February 2017 The container with the 26 pallets of Jukurrpa / Angkitja dated product arrived, plus another 3 pallets in a following delivery: what a prolonged problem. I spoke with Bill Palmer from IAD who assures me the 2018 editions will be with us in July next year and we will get back to business as usual. Thank you to everyone who has been so understanding, we only had one cancellation across all of Australia. (It got worse as the journals were packed in 16 copy cartons instead of 10 copy – so a workshop function to unpack, repack and then reload those 8 pallets.) It still is an ongoing fact that many of our books come with such late notice: even this week we had the final approval for the Doggies Almanac, the ultimate signed agreement for Pup Art, and notification of NSW & The Great War. They are now in the begging hands of our sales people who now travel the tight chicanes of willing or unwilling booksellers to squeeze in last minute appointments and additions to range. So are the books selling through? Is it going to be a nightmare “late Christmas”? Did my reorders arrive on time? Was I smashed by the lead titles being price crunched across the Westfield thoroughfare? I wrote a submission to the WBN last week as I clearly had our October and November results defined in my mind; if we invoice books in December as we did in October and November then I will be very pleased. Reality is we may not as our title mix is different. Last year in a period of a few weeks we invoiced 5000 copies of The Grade Cricketer and 5000 copies of Moroccan Soup Bar. Our nearest bestsellers this period are “The Art of Frugal Hedonism” and “Food as Medicine”. By the time you read this we will be over 2000 copies of the $55.00 “Food as Medicine” – only nag is that almost half have gone via online vendors. I suppose it can happen when you simply do not want to stock more “Food” books. Whereas “The Art of Frugal Hedonism” at 2000 copies only has 30% via online vendors. We have another 2000 of Frugal arriving any minute as well as more of Food as Medicine. We have once again reached out to the APA over Titlepage and whilst I have had no concrete reply what I read in the trade newsletter today did not fill me with enthusiasm for all of our publisher suppliers. It seems to exclude by saying
Words from the Wise “indie micro-publishers’ (‘a publisher of author works not their own...“). So where does that put books of ours like; Ric Charlesworth’s World’s Best, or Sione Faumuina’s “The Second Phase”, or Zoe Bingley-Pullin’s Falling in love with Food. Each of these publishers of their own work has major media occurring currently or in the New Year. Zoe goes back to Channel 10 Network with Good Chef, Bad Chef, Sione will appear on the Channel 9 Network, The Footy Show, and Ric’s previous books sold 30,000 copies. Stock up book for January is Midnight Oil – we are awaiting the announcement of breaking news about the group that will herd consumers to purchase and fight their way past Bruce, Jimmy and Brian’s books to purchase. Midnight Oil is one of the key reorder titles this week as well. I have finally taken a subscription to the Weekend Oz after all these years. Too often publishers buzz me on the weekend asking “had I read?”. Last weekend Mike & Jeanine Jones from Perth (our sales agents) were urging me to read the great review for the “Bunting Quest” and it included a pic of the jacket as well; minutes later the author of “Grand intentions” – Trevor Barr sent me a note “just an ok review” for his book. So the Bunting Quest has had The SMH, The Age, and the Weekend Australian – fabulous support for a highly crafted, well edited book – which will sell out of its first print run shortly. And those “dreaded” eBook sales have surged as well. I visit shops and count store owners or staff as not just customers but as people I highly enjoy from many considerations; so we were all really saddened this week to hear that Santo Caruso was closing down his retail shop – Melbourne Sports Books. Santo has had an up and down few years which has had more than a few moments of excruciating agony. He used to call me “wog boy” as I had a fondness of Italians riding Moto GP bikes, we even took Santo to the F1 races one year. He has been part of this DJA business for my years and prior to that in the old Harper days. Good luck Santo and I hope the health revives – from all at DJ (and also from an old friend Alan Gilbert). Keep buying and urging your customers to read. DJ

