PIM welcomed Mr. Michael O’Shaughnessy, Director, International Relations, Massey University (MU) on 19 June 2015 to continue identifying collaboration points based on his last visit in September 2014. He was joined by Ms. Karen Campbell, Trade Commissioner and Mr. Thanadej Trakulyingyong, Senior Business Development Manager, from the Embassy of New Zealand, Bangkok. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sombat Thiratrakoolchai, Senior Vice President - Quality & Standard System Centers, CPF Co.,Ltd. and the Advisor of the Faculty o f A g ro - Industry (AGI) chaired the session,

Cambodia’s PPIU to sign MOU, deepen relations A four-member delegation from Phnom Penh International University (PPIU), Cambodia, led by Ms. Tep Kolap, Rector, came to outline details on formal agreements with PIM and future collaboration last 28 May 2015. PIM President and Associate Professor, Dr. Sompop Manarungsan, received the PPIU delegation to the campus, basic and higher education for Asia. Ms. Tep and the PPIU team were then introduced to Mr. Phornvit Phacharintanakul, Vice President for Academic extend PIM’s programs to Cambodia, where the CP Group also has a presence. Ms. Tep was accompanied Mr. Sum Samach, Assistant to Rector. To foster good relations and instigate academic collaboration, Mr. Phornvit invited PPIU to select two outstanding students to study the international MBA ship. Dr. Veerisa Chotiyaputta, Assistant Director, International College added that PPIU may also be students. Dr. Usanee Kulintornprasert, Director, International Relations invited Ms. Tep to be a guest speaker, noting her wide range of business experience and

New partnership with Woosong University, PIM increases reach in Korea Directors from Woosong University’s SolBridge International Business School (SISB) and Sol International School (SIS) met with PIM management preparation for a formal agreement last 5 June 2015.

Ms. Oksana Hegay, Associate Director, International Relations, noted that SISB is increasingly becoming the choice for many gifted young Asian leaders also due in part to the campus’ location in Daejon, renowned as the Silicon Valley of Korea. Dr. Allison Kim, Department Chair, Department of Medical Services Management and Operations Director, SIS proceeded to explain the cherry-picked from signature programs in Woosong University. Dr. Allison and Ms. Oksana expressed their strong desire to partner with PIM, inviting faculty members from PIM as guest lectures and special sections. They also discussed possibilities of dual-degrees and provided concrete opportunities for internships to current PIM students.

Mr. Mana Amatanon, General Manager, International Business Networking Management, CP ALL c o n v e y e d appreciation for SISB’s and SIS’s proposals and provided a high level of operations support for the visiting Korean guests. Dr. Veerisa Chotiyaputta (International College) provided details on the modular format and schedule of iMBA. Ms. Walee Herabut and Ms. Pasprapa Tragoolin, both lecturers from the Faculty of Business Administration, offered some ideas on internships for undergraduates taking business administration.

Welcoming the NPUST’s new director for international relations, Mr. Jik-Chang Leong, Mr. Pollasak represented PIM’s management team. Mr. Leong was accompanied by Mr. Hung-Yang Lin, Assistant Director, International Relations and Ms. Jaruwan Jaranupong, Director, Taiwan Education Center (TEC), Thailand. He expressed warm wishes on the new partnership with PIM and invited the Institute to participate in the upcoming Taiwan Higher Education Exposition, B a ng k o k , 20 1 5 o rg a ni ze d b y T EC . N P U ST will be one of the exhibitors in this event.

Mr. Viwat Maikaensarn, Associate Dean, Faculty of Innovative Agricultural Management (IAM) also met with the representatives from NPUST, which is PIM’s partner through a memorandum of understanding that was signed earlier this year. Also attending from the IAM faculty were lecturers, Dr. Korawit Chaisu and Dr. Monruedee Chantharat. Representing the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mr. Sorasit Phadungrutchadakit, Lecturer, Faculty of Liberal Arts also provided an overview of the Business Chinese program available at PIM. He was accompanied by Ms. Zhang Li, Lecturer, Faculty of Liberal Arts.

PIM receives new Director for Korean Education Center (KEC)

Mrs. Yoon So Young, Director, Korean Education Center, was welcomed to the PIM campus on 27 May 2015 by several representatives from CP ALL’s executive team. She was accompanied by Ms. Yoon Hye Jung, Lecturer, Chulalongkorn University.

PIM faculty and management executives led by Mr. Phornvit welcome Mrs.Yoon So Young and Ms. Yoon Hye Jung (Korean Education Center) to PIM campus.

To begin the session, Mr. Mana Amatanon from CP ALL and Dr. Usanee Kulitornpraset of PIM provided pertinent details about the CP Group’s mission and PIM’s role in the development of a happy and healthy society. As a former senior administrator in Korea’s Ministry of Education, Mrs. So Young thanked the team for taking the initiative to collaborate and is looking forward to exploring mutually aligned Korean education system while also learning from Thailand’s good practices in higher education applicable to Korea.

