elcome to the eighth edition of My Princess, the official magazine for Princess Motor Yacht Sales and her dealer partners from around Europe and the Mediterranean.

2015 marks an important year for Princess Yachts International, who celebrate their 50th Anniversary - five decades leading the industry, throughout which Princess Motor Yacht Sales has been a long term partner. The year promises some exciting developments, which we are looking forward to revealing shortly. With two models just launched for 2015, some stunning photography, and a brand new brochure, we also thought a snapshot of the full M Class range was in order. Alongside, a unique insight into the creative world of Sarah Verey and her team - those responsible for the renowned Princess interior design. We are continually looking for ways to improve our service to our customers, so you won’t be surprised to find that we have invested in a brand new service centre in Plymouth. We are extremely proud of the exceptional service we are already able to deliver to our customers, so the site at Turnchapel when it opens in May, will become the centre of our operations. It’s a huge investment for us as you’ll see from the article and, as the building takes shape in the coming months, we know our owners will see a major benefit. We hope you enjoy our Spring issue, and look forward to seeing you in the coming months. Yours sincerely, Colin Capewell Managing Director, Princess Motor Yacht Sales

PRINCESS M CLASS “WHAT MAKES A PRINCESS M CLASS SPECIAL IS AN AURA OF TOTAL CONFIDENCE. A YACHT WITH AN IMPRESSIVE PRESENCE, POWERFUL PERFORMANCE AND CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE, DESIGNED AND BUILT TO YOUR PERSONAL TASTE AND REQUIREMENTS.” The Princess M Class series places the Princess brand squarely in the market for yachts over 100 feet. Drawing on every second of Princess’ 50 years of boat building excellence, the 40M, 35M and now 30M yachts deliver in terms of design and performance, combining award winning advanced technology with a timeless sense of style that’s unmistakeably Princess.

Princess 40M

THE BRAND NEW 30M

S

he was unveiled in September just last year, the latest M Class yacht, the Princess 30M. This 100 ft raised pilot house yacht marks the entry point to the M Class fleet with unparalleled levels of design and luxury. Like her sisters, she is incredibly spacious. She features bold contemporary lines, offering up to four double en suite cabins on the lower deck and the master suite on the main deck. Every cabin is beautifully appointed, with a choice of interior design and finish. On the main deck, the saloon can be configured with various seating and dining options, plus the option to incorporate a wide sliding door opening out onto a smart balcony on the starboard side. On deck, she’s perfect for outdoor living – her spacious flybridge includes full wet bar, flexible modular seating and hardtop with integrated sunroof, and there’s even space for an

optional spa bath. Twin transom gates lead to the hydraulic bathing platform and stern garage which can accommodate a 4.5m tender - perfect for a day of water sports. The new 30M joins the range for 2015.

THE MODERN CLASSIC 35M The 35M is a breakthrough design for a yacht of this size, with an unmatched combination of features and performance. She was designed and launched following the success of the tri-deck 40M. Like her sister, the 35M has a very generous interior, with an open, light and airy feel throughout. Her spacious main deck saloon has full height windows with the option of port and starboard balconies. The opulent master suite can be found on the main deck and occupies the full beam of the yacht with panoramic windows.

7

Princess 30M

Princess 35M

A standard three guest cabin arrangement is found on the lower deck, although with an option for a four cabin layout bringing the total number of cabins to an impressive five. With her raised pilot house, sleek lines and advanced engineering, the 35M is the perfect balance of performance, space and elegant style. Her flybridge is vast. With barbecue area, bar, and dining for up to 10 guests, she’s designed to let both owner and guests maximise their use of the deck areas. With further options available such as a spa bath and hard top, the flybridge of the 35M is simply stunning.

THE AWARD WINNING 40M Winner of the Boat International World Superyacht Awards, and the definition of M Class style, the 40M’s smooth lines conceal her spacious interior. Her standard layout includes an opulent sky lounge, full-beam main deck master suite with a

private owner’s office and a further four or five en suite guest cabins. There is also space for seven crew to live comfortably and in complete privacy.

10TH ANNUAL

WORLD SUPER YACHT AWARDS 2015 The 40M Solaris has been nominated as a finalist in the 10th Annual World Super Yacht Awards 2015, to be announced on the 9th May 2015. She joins the prestigious list of finalists within the Semidisplacement or Planing Three Deck Motor Yachts.