Fort Dundas was the first outpost of Europeans in Australia's north. It was a British fortification manned by soldiers, marines and convicts, and built by them on remote Melville Island in 1824. It lasted until February, 1829, when it was abandoned and left to the termites. The fort's purpose was twofold. Firstly, it was a physical demonstration of Britain's claim to the New Holland continent as far as longitude 129°E, which excluded the Dutch and the French from starting similar colonies, and it was the first of a series of fortified locations around the coast. Secondly, it was promoted as the start of a British trading post that would become a second Singapore and compete with Batavia. The settlement was named in a ceremony on 21 October 1824, but it was not a success. In its short existence we have tales of great privation, survival, greed, piracy, slavery, murder, kidnapping, scurvy, and battles with the Indigenous inhabitants of the islands, the Tiwi. It was also the site of the first European wedding and the birth of the first European children in northern Australia. None of the three military commandants who managed the outpost wanted to be there and all were gratefully relieved after their posting. They left behind thirty‐four dead ‐ victims of disease, poor diet and Tiwi spears. Others died when the crews of the fort's supply ships were slaughtered and beheaded by Malay pirates on islands to the north. Two cabin boys from one of them, the Stedcombe, were enslaved by the pirates.
Author Information Derek Pugh is an award‐winning Darwin‐based author. Pugh’s fourth book, Tambora; Travels to Sumbawa and the Mountain of Change won the Best Non‐Fiction Award in the Territory Read Book Awards in 2016. His interest in Fort Dundas was piqued during three years spent living at Pirlangimpi / Garden Point just across the bay from the site. Writing its history was a natural progression.

AVAILABLE NOW Gillie and Marc are international contemporary artists who have worked side by side for over 25 years. Their paintings and sculptures are held in major collections all over the world. The artists are absolutely thrilled to introduce their latest coffee table book, Pup Art - the fun and playful celebration of what happens when pop art meets popular pooch. There's a reason we call them man's best friend. Dogs are by far the most popular pet with nearly 40% of all Australians choosing them as their loyal companion. Gillie and Marc are also dog-lovers who have been heralded as Australia's most celebrated dog artists. They own a beautiful Weimaraner called Indie and have also built a huge fan base from their Weimaraner-inspired Dogman artworks across the world. Gillie and Marc's love of dogs sparked the idea for Pup Art, a collection of photographs that celebrates all the strange, varied, beautiful dogs in the world and brings them together in the most colourful and uplifting way. Pup Art is also a tribute to Pop Art, the much-loved artform that has made art fun, popular and accessible since the 1950s. The artists have found the perfect mix of 40 different breeds of dogs. Gillie and Marc know that every dog has its own unique personality so with each eye-catching photo, buyers are treated to the backstory of their star. Meet Leopold, the Chinese Crested pup who can't get enough of coconut oil massages or the 1980s cult-flick, Labyrinth. Flynn is the frisbee-loving Border Collie who can make a wheel of cheese disappear in two minutes. And Charlie, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, is a sweet self-proclaimed "Mummy's girl" who would like to be a cat for a day. Pup Art is equally about creating a visually appealing homage to pop art as it is about celebrating the diversity of all dogs and our love for them. This is one artwork you'll want to get your paws on. The gorgeous coffee-table book Pup Art has just been released to book stores across Australia and is already in high demand!

To Hell and Back is a memoir detailing one policewoman's trials and tribulations working within the ranks of the Victorian Police Force from the early 1980's to the present day. Despite numerous instances of harassment, false accusations and character assassinations, the member still manages to maintain her sanity and perform her policing duties to the best of her ability. Ultimately, this is a story about one person's struggle to say and do the right thing, to follow procedure, no matter what the eventual cost to herself or her career.
Author Information It is now 2016 and I have recently retired from the Victoria Police Force after nearly thirty years of service. I have enjoyed much of my time during these thirty years and believe the police force is a great career. Over the past few years it has become a great career for women who are now mostly treated as equals to the male members. I often recommend it as a great challenging career for women when I give talks to many different groups. When I joined, only approximately fourteen percent of the police force were women. This number has now grown to about forty percent. Although this book will show some of the horrific conditions policewomen had to work through during the early years, I must also add that I had some of the greatest times in my life whilst working in the Victorian Police Force.

