WHO WORE IT BETTER?

Pizza Lovers Images: WENN.com

– In this special costume-themed version of Who Wore it Better – Katy Perry (L) was first seen in this pepperoni pizza design morphsuit at the famous Rocky steps outside the Philadelphia Art Museum, after performing her 2nd sold out concert at the Wells Fargo Center in August. A week later, actress-model Cara Delevingne (R) arrived back into London from Ibiza wearing the same pizza-luvin’ outfit. The usual camera-friendly extrovert had been celebrating her 22nd birthday in Ibiza with her sister and friends, but seemed a little camera-shy upon her return, zipping the morphsuit all the way up. We’re giving this one to Katy. 3 POPNEWS.CA

ARIO LOPEZ has revealed he almost became a teen father, but the pregnancy was terminated. The former Saved by the Bell star lost his virginity at the age of 12 and was staring at the prospect of parenthood just a few short years later. Lopez explains he offered to get a full-time job and help raise the baby, but the girl decided to have an abortion, according to People.com. He says, “I started having sex so young. The day before my 13th birthday. Now that I’m a dad, I look back and I think, ‘Oh my God!’ But you’ve got to understand, when you’re growing up in the hood, everybody grows up fast. “I could have a kid who is 25 years old. roubled star AMANDA BYNES has stunned fans by revealing she’s engaged. The 28-year-old Hairspray star, who was recently arrested on DUI charges in California, has told InTouch magazine she’s planning a wedding. Bynes, who has friends and fans worried for her wellbeing after displaying odd behaviour similar to that which led to months of medical care last year, lashed out at a reporter who was bombarding her with questions in New York early this month, and during a rant, she stated, “I am very needy for friendship and I hate men. I want to f**k them, but I can now say I’m engaged... I want to be married and I want to be away from people.” And discussing the couple’s family plans, she added, “I want boys, for sure. However many I can pop out. I don’t want a gorgeous girl around. Then I’d feel way jealous.” The actress claimed her 19-year-old fiance lives in Costa Mesa, California, and works in a bait shop - and they are planning to wed at The London hotel in Los Angeles before setting up home in New York, where she enjoys “walking and riding bikes”, adding, “In California, you need to drive.” It’s no surprise she is no longer a fan of driving - Bynes has been involved in a series of car-related misdemeanours in recent years and lost her licence in 2013. It was returned to her in April when it appeared she had turned her life around. She tells In Touch, “I really do not enjoy driving. I don’t like the way I look in a car. The lighting is very bad.”” (KL/ITC/MT). Visit popnews.ca for your daily entertainment highlights!

KATE WINSLET refuses to become a Hollywoodtype who obsesses over their weight and food intake, because extreme dieting is “boring”. The Titanic star admits she has cleansed and juiced in the past for movie roles, but insists she could never do it full-time. Winslet tells Marie Claire magazine, “Whenever I go to L.A. the make-up artist or hairdresser will end up having a conversation about how fat they think they are and I really just can’t take it seriously at all. “I’m just like, ‘Yeah, you’re right, you look gigantic, you need to lay off those bolied bits of chicken you’ve been eating, because have you seen your a**e?’ And they’re the size of a blinking pin. “I’m no stranger to the occasional dodgy juice, but it doesn’t taste very nice and it is bloody boring. It’s not a way to live.” (KL/MCL/LR)

“I

can’t say that any of this surprises me. I’ve been asking it all along! CelebDirtyLaundry.com reported, “Jennifer Lawrence dating Chris Martin still continues to boggle our mind. I can totally see why Chris is dating Jennifer – she’s young, pretty, and an Oscar winner – basically, a younger version of Gwyneth Paltrow but one who actually likes eating real food and having fun. But I don’t know how Jennifer could go from dating Nicholas Hoult to dating Chris Martin. Putting aside the differences in age, Chris has an ex-wife that he’s still incredibly close to, and two children that are growing up fast. What, does Jennifer think that she can become a stepmother at her age? Jennifer would have come to realize all this herself. Sources tell us she has begun to get the creeping feeling that she made a mistake. The biggest reason for her feeling this way? Chris Martin’s co-dependent relationship with Gwyneth, Chris even hosted Goopy’s birthday party! I don’t care what other people say about how Chris and Gwyneth would be better off getting back together, especially for the sake of their children. Can you blame Jennifer for being insecure about how much time Chris spends with Gwyneth?” Nope. I don’t blame her. Not for one second. I wouldn’t want a man who spent an inordinate amount of time with his ex-wife. I especially wouldn’t want one who had no plans to file for divorce like Chris isn’t. I don’t necessarily think Jennifer is insecure, though. If anything, I think she finds it more annoying. I highly doubt she’s concerned that Chris will leave her for Gwyneth. But I can see her just generally not liking the situation. Yet, I can’t say that I feel badly for Jennifer, though. She knew what she was getting into. Chris and Gwyneth have made it very well-known that they have no interest in divorcing. In fact, it was their mutual agreement. That basically implied that any woman Chris dated would take a back seat to Gwyneth. This is why it’s best to take note of the man who is too involved with his ex. Don’t think it will change if you wait it out. You don’t have time to kill waiting for him to make you a priority -- even if he does have children with her! The man who loves you puts you first. Once you come along, the ex becomes history so he can move forward with you.