‘A WORLD FIRST’ LONDON YACHT, JET AND PRESTIGE CAR SHOW It was heralded as ‘a world first for a London event’ with many of the world’s largest superyacht and luxury yacht builders, brokers and charter agents, (including Princess of course) taking part, not mention those from the world of prestige cars, aviation, arts and antiquities, who were featuring some of their finest exhibits.

PRINCESS 88 MOTOR YACHT The Princess 88 was inspired by the ‘M’ class range. From the optional spa bath on the flybridge, to the folding balcony just off the saloon, to the five opulent en-suite cabins below decks, there really is no better place to relax and enjoy life on-board.

The show took place across two separate locations – at the Old Billingsgate market, and just five minutes away at St Katharine Docks, where an impressive selection of yachts were moored.

PRINCESS V72 The V72, by contrast, is an exceptional sports yacht delivering the perfect balance of high speed thrills and sophisticated elegance. With her modified deep-V hull, she delivers superb levels of performance and handling while her sleek profile hides an incredibly spacious and beautifully detailed interior.

Princess was show-casing the Princess V72, the Princess 88 and the Princess 98 Motor Yachts. Arguably the largest in the Marina, standing proud at the far end of the red carpet, the three Princesses were surrounded by a buzz of excitement. PRINCESS 98 MOTOR YACHT Our first featured yacht, and the largest in the Motor Yacht range, the Princess 98 could not fail to impress. With superbly appointed accommodation for up to 10 guests, a top speed close to thirty knots, plus the added benefit of no less than three separate crew cabins, few motor yachts combine size, performance and sophistication as well.

With visitor numbers exceeding all expectations, the inaugural show has undoubtedly set the tone for the future and we are sure will now go from strength to strength. The Princess 98 is now set to remain in St Katharine Docks into the month of May. If you would like to arrange a private viewing, please contact us at sales@princess.co.uk, or call 01489 557755.

PRINCESS

68

BY NICK BURNHAM

Half a century ago Sean Connery was 007, ‘Thunderball’ was on the big screen and Princess International (or Marine Projects, as it was then known), came into being. Fast forward nine years to 1974 and the improbably named Roger Moore had taken the 007 mantle, tracking down Scaramanga in ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’, as Princess launched their first planing flybridge boat, the flagship 37. Add another forty one years and your Delorean time machine will land you at present day. Daniel Craig is Britain’s least secret agent and Princess have just distilled those forty years of planing flybridge know-how into this, the 68. Which neatly explains why it is something rather special.

From the outside this is classic Princess. Throw a thesaurus at it and words like ‘refined’, ‘subtle’ and ‘evolutionary’ will stick to it rather than ‘avante-garde’, ‘radical’ or ‘extreme’. It’s the Princess way and it means that owners of last year’s model will see their craft age gently rather than fly out of date – good news for residuals. Although in the case of the 68 there is no last year’s model, it neatly fits a hole in the range between the 64 and 72 last occupied by the 67 which launched a decade ago and ceased production in 2009. All the latest Princess ‘must-haves’ are present, from the massive glazing of the deck saloon to the huge one piece hull windows (over a metre and a half squared in the case of the master cabin), as well as a few of the ‘always-hads’ – the classic goal post radar arch and the twin horns on the front face of the flybridge that have graced every flybridge model since that first 37. But the 68 brings with it a couple of brand new features, and the most obvious of these is just ahead of the windscreens, where a walk-through scythes from side deck to side deck splitting a comfortable forward facing three section settee from the cabin top sunpad forward. Very much a ‘yacht’ feature, we’ve seen this before on larger Princess yachts, however this is the first time it has appeared below seventy feet. Inside, the fundamental benefit over the 67 are three guest cabins plus a massive full beam master rather than two. But look closer, because there are other big changes. The first is obvious the moment you step through the solid stainless steel trimmed triple section tinted glass saloon doors and find yourself between the galley to port and the dinette to starboard. Princess first put a galley-aft layout into its 52 three years ago and it was an instant hit. Utilising the 68’s bigger size to incorporate the dinette is the next logical step and makes this the ultimate kitchen-diner with fabulous views out through the saloon doors. An electric retracting window turns the aft counter top into a serving bar. The advantages are obvious, putting it adjacent to, and on the same level as, both the saloon and the cockpit – the two areas (other than the dinette) that you’re most likely to be catering for. Plus, we all know that the best parties inevitably end up in the kitchen, where better to have it then than in the centre of the entertaining areas? You need to walk up the single shallow step forward into the saloon and past the two deep expansive comfortable settees to spot the other Big New Thing. To port is the separate private access to the owner’s suite. This marks a real step-change for Princess; until now even owners of a Princess 98 had to follow the proletariat forward at bedtime and share the same accommodation lobby. Imagine! Joking aside, don’t under-estimate