World renowned health experts have unveiled their personal secrets to health and longevity in a new Australian book Good + Well. Written by leading Wellbeing communications specialist, Gillian Fish, the book is a collection of insights from international health luminaries including neurosurgeon Professor Charlie Teo AM, Author and Nutritionist, Patrick Holford and eminent cardiologist, Dr Mark C. Houston MD. Good + Well: 25 World Experts Share their Secrets to Wellbeing, unveils the latest advances in health science and some of the world’s biggest health game changers, in a contemporary designed, visual and literary feast of all things evidence-based Wellbeing. In his foreword, Professor Ralph Martins AO, world renowned expert in Alzheimer’s prevention said Good + Well allows readers to leverage the knowledge and experiences of a lifetime of 25 eminent health professionals. “One would expect a wide range of thinking, however, interestingly, the importance of healthy diet, physical activity, methods of relaxation, and keeping mentally active are factors that keep cropping up despite the fact that all these professionals work in different areas of health and medicine,” Professor Martins said. Over the last decade, Gillian has been exposed to the powerful evidence-based model of ‘Wellness’ and is an advocate for a proactive preventative approach to health and longevity. Good + Well offers world expert insights into the multitude of modern health challenges including poor gut health, pollution, chronic stress, and poor eating habits – too much refined sugar, too much alcohol and gluten. “All of these challenges lead to inflammation, oxidative stress and immune dysfunction – a surefire recipe for disease,” Gillian said. “The evidence is undeniable – smart researchers and world experts have shown time and time again that with constructive change and an evolution to a Preventative model of health we can save ourselves, our families and our communities.”

Available Now When the Great War began in August 1914, the people of New South Wales took up the call to arms. NSW sent more people than any other state to serve overseas and many more worked and volunteered to support the war effort. But the economic, political and emotional strains of war, and the loss of so many young men, and some women, in the service of their country, fanned social and political divisions and wrought lasting changes to the society to which serving men and women would return. New South Wales and the Great War is an authoritative history that uses the rich visual and written records of the marvelous repositories of our collective past to reveal the impact of war on the ordinary citizens of NSW, in theatres of combat and at home in our cities, towns and rural communities. New South Wales and the Great War was written by social historian Dr Naomi Parry and senior historian at the NSW Anzac Memorial Brad Manera, with Professor Stephen Garton and historian and author Will Davies. This project was commissioned by the NSW Centenary of Anzac advisory council and delivered by the Anzac History Committee under the guidance of Air Vice Marshal Robert Treloar and David Longfield of Longueville Media. Elise Edmonds of the State Library of New South Wales and the late Dr Paul Brock of the NSW Department of Education provided invaluable support.

The quality of Australian poetry has never been higher, nor the number of distinctive voices greater. A landmark publication, this collection presents the astonishing achievements of Australian poetry during the last quarter of a century. Over ten years in preparation, gathering over 200 poets and 500 poems, it makes the case for this country's poetry as a broadening of the universal set for all English‐speakers. 'Somewhat astonishingly,' the introduction notes, 'and while no‐one was looking, Australian poetry has developed a momentum and a critical mass such that it has become one more luminous field in the English‐speaking imagination. Increasingly, anyone who seeks to explore the perspectives or music available in English will also have to consider the perspectives and music which have originated here ‐ Australia having turned itself, too, into a place in the mind.' Both survey and critical review, this anthology offers a rare opportunity to explore the major national achievement of contemporary Australian poetry.

On Valentine's Day 1900, three schoolgirls and a teacher disappear while on a school outing at Hanging Rock in Victoria. What became of the missing girls and their teacher? Joan Lindsay's Picnic at Hanging Rock detailed the tragedy, and the author left strict instructions for the final chapter not to be printed until her death. Many Australians remember the 1967 book and 1975 film; many high school students studied it as part of their school curriculum. But was the story real? And did the secret chapter released after Joan Lindsay's death cast a new light on the fate of the missing ladies? In No Picnic at Hanging Rock, the mystery is explored with Lady Joan Lindsay's original editor, Sandra Forbes; Joan's personal friend Phillip Adams; actor Anne‐Louise Lambert ‐ who met Joan on the set of the film; and a range of contributors who share their theories.