Creator Mark Frost tells Variety.com, “For those followers of the show who felt bereft when the show ended where it did all those years ago are going to like where it goes from here. ormer COSBY SHOW sweetheart RAVEN-SYMONE has finally opened up about her sexuality in a revealing OPRAH WINFREY interview, but insists she doesn’t want to be labelled gay. The actress sparked rumours she was a lesbian in 2013 when she wrote a cryptic message on Twitter.com celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to support gay marriage by striking down the Defense of Marriage Act. She wrote, “I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you.” She refused to elaborate, but now Symone explains that although she is proud of being in a country where people of the same sex can marry in several states, she is not comfortable with labels about her sexuality or ethnicity. She told Oprah, “(The message on twitter) was my way of saying, I’m proud of the country. But I will say that I am in an amazing, happy relationship with my partner, a woman... (and) I am proud to be who I am and what I am... “I don’t want to be labelled gay, I want to be labelled a human who loves humans. I’m tired of being labelled. I’m an American. I’m not an African-American. I’m an American. “I don’t know where my roots go to. I don’t know how far back they go... I don’t know what country in Africa I’m from. But I do know that my roots are in Louisiana. I’m an American. That’s a colourless person. We’re all people. I have lots of things running through my veins. “I have darker skin. I have a nice, interesting grade of hair. I can connect with Caucasian, I connect with Asian, I connect with black, I connect with Indian. I connect with each culture.” (KG/WNYTB&WNVOP/KL)

plan your home’s scary set-up with safety in mind!

Halloween Home safety (NC) Eerie sounds, spooky lights and jack-o’-lanterns aglow—extra efforts at Halloween will keep visitors coming back for both tricks and treats. However, to keep the fun going, it’s important to plan your home’s scary set-up with safety in mind. Decorations for special events, most often involving candles (like those found in jack-o’-lanterns), account for an average of 800 home fires in North America, causing nearly $4 million in direct property damage every year. To keep your house from being haunted with potential insurance woes, Wayne Ross, an insurance and claims expert for Aviva Canada, offers some Halloween preparation tips for preventing fires and other insurance claims:

• Practice fire safety: When setting up spooky electrical decorations and lighting, ensure that electrical outlets are not overloaded. Consider battery or solar powered jack-o’-lanterns. • Make sure your walkways are safe: Although darkness may set the Halloween mood, keep walkways well lit and obstruction-free to reduce the risk of injury and allow many goblins to walk through simultaneously. • Check your insurance coverage: While homeowner policies generally will cover you and your property on Halloween, it is a good idea to contact your insurance broker

to ensure that you have the right amount of coverage—especially with hundreds of small visitors to your home. “It is the responsibility of homeowners to make sure their property is safe for visitors during the Halloween festivities,” states Ross. “By taking some precautions, homeowners can join in the celebrations and enjoy a safe night of fun with their families.” While you’re planning for your Halloween haunt, talk to your insurance broker or insurer to determine what you can do to keep trick or treating safe. More detailed information is available from your insurance broker or at AvivaCanada. com. Image: 123rf.com

to school – complete with new pencil crayons and binders – leaves you yearning for a new challenge yourself? Or perhaps you read one too many trashy novels this summer, and want to dive into something more substantial? You may not have the time or budget to actually go back to school, but there are many ways to keep learning without disrupting your schedule or breaking the bank, as follows: Local libraries: They’re

full of information and often schedule workshops and invite speakers. Ask for the fall calendar.

Online courses: Web sites

University grads more likely to get jobs, earn higher incomes: study

A

(NC) new report showcasing survey data of Ontario undergraduates and released by the Council of Ontario Universities (COU), shows that more than 87 per cent of recent university grads had jobs six months after graduation, with 93 per cent employed within two years. Six months after leaving school, the average salary for university undergraduates is $42,636 and that rises to $49,398 just two years after graduation. The survey of 2011 graduates conducted for Ontario's Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities also shows that university grads say they are using the skills gained at university on the job. Almost 83 per cent of graduates employed full-time considered their work to be closely or somewhat related to the skills developed at university. That rose to almost 89

per cent two years after graduation. “A university education is still the best path to a successful career and wellpaying job,” says Bonnie M. Patterson, COU President and CEO. “It's well worth the investment and graduates can rest assured they will leave university with the skills they need to move from career to career as the job market changes.” Erin Kang graduated in 2011 from University of Toronto's Urban Studies Program for which she completed a placement at the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI). Just a few months before graduation, Kang landed a permanent job at CSI. “My academic focus was community development and neighbourhood resilience,” Kang says. “Now, I'm working in that very field and loving it.” More information about the survey is available online at cou.on.ca.

Book clubs: If there’s one in your neighborhood, check it out. If you’re interested in doing a short series on a particular theme, ask a couple of likeminded people to join you. Having at least one friend to keep you accountable to your reading schedule is helpful. Advocacy groups: Web

sites for organizations like Greenpeace or World Vision Canada offer ways to become expert in anything from global warming to child and maternal health in developing countries.

Podcasts: Download a series to listen to in the car, while jogging, or even making dinner. Try CBC Radio’s Quirks and Quarks if you’re interested in science, or Lapham’s Quarterly for interviews and readings on history, literature, politics and famous people. (News Canada)