features like this, they add an indefinable yet irrefutable specialness to the ownership experience. But the over-riding sensation is one of light and space. It is said every time Princess launch a new boat but it simply feels like it’s from the next class up. Princess claims it has the highest internal volume to length ratio of any boat it has ever built. It’s not a hard claim to believe...

Up top, the flybridge echoes latest Princess thinking by putting a forward facing L shaped seat next to the double helm, a solution so much more useful under way than the previous tactic of running the seat along the coaming and round to the helm console so crew ended up facing aft. An infill section converts it to a sunpad, putting sun worshippers next to the helm where the skipper can keep a watchful eye and converse. Further aft a large dining area creates the perfect alfresco solution and, just like the 67, a crane can be fitted to allow a jetski or RIB to complement whatever lives on the high/low bathing platform or simply to keep it clear, allowing people to enjoy the aft facing seat built in to the transom. But just when you think it’s all about style and space, the 68 plays its trump card – performance. With the largest engine option – V12 MAN diesels at 1,400hp apiece - the performance is borderline shocking. We saw 35 knots flat out on test, 30 knots an easy canter. But it’s not what it does, deeply impressive though that is, it’s how it does it. At cruise my sound meter barely registers 70db, one of the lowest readings I’ve recorded of any large planing boat. Only the occasional ‘whump’ of the hull slicing incisively through the challenging swell breaks the almost library hush, leaving the crew neither shaken nor stirred. Throw it into a hard turn and yet again this elegant motor yacht confounds expectations, responding with lithe handling of a sportsboat. It’s this phenomenal on-water performance that really cements the essence of Princess in the new 68. Because for all the easy living glamour and acres of space on offer, this is first and foremost a serious offshore passage maker with an unbeatable royal flush of attributes.

Princess V48 Open

The brand new Princess S72, launched in 2014, was awarded the coveted prize in the over 55ft category. The S72 is the first of the new S Class Sportbridge yachts, combining the sleek lines of a sports yacht with the practicality of her extensive living space and flybridge. In less than a year, she has already received much acclaim – this award evidence of her outstanding class amongst rival yachts in this category. In the Sportscruiser over 45ft category, make way for the Princess V48 Open. With her open top, spacious outdoor seating area, and extensive sunbathing platform, she’s the perfect vessel for the outdoor lifestyle and we think, a worthy winner. The V48 Open was launched at the Cannes Boat Show in 2013, and was nominated for European Power Boat of the Year 2014. This time she has truly landed the prize and, as one of our best-selling yachts, we’re not at all surprised. The award ceremony was held at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone, and attended by guests from across the industry, including of course, the team from Princess, who were thrilled to accept not just one, but two, major awards!

Princess Yachts Internatiomal turns 50 in 2015

Project 31, Built Summer 1965 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Princess Yachts International as one of the world’s leading motor yacht manufacturers. Founded in 1965 as Marine Projects (Plymouth), David King and two friends started the business with a Senior 31 hull and deck moulding to fit out in their rented shed based at Newport Street, Plymouth. Project 31 (pictured) sold for £3,400 and marked the beginning of a successful Plymouth shipyard. Over the years, Princess Yachts has produced some world-beating craft from the company’s first sports boat; the 286 Riviera which firmly cemented Marine Projects’ place in the high speed sports cruiser market, to the Princess 65 which became the company’s flagship in 1990.

On 1st August 2001 Marine Projects became Princess Yachts International plc now occupying sites in Devonport, Plympton and Lee Mill. In 2008 the company was purchased by L Capital and the following year South Yard, a 15 acre waterside site (formally part of the Royal Naval Dockyard) was acquired with plans put in place to take the brand over the 100 foot mark. Now with over 2,400 employees across six sites, Princess Yachts International is one of the biggest employers in the South West. Along with a complex distributor network covering more than 65 countries around the world and a product range consisting of 23 models, Princess has become a leading motor yacht manufacturer at the forefront of the industry.

