ ย วในบ้ า นเราควรจะ ด�ำเนิ นไปทิศทางไหนดี เพราะการที่ นักท่อง เที่ยวเข้ ามาในประเทศหนึ่งคน สิ่งที่เจ้ าบ้ าน ต้ องเตรี ยมเพื่อรองรับ คือ ระบบโครงสร้ างพื ้น ฐานต่างๆ ไม่วา่ จะเป็ นน� ้ำประปา ไฟฟ้า ถนน ระบบขนส่ง แถมยังต้ องฟื น้ ฟูแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่ ทุดโทรม และก�ำจัดขยะ–น� ้ำเสีย ทีม่ ปี ริมาณเพิม่ ขึ ้นตามจ�ำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวที่เข้ ามา เรื่ องเหล่านี ้ภูเก็ตบ้ านเราแทบจะอยูใ่ นจุด ที่เรี ยกว่า “โอเวอร์ โหลด” อยูแ่ ล้ ว

aphruthapom klongsongnam is located in Nong Jik Village about 34km from Krabi town off of route 4. Near the 126 Kilometer marker turn left and drive about 5 kms in till you see the beautiful lake of Paphruthapom. The lake here is fresh water that originates from the Pra Kaew spring and is clear all the way to the bottom. The lake connects to a saltwater fed canal which is known as the the Palumphi Mangrove. Therefore this lake received the name “klong song nam” which means the two water canal. The area also has nature trails with wooden benches for forest lovers to come and enjoy the peaceful scenery.

a Nang Morah is a stream that runs down a valley with many springs along the way. Though it is a small stream you can still wade in the water and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the cool forest. Also this location is not far from Phang Nga town as well.

raiwal Waterfall is located within the Pa Kao Bantad Forest and Wildlife Reserve in Klong Chaloerm Sub-district. Here is a very large waterfall though yet quiet and shaded by a variety of vegetation. Near the waterfall is a restaurant and you can travel her from Pathalung Town on route 4. When you reach Kongrah intersection take a right and follow route 4122 for about 29 km where you will find a sign that says “3 Km to Praiwal Waterfall”. You can also take public transportation “songthaew” which runs from the Phatalung training station between 7am to 5pm. However, the last trip back to Pathalung town leaves at 3pm. Each songthaew leaves the station about every 15 minutes.
