Gram Times Goodie Bag Grams with Victoria Trang Even though December was only last month, it feels like it has been an entire eternity since it has passed. Which means that I don't remember much about the grams that were made at the start of last month, but I'll try my best to remember. At first, we started making the grams a few days into selling them, which was mainly making the trees where the chocolates were supposed to be stuffed in before putting together the rest of the grams. I totally did not almost rage quit when trying to put together my first few sad-looking trees, but eventually like everyone else, I got the hang of it. We were able to sell and make a good amount more before delivering them on the Friday before finals. Delivering the grams were also entertaining to see the officers running frantically all over school to deliver grams. All in all, the grams were great as a successful fundraiser and making people's day when grams were delivered to them!

My First Event I Hosted Merry Little Cleanup with Ualani Nguyen When I arrived there, I quickly checked in and took my gears. After finishing getting ready, I was told to go downhill to this bank of a creek. When I saw the area that I was heading to, it kind of surprised me. The area that was assigned for the clean up looked like a legit landfill. There was not a tiny space of the ground to be seen in the area, it was all covered in trash. There were even legit piles of trash. It wasn't just any original trash too; it wasn't just the typical type of trash you would see at parks. There were a bunch of soggy clothes, electrical & computer parts, and there was even a mattress! Nevertheless, when we finally finished cleaning up that area, we headed out to the area that is across the creek. When we arrived, we, of course, started cleaning up. Though, as I was cleaning up the area, out of nowhere, a concrete rock got thrown at my poor left foot! :( Sadly, I was diligently trying to make the environment a better place so I was unable to see who threw that rock at me. But oh man, if I knew who threw that rock, I would have given them a piece of my mind! Anyhow, after we finished cleaning up, we placed most of our trash bags into this target shopping cart we conveniently found. I didn’t have my own trash bag because I already filled up the one I initially took and was too lazy to get another one so during the rest of the time, I just threw all the trash I picked up in other people’s trash bags. Then, when we finished packing up, we headed back to where we checked in and threw all our trash bags in this garage truck, and checked out. And funny thing is, when everyone was checking out, there was this large group taking a group picture and somehow, I got in the picture. Like, I was legit smiling and everything in the picture. After the picture was taken, I told some random girl, that also was in the picture, about how I was probably not supposed to be in the picture and she just said that it was fine and I was like “Hm, ok then, I guess.” Anyway, despite the hardships I faced, this event kind of holds a special space in my heart because it's the first-ever volunteering event I hosted! :)

Spreading Love Through Letters Love For Our Elders with Stephanie Gao This month, I had the opportunity to host a letter writing service event dedicated to elders! Our Love for Elders is an organization where people can write letters to specific people in nursing homes that are lonely and need a little bit of joy and love sprinkled into their lives. There was a list of elders on their website of who we could write letters to and descriptions about each of them from their relatives to get to know them better. I picked a few elders of who I should write letters to and started writing! At first it was really difficult to find the words to say, but I realized that I just had to make it as meaningful as possible and showed them that someone cared! It was really fun to be able to decorate the cards and do my best to try and make these elder's day feel better. I used different markers to and pens to make the letters colorful and even drew some images to make it more decorative. This event was quite meaningful and knowing that I had the opportunity to make an elder's day brighter made it even better!

Harvesting in Super Cold Weather Harvest at Hester Farm with Lori Lew It was a very cold morning when I arrived at Hester Farm. It wasn't cold like it was 40 degrees, it was 39 degrees :oo. I met up with one of the people in charge of the harvesting, her name was Mary. She gave my friends and I a short introduction about the farm and how to harvest the veggies and other plants. After that, we got started, the plants we were harvesting were for a salad. I got my clippers and started picking flowers. I picked a variety of purple, yellow, and red flowers, those were to help decorate the salad. The farm wasn't the biggest, but had a large variety of veggies and other plants everywhere which I thought was really cool. There was even a small artificial creek which around it, grew plants that would grow around a real creek. I was able to meet the founder of the farm and she was super nice and explained to us their goal of this farm and their upcoming goals in the future. Hopefully I can volunteer at this place again soon since it was a really fun experience!