She also emphasized that Korea is currently looking particularly in language education which may be useful for PIM. Ms. Sathita Thanasabkasem, Deputy Director, Cross Cultural Center added that her team is currently developing a special program in Korean language. Mrs. So Young and Ms. Hye Jung both provided some concrete advice in terms of delivery and quality; expressing that they can assist PIM in developing this initiative.

Finnish education experts introduce renowned education systems top-performing basic education and vocational education approaches developed by the Scandinavian nation.

Ms. Paivi Korhonen, Co – founder of Koulu Group led the Finnish group comprised of Mr. Antti Kaskinen, CEO, Koulu Group; Mr. Petri Lounaskorpi and Dr. Rangsima Sunila, both educational consultants. They were accompanied by Mr. Arnate Smerasuta, Chief

Ms. Paivi provided an outline of possible ways that the Koulu Group can assist PIM during this developmental stage. Mr. Petri added on to the discussion saying “The Finnish way encourages creativity rather than standardization, trust instead of test-results.”

Dr. Usanee Kulintornprasert, Director, International Relations noted PIM’s preparation for a demonstration school, also known as Satit PIM. Ms. Chanidapha Nonklang of Satit PIM emphasized that constructionism, a learning theory which focuses on experiential and student-centered learning, will be used primarily for the demonstration school.

Second Japanese Networking Program A mid to high-level networking exchange transpired ALL’s international business networking management divisions.

Chaired by PIM’s VP for Administration, Mr. Siam Chocksawangwong, welcomed all participants and conveyed the importance of meeting regularly to share experiences and initiatives related to CP ALL’s partners and activities in Japan. Over 20 faculty, session. Assist. Prof. Dr. Datchakorn Tancharoen presented key points discussed with Nagaoka University of Technology, Institute of Technologists, Nakanihon Automotive College, and University of Tokyo including online delivery of courses, study trips, and scholarships available for high achieving students. Mr. Mana Amatanon of CP ALL then introduced PIM’s special guests from KOWA Group, a complexJapanese corporate entity that consists of many associated companies engaging in diversified business activities. The session concluded with the CP and PIM team extending a warm welcome to the guests from the KOWA Group.

Presiding over the completion event on 15 May 2015, Phacharintanakul and Mr. Siam Chocksawangwong, Vice President of CP All PCL congratulated the students for their commitment to this rigorous program in business administration and their dedication to The students are currently enrolled in the Liberal Arts program in Yunnan Normal University Business courses in Kunming. Beginning in August 2014, the one-year coursework at PIM was comprised of several key topics on modern trade business management; literacy; integrated social sciences; law; and Thai history, culture, and language. Internships in King Power were also organized in order for the students to gain real world experience in retail. Extracurricular activities developed particularly for this group of exchange students include a leadership program; seminar series covering topics on Thai political economy, history of Thailand, and personality development; and visits to some key historical attractions; trips to Ichitan and CP ALL subsidiaries including the Luxellence Center, 7-11 store model, and CP RAM Food Innovation Center. The students were also matched with host families to help them adjust to living away from home, in Thailand.

UiTM, Malaysia’s largest university, visits PIM A study group comprised of twenty-seven students and faculty members from Universiti Teknologi MARA, stop of their business exposure trip.

PIM welcomed faculty and students from UiTM’s International Business Management bachelor degree program on 10 June 2015. The visit is part of UiTM’s study tour for exploring business opportunities in Thailand. The students visited Khao C.P., a rice research and refinery facility in Ayutthya province, which produces the Royal Umbrella brand of jasmine rice. The group was welcomed by Mr. Ongart Jumpakanun, Executive Vice President of Production who explained the intricacies of producing high quality rice. The group was then brought to the command room where data is visualized real-time to support decision-makers. The guided tour included access to some of the research laboratories and robot-automated packaging area.

The visit continued in the PIM campus, where Mr. Derek Thitsanuthit, Lecturer, International College moderated a session wherein topics covered included human resource practices present at CP, details about the inclusive franchising model for Thailand, and the attractiveness of PIM’s educational system.

P&G provides iMBA students internship opportunities Representatives of P&G Thailand visited the PIM campus on 29 May 2015 to discuss current internship opportunities for iMBA students.

Led by Mr. Paul E. Albano, Sales Director, Customer Business Development, P&G Thailand representatives visited PIM and were welcomed by the Institute’s executive management and CP ALL’s international business networking management team. He was accompanied by Mr. James Holden, HR Manager and Ms. Kwanrutai Unanupap, Sales Manager - Modern Trade. Beginning with a presentation about PIM in general and iMBA specifics, the session covered several iMBA students to intern at P&G and future career opportunities. PIM was informed that there are two available positions on category management in health care and softeners, and human resources, both of which will take approximately 3 months to complete.

Mr. Paul was also guest speaker during an iMBA session on 6 June 2015 where he also outlined the project details and opportunities available at P&G for the PIM graduate students. He added that P&G is looking forward to hosting a P&G Day at PIM in the near future.
