Vaccination super site in Garden City
Winnipeg’s second vaccination super site is expected to open as early as May 7 at 770 Leila Avenue, inside the Winnipeg Soccer Federation’s North complex, next to the Garden City Shopping Centre. The new site will have a maximum capacity of 4,154 COVID-19 vaccine doses per day, bringing a much needed boost in the race between mass vaccinations and faster spreading COVID variants of concern. The super site will be especially welcome in the Garden City area where many Filipinos live. At the beginning of March, the Province of Manitoba released data showing that Filipinos accounted for the greatest share of all COVID-19 cases compared to our share of the provincial population. Over a million now vaccinated in the Philippines As of April 12, the Philippines has vaccinated over a million individuals belonging to the top three priority groups – health workers, senior citizens, and persons with more than one underlying health-related condition. The country has so far administered 1,139,644 COVID -19 vaccine doses according to Malacañang. Of this number, 1,007,356 people were given a first dose and 132,288 were provided a second dose.