2015 is set to be a memorable year for Princess. Look out for our launch and events programme, coming soon…

SARAH VEREY PRINCESS DESIGN STUDIO ‘My philosophy, always, is to create something the equal of anything you’re likely to find on Bond Street in London’ Sarah Verey tells me. That’s a serious remit but Sarah takes her position as Director of Creative Design very seriously. At Princess Yachts International, pretty much every finish on board ship, from the gentle satin or gloss timber of the cabinetry and the exquisite tiles on the bathroom floor right down to the door handles and the throws on the bed have to pass the Sarah Verey taste test. With inspiration from across the design world, from boutique hotels to design shows, and contacts throughout the fashion houses of London and the continent, Sarah and her team’s input starts right at the planning stage of a new model. Her brief is to ensure that every Princess motor yacht not only exudes the quiet class and exemplary style for which the marque is world renowned, but is fine-tuned to reflect the concept of each craft. A high performance sports yacht such as the V72 will warrant a subtly different accent compared with the studied majesty of a 40M yacht for example. And of course just looking fantastic is not enough. The materials that make up a yacht have to do far more. Upholstery might have to shrug off everything from sun cream to wet swimming costumes. Cabinet doors need to be easy to open when required, yet stay firmly shut when not. What appears to be free-standing lighting needs not only to be fixed, but permanently wired to the ships electrics. Surface finishes have to be able to withstand the harsh heat of some of the warmest locations on the planet. And all this is just the beginning, that attention to detail doesn’t end once a new boat is signed off for production. The Princess Design Studio includes a team of design consultants based at Princess’ Mayfair office. All customers purchasing yachts of eighty eight feet and above are assigned their own design consultant, and it’s that person’s job not just to understand and then realise the customer’s dream, but to suggest and inspire in order to

create a craft that is a perfect fit for that particular owner’s taste and lifestyle. And the blank canvas upon which to design that dream is both expansive and expanding. With links to top design houses like Hermes and Fendi, a design consultant can help with choices of everything from the fish knives to the furniture. Sarah points to a recent example where a customer wanted a specific grade of high quality leather for the yacht’s furniture. In response, Princess built furniture carcasses which were dispatched to Alma, a long established leading leather specialist in London. There the very finest leather and suede were lovingly fitted and beautifully stitched for a truly bespoke finish. Another yacht was fitted out in conjunction with Fendi Casa, who was deeply involved in the conception and build of the craft in order to ensure that the bespoke furniture created for the client was a perfect fit. And it’s not just what the client sees and touches. Wifi systems, integrated AV equipment, navigation suites and much more are all tailored to owner requirements. But don’t for one moment think that such attention to detail is purely the preserve of the Princess superyacht buyer. Precisely the same attention to detail is applied across the entire range. There may be less ultimate choice of layout with a smaller boat and hence less requirement for a design consultant to guide the purchasing process, but the quality, craftsmanship and design integrity remain, created by the exact same team responsible for the ‘M Class’ yachts. As indeed do the choices, with a myriad of options for woodwork, fabrics, work tops and flooring, allowing a buyer to stamp his or her individualism and create a look as personal as their signature, whatever the model. Indeed, lessons learned in the more compact environs of smaller craft often percolate up through the range as much as the style and quality of the larger yachts filters down, ensuring a cohesive design language right across the Princess family.

NORWAY

CONSIDERED BY MANY AS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COUNTRIES ON THE PLANET

N

orthern Europe is renowned for its majestic cities and dramatically carved landscapes. The sun may not be as endless as you will experience in the mediterranean, however, what you will find is fairytale towns and villages, majestic fjords and a cosmopolitan range of cultural diversity.

DAY 3 GIERANGERFJORD TO TRONDHEIM Gierangerfjord is at the heart of the Norwegian fjords. With its characteristic S shape, high waterfalls and abandoned mountain farms, here you’ll find a truly cultural experience.

Considered by many as one of the most beautiful countries on the planet, Norway is full of natural splendour and beauty. It has a large number of breath-taking national parks which are testament to the fact that Norwegians, as do most Scandinavians, have an immense love for the great outdoors and the celebration of all things natural.

DAY 4 TRONDHEIM TO BODO Trondheim is the oldest of Norway’s major cities. Its heritage is still evident throughout the city. While you’re here, visit Nidelva - the sunsets are truly awe-inspiring especially in the summer months. The city is so far north that the first hints of the arctic sky are visible.

