Azalea Drive Realignment Project

The Azalea Drive Realignment Project has achieved a significant milestone Temple residents and visitors can now enjoy the beautiful, freshly paved and improved roadway, which officially welcomed back the public on December 20, 2023. Site work began back on April 24, 2023. During approximately eight months of construction, the road was closed from S. 31st St. to the southern edge of the Temple Mall. The project mpasses a range of cements, including road nment, beautiful new aping, and updated zation for your safety and nience. Visit Azalea Drive and e changes for yourself!

Solar Eclipse in Central Texas

On April 8, 2024, Temple, Texas, will be in the path of totality for the sun's total eclipse. This event marks the last total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States until 2044. Those within the path of totality will experience a darkened sky resembling dawn or dusk, and, weather permitting, they may witness the sun's corona, typically obscured by the sun's bright face.

Solar Eclipse Town Hall Meetings

The City of Temple is hosting three town halls for the community to receive information and have the opportunity to ask questions. The first session took place on Wednesday, February 28.

The upcoming town halls will be held on the following dates:

Saturday, March 2

2 p.m. at Grace Temple Ministries (801 S 13th St, Temple, TX 76504)

Tuesday, March 12

6 p.m. at Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center (3303 N 3rd St, Temple, TX 76501)

Residents are invited to attend one of these public meetings to hear from Temple's Emergency Management Coordinator about what the eclipse is, how to view it, and how to prepare.

Due to this spectacular event, Temple could see an increase in population for several days before and after the event. Factors of a potential influx could include things like traffic congestion and heavy cell usage.

The City's Emergency Management Coordinator and representatives from both Temple Fire and Rescue and the Temple Police Department will be present and available to answer questions regarding this aspect of the eclipse as well.

City of Temple of 2nd Annual Hiring Event:

Join us on Wednesday, March 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center for the City of Temple 2nd Annual Hiring Event. Temple Community Treasures Contest Lunch at the Temple Airport

The Temple Historic Preservation Board and Kasberg, Patrick, and Associates (KPA) of Temple are pleased to present the 6th Annual Temple Community Treasures Photography Contest and the 3rd Annual Temple Community Treasures Painting Contest. This contest is part of Temple's observance of National Preservation Month in May. It aims to draw community attention to protecting and preserving our historic buildings. Winners will be honored and recognized during May, National Preservation Month. KPA will also award the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners with cash prizes. Soccer Field Dedication

The City of Temple is set to host a special dedication event at the Crossroads Soccer Complex in honor of Peter den Harder. Since his arrival to Temple in 1980, Peter den Harder became a beloved member of the Temple community, demonstrating profound love for his family and an enduring passion for soccer. Over the course of 50 years, he actively engaged with the sport as a player, coach, and referee Sadly, den Harder passed away on July 30, 2020, at the age of 64. This dedication serves as a special occasion to acknowledge and celebrate the significant contributions of Peter den Harder.

2024 Youth Summer Camps

Embark on a summer of excitement with Camp Discovery and Camp Pathfinder! Our dynamic camps cater to different age groups, ensuring a tailored experience for all young adventurers. Camp Discovery, perfect for ages 5-7, offers a delightful blend of cooperative play, indoor and outdoor games, and skill-building hands-on activities. Meanwhile, Camp Pathfinder awaits campers aged 8-13, providing a platform for more autonomy and choice in activities like engaging games, crafts, and thrilling adventures.

2024 Pool Season Summer Hiring

Want to make a splash this summer? Join our team of lifeguards at Temple Parks and Recreation!

We're offering $15 per hr. for lifeguards, as well as, we'll waive lifeguard classes for anyone who works for us!

We're also looking for an Assistant Pool Manager, paying $16.50 per hr, and Pool Managers paying $18 per hour

Public Safety

Our police and fire departments are crucial to our community’s well-being, ensuring the protection and security of community members. From patrolling neighborhoods and investigating crimes, conducting safety awareness programs, offering emergency medical assistance and community outreach, public safety professionals play a pivotal role in safeguarding the community while instilling peace of mind and fostering a sense of security among community members. Our first responders are at the forefront of protecting our neighborhoods, providing essential aid during crises, and promoting a sense of safety and reassurance among our community members.

