here’s a story of a 14-year-old boy studying out in a rural school named “Monte” who’s teacher had him write an essay on “What you want to be when you grow up?”. Monte then wrote 7 pages describing his dream to own a 4000 square foot horse stable on 200 acres of land and even drew a map including all the details as well. However, the teacher returned his essay with a grade F and told him to see her after class. She then told him that she gave him an F because what he wrote is not possible since it would take a tremendous amount of money that is far beyond the status of his Monte’s family. Monte tried to explain to her that it was only his dream but she would not listen. She told Monte that he would have to re-write the essay in accordance with that which is achievable and that she would then change his grade. Monte later went home and addressed the situation to his father. His father answered him “I’m not sure I can help you with this situation son, the decision is yours to make, but I have a feeling that this decision alone will certainly have a great impact on your future!”. Monte then spent the whole week thinking over his decision and finally concluded that he would stick with the original essay and write a note to the teacher reading “You can give me the F, I’m keeping my dream”. Many years later Monte shared this story with a visitor and finished with saying “I’ve told you this story because here today I am sitting in front of a fireplace in a 4,000-square foot house set in the middle of a horse stable on 200 acres of land with that 7 page essay framed hanging over the fireplace mantle. He continued “The best part is that in the summer two years back that same teacher brought 30 students out to stay here for a week and she told me before she left: “Monte, back when I was your teacher, I stole away kid’s dreams and I feel sorry that I did that to so many. But I am glad that you didn’t let me steal away yours.” Follow your dream and don’t ever let anyone take it away from you.

The ofo bicycle is a public service bike from the recently opened project Bike Sharing in Phuket which is a part of Phuket’s drive towards becoming the Phuket Smart City in Thailand 4.0 development. The public service bicycles are designed to help lower traffic and improve ease of transportation for tourists visiting Phuket. The project opened at the beginning October allowing the public to use the service completely free for the first month. here has certainly been much opposition to Bangkok Airways’ idea of building a Phang Nga Airport on 2,000 rai of land within a National Nature Reserve. However, the expectations of the Phang Nga people has brought it back around again as the Ministry of Transportation discusses airport building plans as asolution to the overcrowded Phuket International Airport. According to research results gathered by the Offices of Thailand Commercial Aviation, Phuket International Airport is not only overcrowded but in the next 5 – 10 years will fail to receive the number of passengers expected in accordance with the tourism growth rate. The problem is the airport cannot be expanded anymore without causing severe environmental damage. Therefore, solution plans have pointed towards building a new airport in Phang Nga

The question seems clear that it’s not whether there will be a Phang Nga Airport but rather how soon. Mr. BamrungPiyanamwanit, the Mayor of the Phang Nga Provincial Administrative Organization stated that it is certainly good that the Ministry of Transportation has taken the consideration to build an airport in Phang Nga since it will not only effectively solve the overcrowded Phuket Airport issue but will also promote sustainable tourism by more evenly distributing foreign revenue into less toured areas such as that of Phang Nga. I am confident that every Phang Nga department that is involved with give full their full support for the project. Also, a great advantage of the

Phang Nga Airport would be that it would have a convenient transfer to the Phuket Airport through the monorail set to be built in the near future as well as trains connecting to Surat Thani and ultimately opening Andaman tourism to a whole new range of tour destinations. Such a fluid network of transportation among a variety of tour destination will create a sustainable growth for the tourism economy in the long term. Phang Nga is focused on developing tourism through marketing its many beautiful nature destinations and unique local culture and tradition. Phang Nga still has much potential to provide quality tours that provide visitors with a both educational and beautiful experience. The slow growth of Phang Nga’s tourism has its advantages. We have been able to learn much and adjust accordingly to provide the best sustatinability. For example, you

Omsin Bank Invests 10B Baht into “Street Food” Loan Capital

Chatchai Payunawichai the Head of Omsin Bank revealed that Omsin Bank has put together 10B Baht towards providing small business loans for primary street food business owners as well as vendors in the fresh market. The total capital will be delegated at no more than 3 million Baht per individual business at a 0.4-0.6% interest rate. The loan capital investment is expected to not only increase tourism revenue but also improve the foundational lower-class income. The total capital is expected to be completely dealt within 1 year to over 20 thousand small businesses. Borrower qualifications include an age of at least 20 years or older and street or fresh market food sales of at least 1 year or more. Loan insurance may or may not have securities depending on the bank’s consideration. However, the borrower may sign as either an individual or under a loan insurance company. Based on the banks consideration, loans for street food vendors will vary between 200,000 to 500,000 Baht while street food shop owners renting space may be eligible for as much as 3 million Baht.