Writing a book? Creating a blog? Learning photography? Starting a podcast? Launching a business? This book exists for only one reason, to help you create that something. Content Machine outlines a strategy for using content marketing to build a 7 figure business with zero advertising. By teaching the fundamentals of content marketing, how to create great content and how to stand out from the crowd, it simplifies the otherwise challenging process of creating content with impact. Since the purpose of content marketing is to build a great business, Content Machine focuses heavily on how to create a high growth business off the back of your content. Author Dan Norris shares his story about how he grew his WordPress support business from scratch to over $1m AUD annual run rate in 2 years, spending only $181.23 on advertising. The lessons learned form a framework for building businesses and scaling content marketing, that are documented throughout Content Machine in terms any entrepreneur can understand. The book outlines the #1 biggest mistake that kills content marketing efforts and how the best content marketers in the world have built their audience, their content and their business. It provides downloads and frameworks to help the reader with every aspect of content marketing, from idea generation, to writing guidelines, to hiring and scaling a content team. Whether you are a blogger, content marketer, entrepreneur or marketing manager, Content Machine will help you see the return you deserve from your content marketing efforts.

Susan Cutsforth and her husband, Stuart, are 'ordinary' people living an extraordinary life. They both work full-time: one is a teacher librarian of thirty years, and the other, a middle-level clerk in the public service. But, as Susan recounts, they own a holiday house, Pied de la Croix, in Cuzance, a small village in south-western France - the other side of the world. And not only that, this petite maison required significant renovating, which they accomplished almost singlehandedly during their working holidays. Our House is Not in Paris is a story of pushing boundaries, aiming high and, most of all, taking risks. With humour, poetry and insight, Susan's story shows that you can do more than simply dream...

Sequel to the bestselling 'Our House is Not in Paris'. Join for the first time, or continue to share in this sequel, the French renovee trials and triumphs of Susan and Stuart Cutsforth, an 'ordinary' Australian couple. Our House is Certainly Not in Paris is a magical memoir about their renovation of an old farmhouse in France. They devote their holidays to breathing life back into its ancient stone walls. It is so charmingly written that the reader is transported to their petite village and the people in this book become like old friends. This is a story about achieving dreams. It makes you want to grab life with both hands.

'You'll never be a journalist's bootlace!' During his cadetship in the early '60s, Mal Walden heard these words frequently from his news editor and media mentor, John Maher. Walden not only proved his mentor wrong, he went on to become the longest‐serving newsman on Australian television. From a career starting in country Victoria radio, Walden went on to work in Launceston and Melbourne, and then finally made the shift to television as news anchor for channels 7 and 10. Each year he maintained a journal in which he recorded his many serendipitous and life‐changing moments. These memories form a record ‐ not only of his life as a newsman ‐ but of the evolution of television news, which is now in its sixtieth year and facing what many proclaim is the imminent 'death of news' in all its traditional forms. This is the story behind the stories we think we know. A very personal look at the public face of news by one of the most well‐loved and respected news presenters of our time.
Author Information Mal Walden was 17 years of age when he applied for his first job in media and found himself in the blocks of an amazing race to be first with breaking news. At age 70, he gracefully crossed the finishing line to be recognised as the longest serving newsman on Australian television.

When someone thinks of the Australian outback you're greeted with the warmth of red sand underfoot, the low murmur of cicadas in the summer with the belly laugh of the kookaburra. Somewhere a kangaroo absently grazes. You imagine sheep‐shearing sheds, flannel shirts and tanned skin. Aussie Bush Poet is a collection of poems from someone who has long gone walkabout in the bush, not just in dreams but physically and mentally. Mixing vivid and emotional life experiences and stories with the rich and truly unforgettable Australian landscape.
Author Information John Bamford was raised in the small country‐town of Meringur, up on the edge of the sunset desert and on the Murray River. He was not the best student, finding school not the place he wanted to be, often known for instead being by the river fishing or setting up traps for rabbits along the train lines. Moving to Kyneton in Victoria he soon thereafter was expelled from school and never went back. He wouldn’t write his first poem until experiencing the difficulties that arose from a messy divorce. He has since been invited to the US on numerous occasions by the International Society of Poets and now at age 51 has collected some of his favourite poems into Aussie Bush Poet.

