WHO WORE IT BETTER? CHLOE Z MOR E T GRACE
Three’s a CROWD – Especially when it comes to donning the same outfit. Chloe Grace Moretz (M) first wore this off-the-shoulder Christopher Kane cocktail dress at last year’s Teen Choice Awards. Jennifer Hudson (L) was the latest to be seen in it at a salute party to music industry execs while earlier this spring Tanya Burr (R) graced the red carpet in the colourful ensemble at the Divergent European Premiere. All three ladies look beautiful but we’re giving this to Hudson – her short, spiky haircut contrasts beautifully with the outfit, giving the singer that cool, edgy look. BU R R TANYA

Former bachelorette makes FAB fast food from fresh food!
Former Bachelorette Jillian Harris is a designer, TV host, fresh food lover and the spokesperson for LG’s Home Appliances. This foodie loves cooking with tasty seasonal, fresh food options. Here she shares her tips on how to make fresh food a fast food:
MEAL PLANNING is the key to eat-
ing fresh. Take a look at the week ahead and think about what everyone feels like eating, look up some quick recipes, make your list and stock up on your fresh ingredients. After grocery shopping, set aside some time to do some basic food prep. Wash and chop fruits and veggies, marinate meats, do whatever you can ahead of time so meals come together in a snap. Don’t forget your fresh herbs which add a healthy dash of flavour.
IN-SEASON FRUITS AND VEGGIES pack more flavour, so make sure you’re choosing in season, local foods. Buy as much as you will use during the week so nothing spoils. This can be tricky, but when selecting recipes, try picking ones that share some common ingredients so you can use up your fruits and veggies while they’re still fresh.

Jillian points out that proper food storage can make a world of difference when making nutritious, flavourful meals.
“Where you keep your food is very important – especially when you’re cooking with fresh ingredients. We all know the standard storage procedures – potatoes in the cupboard, vegetables in the crisper, and so on. But did you know that the latest refrigeration technology makes it even easier? Imagine two refrigerators in one. The LG Door-in-Door keeps food fresher longer thanks to the Smart Cooling Plus System and its unique third-door design, giving you quick access to the foods you use most. This type of divided refrigerator is the most innovative idea yet. When your schedule changes as much as mine does, it can be a real life-saver.”
MAKE COOKING A FAMILY AFFAIR.
Nothing beats reconnecting with your family over the preparation of a meal. Throw on some music, grab a glass of wine and make dinner together. It’s a great opportunity to work together, chat and teach your kids critical cooking and nutrition basics. More tips and tricks can be found online at JillianHarris.com and LG.com.

A ctress OCTAVIA SPENCER is a lifelong fan of KEANU REEVES after he unexpectedly gave her a helping hand when
she was left stranded in her car just after arriving in Los Angeles. The Oscar winner moved from her native Alabama to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting, and when she was on her way to one of her first auditions, she was dealt an untimely blow when her car broke down on one of Los Angeles’ busiest streets. She recalled the incident to TV personality Meredith Vieira on her talk show, saying, “No one would help me because my car was so dirty - I had been parking my car underneath a tree so birds were just having a field day all over my car and I never washed. “It wasn’t until Keanu Reeves came by. He was on a motorcycle, wearing his motorcycle helmet and sunglasses and I didn’t recognise it was him when he pulled over. And he was like, ‘Hey, do you need some help?’” Spencer was planning on having the Matrix star get in the car while she pushed it to the side of the road, but he refused and pushed the car himself. She said, “I was so mortified. I was like, ‘Oh no, he’s gonna touch my car!’. And I was looking terrible, I had a shirt with holes (in it), I wasn’t wearing any underwear. “So to this day, I go to his movie every opening weekend, because that was a sweet thing to do. But I will never remind him of that moment because when I say I was looking foul, I don’t want that memory to come back (to him).” (TD/WNVMER/ZN) Visit popnews.ca for your daily entertainment highlights!