ธ.ออมสิน อัด 1 หมื่นล้ าน ลุยปล่ อยกู้ “สตรี ตฟู้ด” นายชาติชาย พยุหนาวีชยั ผู้อ�ำนวยการธนาคารออมสิน เปิ ด เผยว่า ธนาคารออมสินเตรี ยมวงเงิน 10,000 ล้ านบาท เพื่อปล่อย สินเชื่อดอกเบี ้ยต�่ำให้ กบั ผู้ประกอบการรายย่อย เช่น พ่อค้ า แม่ค้า ที่เป็ นผู้ค้าริ มทาง หรื อสตรี ตฟู้ด และผู้ค้าในตลาดสดทัว่ ประเทศ วงเงินกู้สงู สุดไม่เกิน 3 ล้ านบาทต่อราย คิดอัตราดอกเบี ้ย 0.4-0.6% ต่อเดือน เป็ นการส่งเสริมการท่องเทีย่ ว และเป็ นการสร้ างอาชีพ เพิม่ รายได้ ให้ กบั ชาวฐานรากทัว่ ประเทศ คาดว่าจะปล่อยครบวงเงินกู้ ภายใน 1 ปี ช่วยเหลือผู้ค้าได้ ราว 2 หมื่นราย ส�ำหรับเงื่อนไขของสินเชื่อสตรี ตฟู้ด ต้ องเป็ นบุคคลที่มีอายุ ตังแต่ ้ 20 ปี ขึ ้นไป ประกอบกิจการขายอาหาร หรื อค้ าขายมาแล้ ว ไม่น้อยกว่า 1 ปี มีสถานที่ประกอบการแน่นอน สามารถติดต่อได้ ระยะเวลาผ่อนช�ำระคืนสูงสุดไม่เกิน 10 ปี ในส่วนของการค� ้ำประกันจะมีหลักทรัพย์ หรื อไม่มีหลักทรัพย์ ก็ได้ ขึ ้นอยูก่ บั การพิจารณาของธนาคาร แต่สามารถใช้ บคุ คล หรื อ บรรษัทประกันสินเชื่ออุตสาหกรรมขนาดย่อม (บสย.) เป็ นผู้ค� ้ำ ประกันได้ โดยธนาคารจะพิจารณาหากเป็ นผู้ค้าสตรี ตฟู้ดขายริ ม ทางจะให้ ก้ ไู ม่เกิน 2-5 แสนบาทต่อราย แต่หากกู้เพื่อปรับปรุงห้ อง แถวใช้ ค้าขายจะให้ ก้ ไู ด้ สงู สุด 3 ล้ านบาท

Let’s see Phuket’s Tourism Season Reach the World Prab's Thoughts

oday the rich are getting even richer while those with little are getting even less because the distribution of resources and income continues to be a problem for the country. As for the country’s corruption, which is one of the main reasons stated for the coup, has yet to see any decrease though they say they came to solve corruption. The Credit Suisse’s Global Wealth Report 2016 created a listing of the countries with the widest marginal gap between the rich and poor. Thailand ranked 3rd largest gap after only Russia and India. However, there is good news as well. In recent reports by the World Tourism Organization, statistics for world tourism in 2016-217 showed that Thailand was able to produce 49.9 billion USD from tourism revenue which is a 16.9% increase from the previous year. Such revenue ranked 3rd highest in the world after only the United States and Spain. This good news has really come just in time as the Thai government has just begun pushing the Amazing Thailand Year 2018 to help push Thailand tourism development forward while preserve Thai tradition. The Amazing Thailand Year 2018 will mostly emphasize local hospitality and ability to warmly welcome tourists while preserving both the beauty of Thai culture and the environment. It really comes down to everyone in every party, especially governmental such as the Patong Municipality, Phuket Province, Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to take a step back and discuss the issues as hand and seek out solutions and alternatives while the private sector and citizens fill in where necessary.

