A NOTE FROM OUR CONSERVATORY DIRECTOR Over the years, I’ve learned three very important lessons about the theatre: the understudy is never wrong, you can’t hear a smile, and most importantly, always work as a team. Teamwork is a life lesson that is so undeniably valuable, and applies to every profession or activity. One of the main goals this summer was to teach these students teamwork as it applies to theatre. When I was growing up, I used to put on plays at home with my siblings. We would use whatever we had to make the costumes, set, and props. Creating a piece of art from scratch as a team gives more meaning and depth to the work. The actors learn to appreciate it, and in turn, they create memories that they will never forget. We would usually put on plays of the stories we knew by heart. Whether it be Peter Pan, Dorothy, or Percy Jackson, we always did our very best to work as a team and bring these situations to life. Storybooks can sweep us off to faraway lands, introduce us to new friends, and ignite our imaginations like never before. This summer, PMT Conservatory brings several classics to life, as we celebrate storybooks on stage! My dream is for audiences to see how each student did their part to make beautiful and fun pieces of theatre, and how these wonderful creative teams inspired these students to work together, as we should all strive to do in our everyday lives.