Norway is home to vast stretches of serene and incredibly picturesque landscapes where you can often travel for hours without seeing a single soul. Everything in Norway is on a grand scale, varying from the infamous fjords right up to the snow covered mountainous peaks which stretch for mile upon mile. Exploration of Norway’s rugged scenery is particularly satisfying by boat. As you travel along the unforgiving coastline you witness spectacular mountain ranges, rippling glaciers and a network of deep forests. Norway is a prime example of nature at its best.

BERGEN TO HAMMERFEST - 7 DAYS DAY 1 BERGEN TO ALESUND Start your cruise in Bergen. The city with history and tradition, it’s enclosed by one of the world’s most spectacular tourist attractions - The Norwegian Fjords, which have now been included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. DAY 2 ALESUND TO GEIRANGERFJORD Once you arrive in Alesund you will be struck by a view that’s straight from fairy tales. Look up as you explore the town, and discover an abundance of imaginative ornamentation on the buildings. Ascend the 418 steps to the top of Mount Aksla and take in the stunning panoramic views!

DAY 5 BODO TO SVOLVAER From the glittering midnight sun to the magic of the Northern Lights at night. From taking a sea safari along the most beautiful coastline in the world, to ski Eldorado on the Swedish border. From busy urban centre, to the peace and quiet of the rural countryside. DAY 6 SVOLVAER TO TROMSO Svolvaer is the capital of the Lofoten Islands off the coast of Northern Norway. The islands feature steep mountains surrounded by crystal clear waters. A quiet fishing town. If you enjoy fish for your dinner ask your crew to grab some fresh from this famous fishing village and prepare a delicious meal for you and your guests. DAY 7 TROMSO TO HAMMERFEST “The capital of the Arctic” Tromso is a lively yet beautiful city. Surrounded by awe-inspiring mountains, deep fjords and beautiful islands, it’s filled with history and culture – an unmissable finale to the tour.

A PRINCESS FOR ISLAND LIFE

MALCOLM LEWIS, OWNER OF JERSEY’S LEADING FIVE STAR HOTEL, LONGUEVILLE MANOR, TALKS TO US ABOUT LIVING IN THE CHANNEL ISLANDS, BOATING WITH THE FAMILY AND THE GEMS OF THE BRITTANY COAST. Being the owner of Jersey’s leading five-star hotel involves a frenetic schedule, unpredictable hours and a heavy dose of responsibility. However, Malcolm Lewis has identified the perfect way to escape the furor and relax with the family by taking to the ocean on his Princess 42 Flybridge. www.longuevillemanor.com www.jerseyboatshow.com

M

alcolm purchased his Princess in 2014. He knew the model had a worthy heritage having been well documented as one of the longest production run models ever built. He explains that he did not hesitate on the brand: “Princess is a brand of distinction. I feel it stands apart from the rest giving an impression of understated sophistication. Ultimately, I wanted something that was reliable, elegant and functional. Princess has a legacy of providing boats of longevity with a proven hull structure and a fine build and that ticks all the right boxes for me.” This particular model struck a note with Malcolm who wanted a vessel that would be ideal for quixotic trips with his wife Patricia and just as suited to exploratory family days out with their young children. Malcolm says: “The clever design and functionality creates a spacious environment that is perfect for a family. It also transports us from

the Princess will remain true to its primary function as a family vessel. Malcolm says: “My main objective is simply lots of fun and family time! Our children are Skipper also starting to benefit from the sense of responsibility that can be gained from learning about a boat and how to crew and that is fundamentally important to me.” Many family trips are already in the planning for this season and their favourite local destination ‘Herm’ is high on the agenda. Herm is one of the smaller islands in the Channel archipelago just off the Normandy Coast. Malcolm enthusiastically describes: “A trip to

We are hugely excited to be launching the boat for charter. It’s strictly for hotel guests at Longueville and we believe it sits perfectly within our luxury proposition.