Drovers hold an iconic place in our Australian identity, due to the courage and perseverance needed to transport cattle and sheep hundreds of kilometres through rural and outback areas. But what of the women and children who travelled with them?
Author Information In this memoir, Patsy Kemp shares the highs and lows of growing up on the stock routes of New South Wales and Queensland in the 1950s and 1960s. While large families were common back then, it was unusual for a family of nine and a few workmen to live out of a small truck for months on end. She talks about the adventures she had during her ten years on the road. From riding a runaway sheep at the age of five to embarrassing tales of adolescence, her story is full of warmth, honesty and humour; giving a unique voice to a neglected part of Australia’s history.

True‐Life tales of the antics and heroism of our wonderful pets and wildlifeAnyone who has ever owned a pet, or been closely involved with animals in some way, has an entertaining or uplifting story to tell of the experience. Most of the stories in Smart Animals were submitted by readers of the Reader's Digest magazine over the years, to the column of the same name. It has proved to be one of the most popular and enduring of the magazine's regular features. The animals that feature in these stories include a common house mouse caught breaking and entering, a cat that has its favourite spot on the couch and will stop at nothing to grab it,a kookaburra that gate‐crashes a picnic, a horse that demands breakfast at 5 in the morning; a surf board‐riding dog; a beluga whale that helps a drowning diver to surface; and a rabbit that alerts its owner to a hypoglycaemic attack. With so many antics and heroic deeds to read about, this feel‐good book is sure to make you smile.

All These Presences publishes poems by creative writing students at Avondale College alongside work by a selection of established Australian poets. Like the three earlier volumes it follows, Wording the World (2010, Here Not There (2012 and A Way of Happening (2014, it is a unique collaboration between writers at very different stages of learning and practising their craft. Poetry writing is an intensely personal expression of experience. The poems themselves, however, have a magical ability to move from silence into a world of unexpected conversations and deep connections, not only with readers, but also with other poets. All These Presences is an exciting illustration of that connectedness. It is a vibrant gathering of presences: a fresh and wide‐ranging collection of new and mature voices from Australia's contemporary poetic community. About the Editors Jean Kent grew up in rural Queensland and now lives at Lake Macquarie. She has published five full-length poetry collections. Her most recent books are The Hour of Silvered Mullet (Pitt Street Poetry, 2015) and Paris in my Pocket (PSP, 2016), a selection of her poems from an Australia Council residency in Paris. With Kit Kelen, in 2014 Jean co-edited A Slow Combusting Hymn: Poetry from and about Newcastle and the Hunter Region. David Musgrave is a poet, novelist critic and publisher who lives in Sydney. His work has won or been shortlisted for many awards, including the Grace Leven Poetry Prize, the WA Premier’s Book Awards and the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. Carolyn Rickett is an Assistant Dean (Research), a Senior Lecturer in Communication and creative arts practitioner at Avondale College of Higher Education. She is co-ordinator for The New Leaves writing project, an initiative for people who have experienced or are experiencing the trauma of a life-threatening illness. Together with Judith Beveridge, she is coeditor of The New Leaves Poetry Anthology. Other poetry anthologies she has co-edited with Judith include: Wording the World, and A Way of Happening. Her research interests cover autobiographical writing as a therapeutic intervention, cancer narratives, trauma studies, poetry praxis and journalism practice. Available Now Follow the adventures of Mr Farmhand as he negotiates a rural existence in New Jersey, staving off the attentions of Mavis Eggwhistle, staying one step ahead of Frank Winkler and steering clear of Farmer Bart Brassica's pitchfork. His is a world full of unexpected dangers, from the odd satirical skirmish to the surprise philosophical poke in the eye, where gossip takes centre stage and life is lived on the margins. It's a tough gig, but somebody has to do it. Select Episodes from the Mr Farmhand Series is perhaps the first literary work to feature instant polenta and dirty snow in the same sentence. It does not so much occupy a new literary genre as create one‐ an episodic play of pun‐laden prose, each taking a seriously silly photograph as its point of departure. But better than that, it's funny. Carol Jenkins and her collaborating photographer Ingrid Periz have an uncannily absurd and whimsical eye. Bringing the Select Episodes of Mr Farmhand into the Puncher and Wattmann stable is a coup, possibly even a chicken coup.
Author Information Carol Jenkins lives in Sydney. She has two books published Fishing in the Devonian (2008) and Xn (2013) both from Puncher & Wattmann and shortlisted for the Premiers’ Awards. Her collaborator Ingrid Pertz lives in New Jersey and her most recent book is Robert MacPherson, The Painter’s Reach (QAGOMA, 2015).