GIRLS star MELANIE BROWN insists she’ll never let former bandmate GERI HALLIWELL forget the fact she quit the band on her birthday. Scary Spice has forgiven the singer for walking out on the band in the middle of an international tour in 1998 - but she always finds a way of reminding her whenever they meet up. She tells newsman Larry King, “When Geri left the group, it was bad. She left on my birthday, and didn’t tell anybody... Just didn’t show up. We had the rest of the tour. The American part of the tour.” Mel B admits she felt bitter towards Ginger Spice for “a long time”, but now they’re friends again. (KL/WNV/TD)

You can’t expect to
love this! She hit the nail on the head! ETOnline.com reported, “Jennifer Garner, 42, is realistic about the romance in her marriage to Ben Affleck, 42. “You can’t expect to be courted all the time, and I don’t want to court him right now -- I don’t have the energy!” she says. “But we’re definitely in a very mindful place where we’re making an effort to be together, do things at the same time, and be loving.” The reason Jennifer’s words resonated with me is because I hear from women all of the time that as the relationship with a man progresses, the romance slows. It causes them to worry that maybe he’s losing interest. If the woman was hard-to-get at the outset of the relationship, chances are he’s still asking for dates or maybe even married her. As long as he still wants to see her and be with her, she should assume that he’s still interested. What Jennifer is saying is true about how you can’t expect that the courting will continue forever. Life happens -- especially when there are children involved. Keep in mind I’m not trying to cast women in the role of the insecure female. I don’t want to minimize a woman’s want for more romance. But don’t assume he isn’t interested because he’s not being romantic. Not every man will bring flowers and tell you how nice you look 50 times a day. That’s ok. Because what you want is the man who never wants to leave your side! Until next time... Shine like Platinum! Vanessa

ctor JOSEPH GORDONLEVITT has emerged as the frontrunner to portray whistleblower EDWARD SNOWDEN in a new OLIVER STONE movie. The Platoon filmmaker has offered The Dark Knight Rises star the lead role in The Snowden Files, according to Variety.com. The film will centre on the former technical contractor and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee, who was charged with committing espionage against America after confessing to leaking confidential information on mass surveillance operations undertaken by the U.S. and U.K. government officials on their own citizens. The Snowden Files, which is set to start shooting in Munich in December (14), will be based on Snowden’s Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena’s novel Time Of The Octopus. This isn’t the only Snowden film in development - James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is also working on a movie about the 30-year-old, based on journalist Glenn Greenwald’s book, No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the N.S.A. and the U.S. Surveillance State. ctress LENA DUNHAM has sworn off extreme dieting for good after one tea cleanse landed her in hospital. The self-confessed “chubby” Girls star reveals she wanted to lose some weight before her show became a hit in 2012, but her plan to shed the pounds didn’t work out too well. She tells People magazine, “We were shooting the Girls pilot, and I was like, ‘I’m going to Hollywood, what am I gonna do?’ So I forced myself to attempt to rejigger (sic) my body. I couldn’t even do it. I ended up hospitalised for drinking too much laxative tea and not taking care of myself.” Dunham, who is dating fun. rocker Jack Antonoff, has since embraced her larger figure and takes pride in proving to female fans they don’t need to be skinny to succeed in life. She says, “Recently I was around a lot of very thin women with a young girl, 16 or 17. She looked shaken up, and she said, ‘I thought I was pretty, but I guess I’m not’. I was like, ‘Look at me. I have a great job, I own an apartment, I go out with a guy in a rock band! Who woulda (sic) thought? And I’m totally chubby!’ It was the most fun I’ve ever had.” (MT/PE/KL)

UPGRADE YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE WITH SONIC TECHNOLOGY (NC) The latest trend in skincare technology makes it easier to achieve and maintain smooth, healthy-looking skin. Known as sonic skincare, the new handheld devices feature oscillating brush heads that cleanse the skin. Sonic technology is designed to gently remove dirt and impurities, and is more effective than washing with hands or a washcloth. “It’s like getting a spa facial treatment at home,” says Shoppers Drug Mart beauty expert Pierce Rees. “The new sonic brush from Life Brand is gentle enough to use everyday—simply wet your face, use a small amount of your favourite facial cleanser, and let the sonic oscillation do the work.” “This technology is not only great for regular facial cleansing, it also helps prevent clogged pores and blackheads from developing,” says Rees. Like the Life Brand brush, most devices come with interchangeable heads for various purposes, such as regular cleansing and exfoliating. Also trending in skincare are problemsolution products that fit in a purse or desk drawer, like oil-absorbing sheets, and lotions that contain nourishing ingredients like aloe, vitamin E or argan oil.

