The recently opened Bangkok Sky at Asiatique the Riverfront has overcome a controversial inception to prove a big draw to camera toting tourists and Bangkok night time revellers.
But an ill advised dual pricing policy almost derailed the attraction before it had even started operating, with foreigners being asked to pay more for their ride than locals.
Standing 60 metres tall, the giant ferris wheel provides panoramic views of Bangkok city centre and the lively Chao Phraya River.
All prices are equal now, however, and any dissension has evaporated into the sultry Bangkok evening sky, as enthusiasts flock to get their bird s eye view.

Welcome to the Pleasure Dome Chocolate lovers have been flocking to the recently revamped Siam Center to sample the treats in store at the Magnum Cafe. A variety of imaginative Belgian chocolate based themes have been created to give those with a sweet tooth their regular fix, with 20 toppings providing patrons with a chance to run riot using their own creativity. There are also 12 Magnum gourmet items that have been created by a famous British chef, as well as a diverse range of more substantial offerings including one plate meals and breakfast and dinner sets. Over 40 food and beverage items are on the menu, with pleasure seekers the obvious target for the wide range of ice creams, sweets, pastas, pizzas and pastas. Magnum Cafe can be found on the ground floor of the shopping centre; it is open from 10am until 10pm seven days a week. VIE Hotel in Bangkok has changed the emphasis of their hip nightspot with the inauguration of YTSB: the Yellow Tail Sushi Bar. Fresh interior decor sees the former jazz hotspot transform into a Japanese food and beverage complex. A stylish sushi restaurant is now located on the third floor outdoor terrace and the fourth floor airconditioned dining room, while the second floor features the new fashion forward designed VIE Bar that is now operating under the motto DnD (Dine and Drink). The hotel usually attracts socialites, models and celebrities, and the launch party on Friday January 25th was no exception, with fashion shows, champagne, cocktails, saki and, naturally, a great range of sushi and Japanese grilled snacks the order of the day.