place to place safely and quickly.” He enthuses: “I love the ‘Tardis’ feel – by that I don’t mean to channel Dr Who, I just mean that it has an interior that feels much larger than its exterior – it’s a great boat for that.” Time on the ocean is where the Lewis family let their hair down. The tang of the sea air, the exhilaration of speed and the relaxation of drifting sunwards is what it’s all about. They’ve now chosen to share this experience with their hotel guests as they launch their Princess for private charter for the first time. “We are hugely excited to be launching the boat for charter,” says Malcolm. “It’s strictly for our hotel guests at Longueville and we believe it sits perfectly within our luxury proposition. I can’t wait to share unique experiences with our guests such as dolphin spotting at the Minquiers, picnics on Sark, or snorkeling on one of Jersey’s beautiful offshore reefs. We hope to create some wonderful memories.” When Longueville guests aren’t indulging in the boat’s maritime luxury

Shell Beach on Herm is our favourite day out. Herm is one of the smallest of the Channel Islands at only 1.5 miles long by half a mile wide. There are no cars, just bountiful natural beauty, so it’s a real escape back to simpler times and a place we like to enjoy with the kids where we can reconnect and have fun without distractions.” When Malcolm and Patricia take a trip ‘a deux’ they like to head a little further afield and their base in Jersey offers countless opportunities. They adore the dramatic cape that sticks out from the Côte d’Emeraude in Northern Brittany called Saint-Cast. “It’s fantastic for yachts as it has a new deep-water marina and it’s a really beautiful part of the Brittany coastline,” says Malcolm. “The beach offers the perfect seaside experience, with golden sands contained and protected by bays and cliffs. The resort is charmingly authentic, a real taste of Brittany along with a well preserved sense of history and culture, yet the amenities are sophisticated and extensive. When we visit, Patricia and I like to take a

leisurely walk into the town, which has great restaurants and shopping, and enjoy the relaxed but quintessentially French ambience.” They also encourage the yachting community to visit them in Jersey; an Island that attracts boats the world over thanks to its charm and natural beauty. Malcolm is obviously a wonderful advocate for his home island and describes it with great fondness: “There is so much for visiting boating people to do on Jersey when they arrive. An Island coastal tour is a must – you can do this by boat, by foot or by canoe if you’re feeling adventurous. Water pursuits are prominent in Jersey too, so it’s a great place for surfing, kite surfing, coasteering and scuba diving. We are also totally spoilt when it comes to amazing restaurants of all types and the shopping attracts quite a crowd too!” The Lewis family will be showcasing their boat for charter at this year’s Barclays Jersey Boat Show from Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th May. Now in its eighth year, the event is billed as the largest free-entry event in the Channel Islands and in 2014 recorded its highest-ever attendance figures with in excess of 40,000 visitors over the three days. Malcolm concludes: “The Jersey Boat Show is a major event that brings everyone together and we intend to be at the heart of that this year as we launch our boat for private charter to our hotel residents. We’re going to put on some show stopping hospitality in partnership with Princess in Jersey and make it a fantastic event for our guests, we hope you’ll all join us!” For Princess yacht sales in the Channel Islands, or to find out more, contact nick@quay-boats.co.uk or call +44 (0)1534 491506

PORT ADRIANO OPENING TWO YEARS ON O

n the 4th May 2013, more than 200 guests assembled to celebrate a landmark occasion - the opening of a brand new office for Princess Motor Yacht Sales in Port Adriano. The opening of the office recognised the need to service the increasing demands of motor yacht enthusiasts in Mallorca; particularly those of German nationals who flock to the area, attracted by its dramatic coastline, warm climate, and easy transport links - just a couple of hours flight from Germany. Port Adriano itself is one of the most modern and best equipped marinas on the Mediterranean. Since the marina was created in 2007, it has become a go-to destination for yacht owners. It’s surrounded by areas of great natural beauty for sailing and other watersports, and it is also a centre for wide array of cultural and leisure activities which make it the perfect location for yacht owners who can play golf, enjoy watersports, shop in Adriano’s many designer boutiques or experience its many cultural festivals during the summer months. Now, almost two years on, Adriano successfully sells more than eight boats a year, both new and used; a number which continues to increase. The office is particularly well placed to serve the German market. It employs German speaking staff, and has had a huge presence at the Dusseldorf Boat Show over the last two years. There is a fantastic atmosphere in the Port from May to September. Thanks to its increasing popularity, the marina is now full during high season, so long term berths are becoming harder to come by.