F YOU FIND DEAD OR FLAKY SKIN CELLS ON THE TISSUE THEN YOU MAY SUFFER FROM DRY SKIN. This skin usually feels stiff or tight after applying soap and needs to be well moisturized to combat dryness. Apply moisturizers immediately after showering and stay away from deodorized soaps. Now that it’s getting cooler out, invest in a humidifier - it increases moisture levels in your home and can do wonders to replenish the skin. IF THERE IS OIL ON THE TISSUE, YOU HAVE OILY SKIN. This skin type is caused by excess skin oil (sebum) and can trigger acne breakouts. Everything from genetics to stress to a change in hormone levels can stimulate oily skin. The solution? Avoid harsh soaps and use basic facial cleansers to cut down on the oiliness. Wash with warm water instead of hot to avoid irritation. To combat breakouts, try AHAs (glycolic acid) or BHAs (salicylic acid) – effective ingredients for treating acne. Check out: The Alpha Hydrox facial care line. Glycolic AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) are clinically proven to gently peel away dead surface skin cells, help remove fine lines, wrinkles & skin discolorations while softening skin. IF YOUR T-ZONE IS OILY AND YOUR CHEEKS ARE DRY AND FLAKY, YOU HAVE COMBINATION SKIN. Use a gentle exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells and mange excess oil. Finish with a light moisturizer. IF THERE IS NO OILY RESIDUE OR DEAD SKIN CELLS ON THE TISSUE, THEN YOU HAVE NORMAL SKIN. This skin type rarely suffers from breakouts and won’t feel tight or taught after washing. Keep skin looking fresh with a consistent cleanse routine every morning and protect your skin with sunscreen, even during colder months. If your skin is easily irritated by scented soaps and products, then you may have SENSITIVE SKIN. Avoid scented soaps and heavily scented creams. Protect your skin from the harsh elements with a light moisturizer that contains sunscreen. Check out: Aveeno Positively Ageless Youth Perfecting Moisturizer SPF 30.

FIVE TIPS TO MANAGE YOUR CASH FLOW
C C
ASH IS KING—it’s a common saying in the business world. But surprisingly few entrepreneurs take steps to manage their cash flow. “One of the main causes of business failure is poor cash flow management,” says Susan Rohac, Senior Vice President, Financing and Consulting, at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). The good news: cash flow management is easy to improve with a few simple steps. “Getting control over your cash flow helps you prepare for slow periods, plan your financing and have peace of mind,” Rohac says. Follow these five steps to get a better handle on your cash flow. 1. PROFITABILITY CHECK. First, make sure your business is earning a reasonable profit. Even the greatest cash flow management won’t help if your fundamentals are out of whack. 2. DO A CASH FLOW PROJECTION. Prepare the projection for the coming year. This is your early warning system for cash flow hiccups. Use accounting software to plug in expected monthly cash inflows and outflows.
3. FINANCE BIG BUYS INSTEAD OF DRAINING CASH. One of the most common cash flow mistakes is using cash to buy a major long-term asset, instead of getting financing. Use your cash flow projection to plan your financing needs ahead of time, not in the midst of a crisis, when bankers may be wary to lend. 4. SPEED UP CASH INFLOWS. Getting money into your business more quickly can save you carrying costs on your line of credit. Send out invoices more quickly, ask customers to pay electronically and charge interest to slow-payers. 5. RAISE CASH QUICKLY IN A CRUNCH. Facing an unexpected cash flow crunch? You can raise cash quickly using various techniques: approach your bank for help; check your inventory and assets to see what you can sell off; ask suppliers or your landlord for extra time to pay bills; or offer your customers a big discount to earn quick sales.