uan Luang Park (The King’s Park) is one of the largest public parks in Phuket spanning roughly 350 rai of land that once was a mineral mine some 30 years ago. However, since mining had long passed the Phuket Town Authorities decided to make the best use of the land by developing it into a public park in honor of the 9th reigning monarch. Today the park has grown into a beautiful landscape full of vibrant trees and greenery that make for a perfect atmosphere for both relaxion and exercise. Most recently, the King’s Park finished renovating the public restrooms in order to provide a better standard of public health and cleanliness. The newly renovated restrooms have been well spoken of by many allowing the King’s Park to achieve a public restroom cleanliness award by the “Phuket Kept Beautiful by Our Hands” project insuring its excellent public services.

he Ministry of Interior has announced a request to the public to plant marigolds or any type of yellow flower to be in bloom during October 25-26 for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of the 9th Reigning Monarch. Recently, at the Rawai Municipality, Mr. ArunSophot the Mayor of Rawai hosted a ceremony to hand out 15,000 marigolds to the public to plant in honor of his majesty the 9th Reigning Monarch. The ceremony gathered many local citizens to receive the marigolds.

รายงานข่ า วแจ้ ง ว่ า ในการประชุม สมาพัน ธ์ น ายก องค์การบิหารส่วนจังหวัด (อบจ.) ภาคใต้ ซึง่ อบจ.ชุมพร เป็ นเจ้ าภาพ มีวาระการประชุมทีส่ ำ� คัญ คือ การเลือกตัวแทน จาก นายก อบจ.ภาคใต้ เข้ าด�ำรงต�ำแหน่งนายกสมาคม องค์การบริ หารส่วนจังหวัดแห่งประเทศไทย ต่อจากนาย อนุวตั ร วงศ์วรรณ นายก อบจ.แพร่ ที่ก�ำลังจะหมดวาระลง ในวันที่ 8 ตุลาคม 2560 โดยต�ำแหน่งนี ้จะสลับหมุนเวียน กันไปในแต่ละภาคของประเทศ โดยครั ง้ นีเ้ ป็ นโควตาใน ส่วนของภาคใต้ ซึง่ ผลการประชุมปรากฏว่า นายก อบจ. 14 จังหวัดภาค ใต้ มีมติให้ “นายสมศักดิ์ กิตติธรกุล นายก อบจ.กระบี่”เข้ า ด�ำรงต�ำแหน่งนายกสมาคมอบจ.แห่งประเทศไทย คนต่อไป โดยต้ องเสนอชื่อเข้ าขอมติ จากที่ประชุมใหญ่ของสมาคมฯ ซึง่ จะจัดขึ ้นในช่วงเดือนพฤศจิกายนนี โดยนายสมศั ้ กดิ์ กิตติ ธรกุล จะต้ องท�ำหน้ าที่เป็ นผู้น�ำอบจ.ทัว่ ประเทศในห่วงเวลา ส�ำคัญ ซึง่ ถือเป็ นช่วงเปลี่ยนผ่านขององค์กรปกครองส่วน ท้ องถิ่น “ยุคปฎิรูป” ซึง่ มีกฎหมายหลายฉบับที่อยูใ่ นระหว่าง การด�ำเนินการ ตามรัฐธรรมนูญฉบับใหม่ นายสมศักดิ์ กิตติธรกุล ได้ รับการเลือกตังเป็ ้ นนายก องค์การบริ หารส่วนจังหวัดกระบี่ ครัง้ แรกเมื่อปี 2540 และ ได้ รับเลือกตังติ ้ ดต่อกันมาจนถึงปั จจุบนั รวม 6 สมัย ซึง่ ถือ เป็ นนายก อบจ.ที่มีความอาวุโสสูงสุดในประเทศไทย การได้ รับเลือกให้ เป็ น “นายกสมาคมอบจ.แห่งประเทศไทย ในครัง้ นี ้ถือเป็ นอีกหนึง่ ความภูมิใจของคนกระบี่ ที่จะได้ ไปท�ำงาน ในระดับชาติ ขอแสดงความยินด้ วยครับ

ecent reports released that in the Southern Regional Assembly of Provincial Authorities Conference held in Chumpon the instatement of a new President of the National Provincial Authority Assembly in place of former President Mr. AnuwatWongwan from Prae Province since finishing his term on October 8th. Southeast Asia’s First Marvel Experience Digital Theme Park Opening in Thailand