Take some planned time out to smell the roses and have an epic adventure on the sea that will transform your life, relationships and bring new vigour to your business and career, before you retire. Traditional sabbatical leave by its very nature is designed to be thought‐provoking and progressive. However a SEAbbatical takes this to a whole new level by taking you to the most remote locations that are virtually impossible to get to without a boat and takes you out of your comfort zone over the sea to prove just what you are capable of. Marine industry expert Brent Vaughan investigates how many of his customers have escaped the daily grind of well established businesses and careers, to explore the world on their own SEAbbatical. He extracts a logical 5 step formula that anyone with the means can apply to make a SEAbbatical a reality, regardless of experience level. For the first time there is a book that walks you through the essential stages of this incredible experience, from Planning your adventure, Purchasing the right boat, Profiting to help fund the boat, Preparing for the journey, and About the Author Growing up on an island in the Great Barrier Reef, Brent Vaughan has spent his life onboard boats. Having spent more than 20 years in the marine industry, Brent now runs Multihull Central, one of the world’s fastest growing boat sales agencies specialising in cruising catamarans. Combining his passion for boats, tourism and business, Brent specialises in helping customers realise financial returns from their boats using commercial charter boat programs to help make boat ownership and cruising a reality sooner in life. Brent as been a regular contributor to a large number of marine magazines and online publications.

It is 1810 somewhere in the chaos of war‐ravaged Napoleonic Portugal. Miss Charlotte Everslea, dedicated member of an ancient secretive Guild and skilled paranormal artefacts hunter, is hot on the trail of a madman who has stolen an arcane book with the power to change the course of history. Unfortunately, a reversal of fortune for the British troops has left her trapped behind enemy lines pursued by thieves and kidnappers. Colonel Maximillian Bladewood is used to giving orders and having them obeyed, both on and off the battlefield. As eldest of the large untidy Bladewood brood, life has equipped him for most of its vicissitudes, or so he believed. But the petite goldenhaired hoyden, to whose accidental intervention he owes his life, challenges both his authority and his sanity. Their cross‐purposed journey is further exasperated by their mutual, undiscussed attraction and an eventual crossroads where one or both of them will need to compromise is looming. Readers of Jayne Ann Krentz and Mary Jo Putney will feel right at home.
Author Information After earning a living as a freelance environmental scientist, writer and editor, Kelly Lyonns has evolved into a creative writer. She cohabitates with three cats, two children and a husband in a house so packed with character even the termites live next door. Burning questions about ecological sustainability and how to tie a Regency bodice, keep her on the internet deep into the night. She enjoys tea, meditating, Jane Austen, solar punk, science fiction, sculpting and science. She frequently succumbs to the need to write. She rarely succumbs to the need to vacuum.

Steven is a dynamic marketing man, Jewish but not religious. When he begins developing a new business strategy for an established chain of Church‐run op‐shops, he quickly forms a strong working relationship with Frances, one of the board members. Frances is a middle‐aged practising Catholic, who lives in the mountain ranges outside Melbourne. She lives a life shaped by nature, her religion and the seasons. It provides her with contentment and a deep spiritual dimension. The bedrock of their growing bond is the conversations they engage in, as they learn more about each other through religion, history and the relationships that have defined them. Their business formality slowly becomes a friendship, then something more. Both Steven and Frances maintain a steady control on their relationship, but they both know it can't last forever. Frances is experiencing a sexual and religious awakening, and Steven finds himself increasingly at odds with her deep spirituality. Even as their relationship becomes more and more intense, their time together is heading towards an unexpected and dramatic finish.
Author Information Roger Mendelson was born and raised in Melbourne, which has been his home city except for three years living in the UK. He is married to Sue and has three adult children. He is the author of two business books and this is his first work of fiction.

