CHRISTMAS PARTY
Plymouth Motorcycle Club
Editor Cheyenne Johnson Email chey15@hotmail.co.uk
Well folks what a brilliant party. I won’t go on too much about it, Richard has already written a bit about it in the mini news letter you had earlier. Lets just say, if you didn’t go then you missed a very good party and a first class evening. I know a few members didn’t go because of what they were told, all I can say to that is “don’t listen to others” come along next year and see for yourself, it really was a very enjoyable evening, a good time was had by all as they say. The disco for the night was Steve Nott playing a wide variety of music and before long getting most party goers up on the dance floor with all sorts of moves. Have you ever noticed how some people seem to get up on the dance floor the more they drink? umm. As is usual the raffle prizes were brilliant, one of the bar staff won and picked out a case of beer, the last prize was a model warship and that was won by “Titch” who works on warships (says he does) in the dockyard, talk about irony. First class food was on offer again as usual for the buffet with a wide variety to choose from. A lot of time and effort was put in but worth every bit. Couldn’t find fault with this evening if you wanted to, the fact that every one enjoyed themselves says it all. Pete has put the photos on the web site at. www.plymouthmcc.co.uk
DO YOU REMEMBER Do you think you can remember the things you and the club got up to in 2014? well, lets see, here are some of the events you and the club did partake in and things you might have forgotten. A look back over the last year, a reminiscence if you like. Do you remember that the first club night was on the 13th of January and the AGM was on the 27th? On the 8-9th of February a few members went to the classic bike show at Shepton Mallet. The 10th of Feb: was a Monday a club night when Mark from MSC motorcycles came to the club and gave us a talk on MOT’s. 14-15-16th of Feb: was the MCN motorcycle show in London. The 13th of Feb: saw 12 members at the Cornwood village hall for a first aid course. The 24th of Feb was a club night and GT’s brought some bikes along for us to look at, do you remember what was so memorable about that night as well? it was the clubs last night at City Bus Social club. (now the old grey matter is working eh!!) March the 3rd was the first club meet at the new club house, Ocean BMW brought some bikes along for the members to look at on the 17th. The first ride of the season was to be on the 24th, can you remember what the weather was like? well, it was terrible and the ride was cancelled. It was better weather on the 31st the short ride (club night) went ahead with 19 bikes turning up. 20th of April was a bank holiday and the British Heart Foundation ride, the first charity ride of the year. 24th was the first Plymouth Bike night of 2014. The Morley Arms was the venue for the MAG bike show on the 26th. May the 2nd 3-4th was the BMAD Paignton bike festival. 10-11th was the Pirate weekend on the Barbican, also the Dean Court vintage rally at Buckfastleigh. Friday the 30th 31st was the first two days of the Koss rally in Brittany. June the 1st was the last day of the Koss rally with members returning on Monday the 2nd. Wednesday the 4th was the first Paignton bike night of 2014. (How you doing so far? ok) then you will remember that on the 9th Chris Davey, Paul Anderson and Patch Jobson from Amey came to the club to give us a talk on the road repairs in and around Plymouth. 20th was the dream night at the zoo (Sparkwell wildlife park) where 12 bikes and riders turned up for disadvantaged children. Saturday the 21st was the longest day and so the sunrise run. Saturday 28th was armed forces day on the Hoe plus the Megaride photo shoot. Can you remember the next event? no!! well it was Mark Cooper’s (MSC motorcycles) Air Ambulance ride. July was memorable because there was no Plymouth Bikenights because of MTV crashes. What do you think shall we carry on jogging your memory? ok then, next page.
DO YOU REMEMBER PART 2 July 12th was Triumph live at the Gaydon Heritage Centre a few of the Triumph fans from the club made a weekend away for this one. 17-18-19-20th saw a few of the members going to the Faro rally on the Algarve, also on the 19-20 was the Crediton bike show at the Rose and Crown. The next event on the 27th was the Modified Mania at Smeatharpe, and the Jurassic coast bikers day out. 31st was the start of the Calstock bike show. August 1st 2nd 3rd 4th was the continuation of the Calstock bike show. On the 7th the Plymouth bike nights started again. 12-13th was the British fireworks championships on the Hoe. Sunday the 17th you will surely remember because it was the “Megaride” On to September ( you remembering things now?) Thursday 4th was the last Plymouth Bike night of 2014. The 7th was a Sunday and the day of the Cornish Triangle run which ended in Bude with a cream tea. Monday the 29th was a club night and so a short ride and the last one of the season. Its October already and you should be remembering things more easily now!! On the 5th was the Hartland quay hill climb and also the first of the four Sunday runs, the other three being on the 12-19-26th. The next event was the cheque presentation at the club and that was on the 27th. November now, Tuesday 4th club members leave for Spain and visiting the Valencia moto GP whilst there. Thursday 13th club members back from Spain. 24th was Traders night at the club. December sees the Christmas party on the 6th and the end of year rideout on the 28th, bringing all the adventures of the club members to an end for 2014. This year 2014 has been an eventful one for the club and its members. We didn’t have a very good start to the year as far as the weather was concerned but later on we had some brilliant weather and we were able to keep riding to the end. Lets see what next year has in store.
