Sentebale ISPIS Handa Polo Cup
T
he Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup takes place annually and serves as the single largest fundraising moment for the organisation to advance its mission on behalf of young people in need in Lesotho and Botswana. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year’s Polo Cup was postponed. However, under robust guidance from a leading epidemiologist and in coordination with the Pitkin County Public Health Department and local officials, a reduced version of the fundraiser took place in Aspen, Colorado on 20 August. The match, which was kept under wraps and not publicised for security reasons, featured three teams, Sentebale (with The Duke of Sussex in the line up – making his first public appearance since the birth of his daughter, Lilibet Diana in June), U.S. Polo Association and Royal Salute. The Sentebale team of The Duke of Sussex, Nacho Figueras and siblings Riley and Grant Ganzi, won the round robin event, 3-0, with The Duke of Sussex scoring two goals. The U.S. Polo Association team, led by 8-goaler Alejandro Novillo Astrada, was runner-up and Royal Salute, led by 10 goaler Gonzalito Pieres was third.