Lives of the Papunya Tula Artists chronicles the beginnings of the Western Desert art movement and the phenomenal development of its founding art company over four decades. Through comprehensive and widely research biographies of more than 200 men and women the book illuminates lives balanced between first contact and international stardom, poverty and record auction prices. In the early 1970s, a small group of Western Desert 'painting men' at Papunya in Central Australia seized the opportunity to experiment with new techniques and materials, producing vibrant and innovative works that give enduring expression to their powerful tjukurrpa (Dreamings). In the years since, Papunya Tula Artists Pty Ltd has made a profound contribution to the Western Desert art movement and international contemporary art. Over 25 years in the making, Lives of the Papunya Tula Artists celebrates both the individual lives of the artists and their cooperative endeavour. It showcases the importance of what they share: family and country, significant sites, tjukurrpa and life histories. Illustrated with numerous candid photographs and key artworks, this book charts the historical landscape of the Papunya Tula artists revealing a collective creative achievement of rare genius. Another Brick in the Wall tells the humorous story of Dan Martin, a rugby player who defected from the Eastern Bloc and settled in Australia in the 1980's. Coming from a non-English speaking background and not academically inclined, Dan's communication skills are very shaky and much of the humour of the novel comes from his misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the English language. Dan, a typical rugby player who enjoys food, booze and sexy women, falls for Sonia - a stunningly attractive brunette. At the same time, trying to improve his language skills, he starts to listen to Sarah Wilkinson's talk back radio program and becomes infatuated with her, even though he has no idea what she looks like. Soon he is caught between two women: the gorgeous looking Sonia and the smart, witty Sarah whom he has never seen. Dan knows that sooner or later, he must choose between the two and his decision leads to a thrilling ending.

Against the sedate background of life in a regional Victoria, The Seduction of Clayton Latour explores the emotions of lust, greed, ambition and revenge that lie just below the surface. Like the Yarrowee Creek that wends its way through the heart of town, one moment there is a trickle and the next a raging torrent.Clayton Latour has been working at Grant & Leeson's, Chartered Accountants, for 12 years and sees no prospect for promotion. His colleagues are younger, cleverer and more devious. Even his marriage to Louise operates on automatic pilot. Now aged 43, Clayton is beginning to doubt whether his life has any real meaning. This all changes when Clayton Latour spies the "Lolitaesque" Fleur Conway by the side of his neighbour's pool. A nubile minx with the power of a 36D cup to tantalise the most unwitting male, Fleur lives the fantasy world of B-grade cinema and the femme fatale. She is the nemesis who undermines Clayton Latour and sets in motion a chain of events that lead to murder, betrayal, judgment and, ultimately, redemption. Who seduces whom, we ask? And what will the consequences be? The tragic death of Grant &

By helping others I have actually begun to help myself. I have written my own book called My Discreet Bully which is about 2 best friends named Jessica and Lily, they grew up together. Where's My Memory? tells the story of Bernard the desert elephant who struggles during the midday heat. In their desperate need for water, his family are forced to walk on. After several days and nights, hope of his survival slowly fades until an unexpected act gives him the strength to keep going. He learns important lessons about the value of selflessness and random acts of kindness. Follow Bernard as he understands the true power of kindness that will not only save himself but will help to pass on his new‐found wisdom to his entire family too. Where's My Memory? is a book aimed at primary school children. It tells the tale of an elephant who returns to the place of his birth to lay down for the final time. In their search for water, his family are forced to reluctantly leave him behind. The text works on a number of levels and promotes the culture of community amongst children. Giving for the sake of giving. Helping because help is needed. The underlying message behind the text is that 'A kind and compassionate act is often its own reward." It shows children that the smallest gesture on your part may mean the world to somebody else. Within the story Bernard is helped by another species of animal. He cannot repay her as she quickly moves on but the lesson he learns from her kindness is one which ultimately helps him to save the life of another and in the end help his family to grow.
Author Information Gavin McCormack is a primary school teacher based in Sydney Australia who wants to change the way children learn the most important lessons of life. He has seen the impacts of negativity and selfishness in the classroom and playground and wants children to understand from an early age that a kind act can change the world for somebody else. Having worked in the classroom for almost 20 years he wanted to create a story that allows children to understand that a kind act is not carried out because of the rewards it brings but is actually its own reward. '...and we will be like two stars circling about each other, drawn together ‐ a double star...' It's 1961 and life turns upside‐down when 15‐year‐old Sandra and her family move to the city from their small country town. She's upset to leave behind her beloved piano teacher, her almost‐boyfriend Nick Morgan, and especially best friend Emilia. Heart‐searching letters fly between the two girls as Sandra's ambition to be a concert pianist takes a new direction and she is overwhelmed by an unexpected and dangerous friendship. "...a retro teenage romance with adulthood more than a shadowland on the fringes. Absorbing as a sequel to The Midnight Pianist, excellent as a book on its own." ‐ David Brooks Candida Baker on The Midnight Pianist ‐ 'A delightful coming‐of‐age story about first love, teenage dreams and the courage to face reality... all told through a filter of beautiful music.'