This has not and was not meant to be a comprehensive run down of events over the year but, lets hope it has jogged your memory a bit and reminded you of things that had slipped your mind, if these couple of pages have done that then it has achieved what it was meant to do.

THE FORGOTTEN FEW
OVER THE YEAR A LOT OF PEOPLE DO A LOT OF THINGS FOR THE CLUB, INCLUDING “PLYMOUTH BIKENIGHTS” AND OF COURSE THE “MEGARIDE” BUT THESE EVENTS HAVE TO BE ORGANISED. THE ORGANISERS OF THESE EVENTS ARE ALWAYS READY TO THANK PEOPLE FOR WHAT THEY DO TO HELP OUT WITH THEM. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ORGANISERS THEMSELVES, A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WORK GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES, MOST OF THE YEAR AND SPARE TIME IS TAKEN UP ORGANISING THESE EVENTS AND A LOT OF THE TIME ALL THEY GET IN RETURN IS “GRIEF” SO, THE COMMITTEE AND I’M SURE EVERY MEMBER OF THE CLUB WOULD LIKE TO JOIN IN SENDING A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO, RITCHARD AND SUE BOUNDS AND PETER BATTEN FOR THE TIME AND EFFORT THEY PUT IN.
THANKS Thanks must go to a lot of people who work behind the scenes to keep the club running. I won’t bother to even attempt to name them because I am bound to miss one or two out and that wouldn't be fair, they will know who they are and so will the club members. There are the rideout marshals, the ride leader and the tail end charlie, the safety officer and the ride out co-ordinator. Some of these give their time in the week to ride the routes to make sure it is safe for road works or any other things we might encounter en-route. Then there are the club members who volunteer to lead rides and step in as marshals when needed. There are the people who cook the food and set the Buffet out when we have a “do” and the ones who clear up afterwards. Then there are the people who do the raffle, and of course some one has to supply the prizes for the raffle. All the members and some non members who help marshal the bike nights and the Megaride. Plus all the charity rides the club is involved with, all these have to be marshalled and money collected. Then there are the people who take the time to write a couple of pages on trips or journeys they have done so the rest of us can share their experiences, and at times envy at what they have done. Without all these people the club would not function and so would not survive. If any one has been missed out, apologies, it is not intentional, without these people there would be no Plymouth Motorcycle club. TO ALL THESE PEOPLE, THANK YOU

JEREMIAH’S JOURNEY
This card was sent to me by Pete for inclusion in the news letter if I had room for it. Well, how could there not be room in the news letter. Its not often we get things like this, the kids and the organisers of Jeremiah’s Journey have taken the time to put together this card to thank the Bike Nights for what has been done for them. A fantastic seasonal gesture. Thanks to Pete for sending it in. Hi Every Body. The last club night of 2014 was attended by 38 members. Mince pies and yummy cream was laid on as a treat to members for supporting the club this year. The next club night will be on the 5th of January with the AGM on the 19th, so there is still time to put your name down if you want to be on the committee. Have a good Christmas and stay safe. Ps Pete will load up the new calendar on 1.1.2015 whilst sat on a beach in Spain so keep an eye on the website. Ritchard
END OF YEAR RIDE
Sunday the weather was lovely for the end of the year ride to Paignton for the meal. Arriving at Lee Mill I was surprised to see how many bikes had turned up as the temperature was very low, but it was sunny. About 40 bikes had come to brave the cold. We left Lee Mill at 12.30 for a pleasant ride with many bikers I hadn’t seen before not that that mattered, every one was in good spirits. We arrived at the Hotel and parked outside even paying for the parking, a first for me. Someone said we would get our money back and sure enough as we were leaving I showed the ticket to the barman and without a word from ether of us, he paid me. A really nice day with nice company. I might do it again next year. PS the food was good. Roger Taylor
