Mahra Polo, winners of The AHPRC Festive League
Four teams competed at the Sir Winston Churchill Cup 2021 with Hesketh/Mahra team against UAE Polo at the Subsidiary Final and Bin Drai Polo faced Habtoor Polo at the Final match. Bin Drai Polo team scored the first and only goal during the first chukka of the Final. Habtoor Polo displayed an excellent defensive play through the next chukka, thwarting its opponent’s efforts to further its lead. The excitement kicked up a notch as Justo Cuitino from Habtoor Polo tied the game in the last 30 seconds of the penultimate chukka. Without missing a beat, the Bin Drai Polo team scored a flurry of goals in the last chukka and drastically paved the road to its victory at 4 goals to 1. The last tournament of the year in the Club’s 2021 calendar, The AHPRC Festive League Final, featured Bin Drai vs Mahra and was closely fought throughout, with the scores tying throughout the match. However, the match took an unusual turn due to an injured Bin Drai player which led to the team deciding not to continue to play, therefore Mahra took the win with a 3-3 tie. Cristobal Sanchez Duggan was the Most Valuable Player and Olgasan was the Best Playing Pony. The day was filled with festivities including a galloping Santa Claus who alongside the little helpers gave gifts to the children watching the matches.
Four teams took part in the AHPRC January League at Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club. The Subsidiary Final was cancelled due to poor weather conditions, the Final was played between Ankora Polo and Planernaya Polo. Ankora Polo took the lead from the first chukka and maintained their momentum throughout ending the match 7-4½.
