END OF YEAR RIDEOUT to the INN on the GREEN PAIGNTON or alternative venue.—see note below. JANUARY 2009

Monday 5th January 2009

Annual General Meeting.

We have been informed that the Inn on the Green at Paignton has changed hands and no longer offers a Carvery type meal. A Carvery as well as other reasonably priced meals can be obtained at the Spinning Wheel Inn - which is situated on the Esplanade Road - nearer the theatre. The idea is to have us eating together, so the Spinning Wheel seems the better option. Whatever happens, the ride will still take place, it will then be left to the individuals to decide where they want to go. Santander-Portimao-WSB Run—Should have been Santander-Valencia Moto GP- then Valencia to Portimao, But for some medical reasons and the fact that Pat and myself had a brief and painful encounter with some very aggresive tarmac 2 Mondays before we were due to leave, we ended up only doing the latter, Santander to Portimao -With Pete Batten-Steve Allen and ourselves.Big thanks to Steve and all the specialized ally welding he carried out with haste on the TROPHY FOOT REST HANGERS FRONT AND BACK, as without this we would not have time to assemble all the bits required to go, TOP man Steve! We all set off from Santander on Wed 29th Oct; on the 3 Triumphs for our continental blast, Steve on the Rocket 3, me and Pat 93 Trophy 900 and Pete on his trusty 91 Daytona, Off the boat at Santander on Thursday, top up with fuel and away to first nights kip in Marida -300+ miles. Snow on the hills either side of us brrrrrrrr, cracking hotel first nite -then up at dawn for another 300+ miles taking in Seville- past Faro on the ip1 into Portimao track at the Algarve-international Motor Park, pick up tickets av a quick peek at the track etc; then off to find our hotel, The very plush Esterla-do-Vau, to our apartment only 190 Euro for 4 nights brilliant, and as much breakfast as you could eat -porky pigs! Done some touring around while we were there visited few local towns and villages watched the racing on the week end. Troy Baylis dominated as you all know .,Sadly had to depart on Tues; another 300+ miles taking in Jerez race track onto the rock of Gibraltar were Pete ripped his front tyre valve off his bike pulling out his security chain as the local police were a bit pissed off— we had parked our bikes on a war memorial so we could take lunch- good one Pete! Then big panic to get bike fixed 5-45 pm - everywhere shutting -Pete got the job done with Steve driving, Sweat over— depart Gibraltar and on to Marbella for sleep eating and good hot bath mmmm- Brilliant place to visit, well laid out fountains and shrub area's Up next day BREAKFAST for another 300+ miles to Hotel Castella in Torrijos near TOLEDO, for meal and all the 3 sss's and bed - absolutely knackered. Up next day crack of dawn quick breakfast ' DOES THIS ACTUALLY SOUND LIKE A HOLIDAY,! Ok I will finish it off, headed up toward Avilla passing Rodney's rock bless him, could have swore I saw him rolling a tickler 'noooo concentrate must be all the miles we been doing! Stopped in Avilla for coffee and some photo's—very fortified town check out our Photo Album on the web site, then on to FERRY and home. Found out when I got home I’d done it all with a busted rib not bad for an old fart heh, bye for now! Roy Pike,

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Welcome to the final Newsletter of 2008. Your Committee would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. You should have received your A.G.M. information pack - if not don’t worry - it’s in the post. Please read through it carefully. It contains: the A.G.M agenda, Committee reports, a copy of the Rules and Constitution and a 2009 Membership Application form. Please bring the pack with you on the 5th January. Voting cards will be issued at the signing-in door on the night. Two vote counters will also be appointed. Anyone wishing to be considered for a Committee position must have been a paid up member for at least 12 months. Remember, the club is only as good as its’ membership and the active committee members elected by you - the members. We need to ensure that your club develops and grows according to the wishes of the majority of its members. If anybody has an item for the ‘Any other Business‘ section please could you bring it to either my or Paul Joce’s attention. This forthcoming year, let’s actively move forward doing what is important - ‘Riding our bikes at home or abroad and improving the public’s perception of motorcycling’.

Ride free, Ride safe. Ritch Bounds

Membership Cards In 2009 we have decided that the membership cards will be revamped so that an Emergency Contact Number can be printed on them. If you would like your contact ’s number on your card— please add your number to your membership renewal form. Thankyou.

Anyone recognise this member? - Yes—it’s Terry Beall! He and his wife Helen are still Club Members—probably the most distant from the Club as they live in New Zealand! They recently took a trip on the bike and sent me some pictures. Here is what he wrote: Hi Dennis. Back from my fantastic 2,548 mile round trip to the south Island. The weather was great, the company was good, the roads were not very good but the scenery was out of this world! Here some photos hope you like them. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and all the boys. See you in July. Terry the mop. N.Z. Nice to see he is wearing his Club shirt. Perhaps we can start up a competition of PMCC club members photographed wearing their shirts in different countries?
