COMING HOME Dear Friends, As I reflect on The Plucky Knitter’s 10th Anniversary, I can’t help but think of the incredible journey that has transpired over the past decade. Ten years ago, it was just me in my kitchen, needing to satisfy my own tastes as a knitter— trying to find just the right colors, on just the right yarns. Experimenting. Not quite hitting the mark. More experimenting. Trying again…and again… and again. Until finally, liking, even really liking, what I came up with. And then, finding the courage to step out there and see if others liked what I created as The Plucky Knitter. Imagine my surprise and delight and overwhelming gratitude when I realized I was not alone in my journey. Others were searching for the same perfect colors and yarn bases, too! Those early sales were very affirming (and gave me the push I needed to keep going when those inevitable bumps in the road appeared), but more importantly, I was drawn to an immediate sense of community felt with all of you, my customers and friends. As The Plucky Knitter grew, it changed from a “me” to an “us” venture. I was fortunate to be joined by my sister, Hayley, and over time, we have expanded to a true family business. So now, on our 10th Anniversary, we can all celebrate how much we’ve grown over the past decade— artistically, technically, and personally, but always with an eye on how and why we started in the first place. With a shared philosophy of creating beautiful knits (or crochet!) in unique colorways using luxurious fibers. Aspiring to achieve a personal style that’s individual and original. Embracing the up-and-down journeys of life and the milestones along the way.

The Plucky Knitter

With all this in mind, it seemed fitting to name our 2017 Fall Collection, Coming Home. The setting of all the photographs is around our home in Michigan, where autumn truly comes alive and evokes special memories of falling leaves, hot cider, crackling fires, and moonlit hayrides. With its focus on comfy and cozy, this collection is particularly special to me. Long cardigans, bulky turtlenecks, and warm wraps—all the things that are perfect for curling up on the couch and enjoying the irreplaceable comforts of home. This collection has been a truly collaborative effort. Heartfelt thanks go to Hayley for her creative input and unwavering support over the years. My relationship with Jill Zielinski goes back to the early days of Plucky, and I greatly appreciate her contributions of both pattern and graphic design. Throughout this journey, I have been fortunate to meet and work with so many other talented people, including Michele Wang. It’s a privilege to welcome her and her extraordinary talent to this project. My biggest thanks, however, go to you, Plucky’s dear and valued customers. I am so grateful for your support, inspiration, and understanding over the last decade. We truly would not have reached our ten-year milestone without you! As we celebrate our shared journey and this beautiful fall season, I hope you enjoy Coming Home with Plucky. With warmest thanks and heartfelt gratitude,

PLUCKY YARNS All Plucky Knitter yarns are custom milled to meet my personal standards of excellence, responsibility, and ethical practices. (I’lI be the first to admit I’m incredibly particular!) The fibers used to create our yarns originate from various places – both domestic and international. I painstakingly work with our mills to personally develop and test every Plucky Knitter base. I focus on combining creativity with my love for luxury and the finest quality, seeking the most exclusive fibers, examining their loft and feel, playing with different twists, and constantly experimenting with unique blends. I believe our bases are a worthy result. Every skein is hand-dyed in one of our signature, artisanal colorways, at our studio, using techniques we have developed and refined. We are always dreaming up new and different colorways, drawing on a passion for creating tones and hues that come alive on our custom bases. And, it goes without saying, we take delight in coming up with the names for all of our colorways – they have a story all their own! When you purchase Plucky Knitter yarns, you do so knowing that our custom luxury bases, dyed by hand in our one-of-a-kind colorways, are unique and are not available anywhere else in the world. We are proud of each and every skein of Plucky Knitter yarn we produce.
