TOP REASON: More money and a more creative workplace
FACT!
THAT’S NOT ME-llennials! JAYMAR PALLAGAO Gen Y ADMIN. ASSISTANT WHL
Millennials are addicted to technology. Millennials are the first generation to have grown up using computers and smart phones – and that’s a fact. We cannot deny that each one of us owns or uses two or more types of devices a day. We also can’t deny that we rather communicate electronically than speak face-to-face. The main reason? Progress. In this fast-paced evolution of technology, any generation at any age can easily embrace technology and include this on their daily routine. We can not stop that from happening.
One of the first things I think of in relation to millennials is that they have short attention span but this short attention span just might be the best thing about them. This means that they are able to work faster and on a number of different things at once, which can make them more productive and valuable. They’re more flexible, meaning you can throw something at them in the midst of other tasks and they will prioritize effectively. Their short attention span means they’ll outgrow you before you outgrow them, which is better than it sounds.

As a worker myself, I can say a lot of distinct characteristics of Millennials from my generation. And as HR, I can also say a number of potential challenges and conflicts these characteristics can bring into the organization if not managed or directed. But I can also say from both the worker and HR’s perspectives, that ACCEPTANCE IS KEY. Acceptance of the reality that Millennials are the majority of the workforce and they are the future leaders of organizations. Acceptance of the role for us Gen X leading Millennials. Acceptance that though leading them entails more time, more trust and more risks, it can achieve deeper relationships and more enriching partnerships. There are myths and truths about Millennials. I cannot complain. I can only accept that: it is interesting to know them; the challenge of working with them is exciting; and the reward of what two generations can do is something not to be missed.

Out of all the common misconceptions about millennials, their overflowing sense of entitlement is probably the most common statement we hear on a daily basis. It’s crazy how even some millennials are on the same page with this lore/myth. As for me, I’d like to think that millennials having a sense of entitlement is such a bad thing. The world we were in before we entered the world of adulthood was built on a huge support system saying that we are ready for what’s ahead of us as we give our best and not give up. This is why we can’t blame the “claiming it” attitude of millennials towards some rewards or prize after giving their best shot at something. These prizes or rewards don’t really have to be big; sometimes, we just long for some feedback whether or not we did a good job. I guess it’s time to take a look at this misconception at a whole new point of view and learn to share more and give more to make it a better place.
Regardless of what we label the Millennials, they are still the next generation of future leaders needing the wisdom and guidance from the previous generations. As we lead and work together with them, let me pass what Timothy said in his letter to the younger generation—Don’t let anyone look down on you or make fun of you, just because you are young. Set an example for other followers by what you say and do, as well as by your love, faith, and purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)
Millennials are thought to jump from one job to another. I, as a team lead want to help the company by retaining good people, lessening attrition. This will greatly help the company reach our organizational goals together. How? By constant communication and letting them feel that the company values them.

Myth: Millennials are lazy Fact: We’re competitive. We challenge the process not to undermine it but because we want to see improvements—positive growth. We work hard because we want to attain financial freedom at the earliest age possible. So no, we’re not lazy.

Work Life Balance: Millenials are one of the generation who knew the meaning of Gen x work-life balance. They aspire to have one and they really work on it. SENIOR manager For them, having a work-life balance is finance and mis what keeps them more energetic, more enthusiastic and more productive in the work place. They will work hard on weekdays and have fun on weekends. When they say FUN it doesn’t mean dancing in a disco with a loud music, but it means going out with family or friends in different places, eating their favourite food and documenting their travels through their social media accounts.
STEPHEN UGAY
I guess I have had the privilege to work with the best bosses in their respective fields. The key takeaway here I have observed is that Millennials are interested in pursuing jobs that positively add to their lives. They want to grow and learn in their positions. They want opportunities and will pursue them, if necessary. Our role as managers is to offer opportunities for growth, change, and advancement within the organization and we are well on our way to an office full of engaged, proactive Millennial employees.

In my almost 10 years of retail experience, I found out that millennials want to have a flexible schedule from their company and a straight feedback from their leaders.
Myth: Millennials doesn’t know how to save money. They tend to splurge with various things. Fact: Millennials believe that it is better to collect moments rather than material belongings. Millennials are fond of travelling and exploring because they want to have so much experience that can be considered as “once in a lifetime”. They are also known to be as adventurous.

EMPLOYEE COMMENDATION My daughter would like to join your Summer Workshop. She was able to attend the complimentary training today at Power Mac Center Greenbelt with Danica Cortez as her trainer. She learned a lot from her. Kindly extend my gratitude to Trainer Danica for helping her. Appreciate it so much. - PBSI Summer Workshop Client I would like to thank Engineer Guian Del Rosario, AASP Megamall who diagnosed my unit, CSO Carlo Paragele for assessing and explaining everything on my first visit and CSO Marian Acebedo for finally accepting my defective unit and releasing my replaced unit. The service was GREAT and I didn't expect to have my unit replacement within 4 days. All in all, service was GREAT from the front to back end. I am very happy and satisfied with the service Power Mac Center Megamall has provided me. I recommend this service center to my colleagues and friends. - AASP Megamall Client
