DIRECTOR’S NOTE Welcome! Like so many my age, much of my childhood was consumed by an obsession with Disney’s High School Musical, which premiered when I was the age of our youngest cast members. Its centering of the arts reinforced my budding passion for theatre. I aspired to be as well rounded as Gabriella and Troy, even trying my turn on my school’s basketball team. But more profoundly, its messages of acceptance and honesty empowered me and my peers to bring our entire selves to the table. While this story meant so much to me as a young person, it is even more special to revisit Disney’s High School Musical with this unbelievably talented group of students and team of collaborators.
We truly were “all in this together,” mounting this show in just under a month. These students pushed themselves as performers — navigating various music styles, performing multiple tracks, and even learning basketball! They’ve created a space that is far different than the “cliquey” East High School — welcoming new friends, supporting their peers, and daring to try new things. Whether this is your first or hundredth time engaging with this story, I hope you’ll join me in celebrating these talented Wildcats, the community they’ve built, and their message of authenticity.

YOUNG ARTIST PRODUCTION What is a Young Artist Production? The foundation of PMT’s mission is built on arts education, development, mentorship, and providing performance opportunities for young artists. Students at PMT Conservatory receive a truly unique experience to use their training in fully produced productions of their own in which they take on roles as performers and technical theater crew. Whether a student wishes to pursue a career in the arts or another field, Young Artist Productions provide an opportunity for growth and building transferable life skills in our future leaders. Patrons attending Young Artist Productions will be a part of it all as they experience and enjoy the best of our region’s talented youth in professional-quality entertainment!
