PRAYER OF PREPARATION
Loving God, like the prodigal son, we have seen up close the error of our ways. In this season of Lent, we have reflected on our deep need for you, and we are seeking to return to you. We give thanks that you run out to meet us as a loving parent would. Help us to trust your love enough to continue returning. Amen.
SALUTATION
One: In Christ, there is a new creation. Many: The old has passed away; everything is new!

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Happy are those who are honest with God. Many: Happy are those whose sin is forgiven.
One: Therefore, let all who are faithful offer prayer to the Lord in times of distress.
Many: For God is our refuge and protects us in times of trouble.
One: Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!
Many: Let us shout for joy! Let us worship God!

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep, we have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts, we have offended against thy holy laws, we have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought to not to have done, and there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, spare thou those who confess their faults, restore thou those who are penitent, according to thy promises declared unto humankind in Christ Jesus our Lord; and grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of thy holy Name. Amen. † SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON
The Almighty and merciful Lord grant us absolution and remission of all our sins, true repentance, amendment of life, and the grace and consolation of his Holy Spirit. Amen.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
from the Confession of 1967
The reconciling work of Jesus was the supreme crisis in the life of humankind. His cross and resurrection become personal crisis and present hope for all people when the gospel is proclaimed and believed. In this experience, the Spirit brings God’s forgiveness to all, moves people to respond in faith, repentance, and obedience, and initiates the new life in Christ.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Lord Jesus, Think on Me Richard Shepard Lord Jesus, think on me and purge away my sin; from earthborn passions, set me free and make me pure within. Lord Jesus, think on me, with many a care oppressed; Let me thy loving servant be and taste thy promised rest. Lord Jesus, think on me amid the battle’s strife; in all my pain and misery be thou my health and life. Lord Jesus, think on me nor let me go astray; through darkness and perplexity, point thou the heavenly way. Lord Jesus, think on me when floods the tempest high; when on doth rush the enemy, O Savior, be thou nigh! Lord Jesus, think on me that when the flood is past, I may the eternal brightness see and share thy joy at last.