reparing to build Digital Theme Park “The Marvel Experience Thailand” in Bangkok which will be opened in the middle of next year. It will also be the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Marvel Entertainment Company in Los Angeles, U.S.A has partnered with Hero Experience Company of Thailand announcing in a press conference that The Marvel Experience Thailand will not only be the first of its kind but will much different than the rest providing the opportunity for guests to play the characters and fight evil in a variety of Marvel films including Ironman, Spiderman, Captain America, Wolverine, Thor and so on. Mr. Rick Licht the CEO of Marvel Entertainment stated that Bangkok is the most appropriate location to open the first Marvel Theme Park in Southeast Asia. The project’s building budget is set at 1 Billion Baht and will be located on 10,000 Sq.m in the Bang Na area of Bangkok. The project is

set to be open for the public in the 3rd quarter of 2018 and is primarily targeted towards favoring youth and families both Thai and foreign. Mr. Naphopadol Jason Jirasan, the Head Chairman of Hero Experience Co stated that the reason “Marvel” chose to open a Digital Theme Park in Thailand is because Thailand has a very strong Marvel fan club. AMarvel Experience Thailand will be built as two parks, one with restaurants and shops and the other for the activities. Activities will not charge at the door but there will rather be inclusive tickets sold at the entrance with prices expected to be around 35 USD similar to the pricing in the U.S. The total entrances goal for the first 3 months is set at 1 million guests.

Fishermen know that fish are spawning and will not interfere. They avoid walking on gravel at shallow water. Maybe to step on the egg. Rainy Season is Winding Down and Thailand Tours are at its Best

PhuSoi Dao is hidden within a mountain range along the Thailand-Laos border. The entire landscape here is full of beautiful greenery and flowers. However, the main spot that has caught the eye of tourists is “Lan Som” a forest full of various colorful flowers. There are also two hit waterfalls in the area, Sai Tip Waterfall and PhuSoi Dao Waterfall. Another highlight here that hardly comes second to the wonderful nature is the history of the Thai-Laos border and the Ban Rom Klao Battle that took place here. Ti Lo Su Waterfall @ Tak

For all the waterfall lovers out there, this is the location for you! Ti Lo Su Waterfall is the 6th largest waterfall in Asia pouring tons of water down all year long. The waterfall flows 300 meters down a series of levels spreading over 500 meters wide. Now at the end of rainy season is an excellent time to see the waterfall’s flourishing scenery filled with cool refreshing mist. Lo Su waterfall is no doubt one of Thailand’s best waterfalls coming only short of the best in the world. Since the waterfall is closed during rainy season from June 1st to October 31st, you could be one of the first to breathe in one of Thailand’s most majestic locations in November. I’m sure there’s been many who have taken a trip through the well-known Kun Tan tunnel but have yet to spend a night in DoiKun Tan National Park. This national park covers a wide range of mountainous forest in both Lampun and Lampang Provinces providing an excellent camping experience for those who the seclusion of the deep forest. n Wednesday the 27th of September from 11:00 a.m to 7:30 p.m at the J.W Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa, the International Board of the J.W Mariott in Thailand joined with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in organizing the World Tourism Day 2017 to recognize the value tourism has towards the Thai society, culture and economy and while promoting more sustainable tourism support and operations in Phuket

Dept of Tourism set to Improve Public Restroom Standards

ecently, Ms. Wantana Jangprajak the Director of Tourism Development at the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports was the opening speaker in a discussion meeting concerning the renovation of public restrooms in touristy locations. Representatives from the State government, Private Sector, Education Institutions and Businesses joined in to listen to the discussion at Royal Phuket City Hotel in downtown Phuket.

The increased standard of public restrooms is another way of improving the overall quality of tourism in Thailand.

Such magazine influenced the start of many new Hijab fashions including jean

hijabs and sport hijabs that sold off the shelfs. Her dream had always been to have a successful profession that sets an example for the younger Muslim generations. he Ban Chong Tai village is a small Muslim community located near the sea in Kalai Sub-district of Takua Thung District in Phang Nga. The village locals took refuge there over 200 years ago building a livelihood in the fishing industry. Today the village has several beauty viewpoints and its docks are the nearest to the world famous James Bond Island. The nature and greenery in the village is abundant with mangroves and sea life which is the reason the locals here have set towards developing the community into a tour destination to provide additional revenue for the community’s future. The community already has homestays and kayaking tours as well as various local fisherman activities for tourists to experience. The village also provides boat rides out to most of the local island sites including James Bond Island, Khao Phing Kan, Lod Cave, Khao Kradong Cave and the Phang Nga Bay.