Push-In Ceremony & Open House

Join us on Friday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for an exciting opportunity to tour the fire station, participate in the push-in ceremony of the latest fire truck designed for Station 6, and enjoy lunch with our firefighters!

9 PD Kiddo Card Event

The next Temple PD Kiddo Card event will take place on March 9 at Black Rifle Coffee Co. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kiddo cards are child identification cards that for parents. In the event a child is separated from their family, the parent or guardian can give the Kiddo card to an officer who will then take a picture of it and send it out to all officers working that day.

Extended Siren Test

Our emergency management staff will conduct extended testing on our outdoor warning sirens on the first Saturday of March and April. The siren will sound for 3 minutes, which is the duration it would sound during a real-life weather emergency. Good Friday Collection Schedule

Garbage, recycling, and brush/bulk collections will run on a regular schedule on March 29, Good Friday. Please have your items to the curb by 7 a.m. City offices will be closed on March 29 and reopen on April 1 at 8 a.m. Public Works would like to ask your help in making sure yard waste does not get blown into the streets, the storm drains, or put in your recycle bins!

Brush and bulk collections run heavy in the spring, keep an eye on templetx.gov/solidwaste for any delays that may occur or to view collection information. We appreciate your patience as crews are working hard to stay on schedule.

We want to remind you to register your utility account by visiting templetx.gov/paymybill and share some important reminders with you about the process.

Important Reminders:

Account Numbers: When registering your account, do not include the leading zeros in your account number. For example: 000012345-000045678 should be entered as 12345-45678.

Credit Card Autopay: If you were previously enrolled in credit card autopay, you will be required to re-enroll on the new payment portal.

Paperless Billing: By default, everyone with an email address on file was converted to paperless billing. If you would like to switch back to paper billing, you can do so through your online account settings or by contacting the utilities office.

Mobile Device: When using a mobile device, the screen layout will look different than a desktop computer. This may require you to scroll down to see all the options available.

Receiving an Error Message: If you are receiving an error message when trying to access templetx.gov/paymybill, you might need to clear your cache by accessing your online browser settings and try accessing the web page again.

PROTECT YOUR WATER:

Backflow Assembly Testing

PROTECT YOUR WATER

Protect hose bibs (outside faucets) by installing a vacuum breaker on all hose bibs capable of having a hose attached.

Have the backflow assembly tested by a certified tester as required.

Never use unprotected faucets to fill containers such as pools, stock tanks, hot tubs, etc.

Protect your drinking water and your community’s water supply by ensuring you are taking the proper measures to properly protect cross-connections.

BACKFLOW:

When water backflows, it can carry contaminants back into your home and/or the water distribution supply.

CROSS-CONNECTIONS:

A cross-connection is a point in a plumbing system where it is possible for a non-potable substance to come in contact with the potable drinking water supply. Common cross-connections include garden hoses, lawn sprinkler systems, water softeners, and private wells.

Water Conservation

The City of Temple is still under Moderate Water Shortage mandatory restrictions. The Brazos River Authority announced levels at Lake Belton dropped below the Stage 2 – Drought Warning Trigger.

Irrigate Responsibly

Pause your irrigation systems and don't water when it's raining.

Raise Your Lawn Mower Blades

Longer grass promotes deeper root growth, resulting in a more droughtresistant lawn, reduced evaporation, and fewer weeds.

Mandatory Watering Schedule

All water customers are currently required to participate in a water conservation schedule based on their address.

8 p.m to Midnight

Residents with Even-Numbered Addresses:

TEMPLE TALK: In Case You Missed It

Black History Month Recognition Event

The City of Temple held its 3rd annual Black History Month Ceremony, emphasizing this year's theme, "African Americans and the Arts." The event celebrated and honored Temple's Black community leaders, business owners, and City employees with inspirational speeches and a showcase of artistic talent. City Manager Brynn Myers highlighted the city's commitment to diversity, recognizing the significant impact of Black individuals in our community. Mayor Tim Davis presented a proclamation to Dr. Zoe Grant, Temple Branch NAACP President and District 2 Councilwoman, encouraging the community to reflect, learn, and appreciate the cultural richness of Black History Month.