For customers who would like to make their base in Adriano, you can contact the Adriano office directly on +34 971 679 437 or email info@princessmysales.com

VOLVO MATCH PLAY SPONSORSHIP The stunning Princess V39 sports yacht made a spectacular marine statement at the 2014 Volvo Match Play Championship Lying across a lake that makes up a tricky 8th hole, par 3 at the London GC, the V39 made a spectacular and fairly unique feature at this prestigious sporting event. Surrounded by some of the world’s best golfers, including members of the European and US Ryder Cup teams. Volvo usually showcases its automotive models at the event but wanted to tell a different story and reflect its status as a marine champion. As one of Volvo’s longest standing partners, Princess Yachts International was very happy to help showcase the very best of marine design and performance. And what better boat to do so than the V39, arguably the most celebrated yacht of its generation?

The Volvo Match Play Championship took place from the 15th to the 19th of October, with players competing for a total prize fund of €2.25m. Finland’s Mikko Ilonen finished in first place and took home a cheque for €650,000. First won by Arnold Palmer in 1964, the championship was traditionally held at Wentworth, in Surrey, until moving to Spain and then Bulgaria more recently. For its 50th year the decision was taken to return the tournament to its British roots. Princess Yachts International is celebrating its own 50th anniversary this year. Look out for more information and some exciting news as we commemorate our own half-century.

Perhaps the number one item on your option list to dramatically improve comfort and safety on board, is an active stabilization system. A good stabilization system allows for comfortable use of your boat when you otherwise would or at least should have stayed in port. Side-Power`s award winning Vector Fin™ stabilizers are the latest and most effective system on the market today. The revolutionary new design of the Vector Fin™ is taking fin stabilizers to a whole new level of efficiency and comfort, more effectively directing the forces to reduce roll, without other negative sideeffects such as yaw and sway as often associated with fin stabilizers on fast, lightweight boats. Unlike other technologies, the Vector Fins™ works just as well at any speed. Vector Fin™ benefits: • Unlike Gyros, efficiency increase with speed • Minimal to no increase in fuel consumption • Minimal to no loss of speed • Silent all night operation • Also suitable for retrofit

TURNCHAPEL P

rincess Motor Yacht Sales (PMYS) has always prided itself on providing yacht owners with years of trouble-free sailing through offering a comprehensive after-care service. From its heritage, long tradition and vast experience within the motoring industry, the company understands that this is often the best way to maintain a longstanding relationship with customers. In recent years, Princess Motor Yacht Sales has invested heavily to achieve this level of excellence and now has more than 40 service engineers employed directly throughout the business. The objective in the near future - to be able to offer service and maintenance to yacht owners six days per week, as well as launching a 24 hour hotline for technical advice. The next logical step in achieving this objective was investing in a brand new dedicated service centre, and so… Turnchapel was born.

Princess Motor Yacht Sales took over the building back in January this year. Interestingly, it originally belonged to the Royal Navy as the home of the 539 Assault Squadron, the Royal Marines’ amphibious landing section! The section has now moved its base, letting the team from PMYS move in. Converting the entire ground floor of the building into a state of the art service centre including meeting space, extensive workshop and showroom to display essential yachting extras such as ribs, dinghies and variety of other equipment, has translated into an investment of nearly half a million pounds. While most servicing will take place on site, there is also ample space in the service yard and a new pontoon for additional berthing, where more intensive maintenance work can be carried out. The investment has meant that Princess Motor Yacht Sales now has a dedicated hub from which all servicing and maintenance can be co-ordinated, resulting in an increasingly efficient service for yacht owners.

ALL NEW DEDICATED PRINCESS SERVICE CENTRE

Commenting on the Turnchapel development, Commercial Director Max Whale, explains; “We take servicing and yacht maintenance very seriously. Yachts are by their nature, highly sophisticated and they operate in all elements. To keep them running, they need expert technical knowledge and a comprehensive, all-encompassing regime. Turnchapel is part of our drive to keep improving our service operation, and ensure our customers receive the best service possible. We are extremely excited about the new development and we are looking forward to its opening in the coming months.” The building work is due for completion in May, just in time for the busy yachting season. Princess Motor Yacht Sales are now actively recruiting for new service engineers to become part of the operation. Applications are welcome by contacting Paul Bailey on paul.bailey@ princess.co.uk.

A COMPREHENSIVE SERVICE Turnchapel will become the hub of a variety of PMYS services now available to yacht owners, including: • Post-delivery inspection and commissioning service • Retrofit, customisation and upgrade • Dedicated sales manager to assist with understanding the latest retrofit products to market • Technical support to assist with operation, repairs and servicing • Charter coding and surveys • Sea School • Cleaning and valeting