"Myrtlewump and Mutterbee were two best friends who did not always agree". When one room faces east and the other faces west, how can they tell that they are just looking at different versions of the same thing?
Author Information Fiona Levings is a Tasmanian‐based author/illustrator. Mother to a beautiful, sleep‐allergic child she went for a walk late one wild and windy night and saw a moonbow. Once she’d gotten home and Googled it (to make sure that her overtired brain wasn’t just seeing things) she went to ask Myrtlewump, who was digging for worms in her front yard, if he’d ever seen one. Apparently, he had.

It is Christmas Eve... but there is no star to be found on top of the tree! With the help of Santa and some stardust, can Flossie bring home a star and restore the Christmas magic? Author Information Nancy Watson was raised on the land in the Yass and Young districts of NSW, her father being a grazier of wool and wheat. In Young, she was school captain in 1959, and then worked in the banking industry until she married in 1965. Raised with a love of music, she played piano for a number of years and loved singing in local musicals in her early life. After raising two children, she re-entered the workforce and worked for a coal mining company in the Lake Macquarie area for 17 years. Her interest in writing remained constant throughout her early career, but did not take off until she had a travel article published in 2013. Then in 2015, she joined a creative writing group through U3A, where she had an unexpected inspiration to write about Flossie the fairy … perhaps influenced by the memory of a little moss fairy garden she had as a child. Nancy has lived for the past 30 years on the western edge of Lake Macquarie; the many moods of the lake never disappoint.

A read‐aloud picture book, based on the real lives and faces of a group of ladies who all adore their grandkids. Each page features a different character and rhyme to tell stories of how modern grandmas like to have fun. Recommended for all children who like the alphabet and can't get enough of their grandma! "Grandmas are great, nannas are fun. They're all so different... Who's your favourite one?" An alphabet in rhyme, based on the true lives and faces of some beloved grandmas, oumas and nonnas!
Author Information After more than fifteen years of working as a corporate writer, Andrea Gallagher wrote Superstar Grandmas (and the follow-up, Mega-Rad Grandads) to fulfill a childhood dream of becoming a children’s book author. It was also an opportunity to present a positive image of aging to children. After becoming a mother of two boys, she was reacquainted with the types of books that she had loved as a child, and now had two in-house test subjects to study and design stories for. Through her children, she was also exposed to a generation of grandparents (more vibrant and active than any other before them) who became the inspiration for her rhymes. Andrea is a lover of old things, a collector of simple treasures, an occasional gardener, and a slightly-broken supermodel (which is also the name of her blog for grown-ups). Based in Brisbane, she enjoys an active, sunny lifestyle, raising her young family. About the Illustrator David Clare has worked for more thirty years as a commercial graphic artist but has been mastering oil painting and his love of all things artistic for even longer. Creating the images for Superstar Grandmas has been his first experience of working as an illustrator (as well as his first time working with acrylics for a while), and he is now busy breathing life into the faces for the follow-up book, Mega-Rad Grandads. After being a stay-at-home father during the early years with his three children, he knows a lot about how art can inspire and delight little people and uses this in his method as an illustrator. David lives in Brisbane, where he still works as a graphic artist, as well as teaching art classes in the evenings and enjoying a love of music and sports in any spare time he gets. Reeling from a brutal attack that leaves her best friend dead and her badly injured, Lisa Fulbrook flees to the countryside to recuperate. With only vague memories of the event, she isolates herself from her friends and family, content to spend her days wandering the hills with her dog, Riley. However, Lisa is soon plagued, not only by vivid flashbacks, but questions, too: how did their assailant know them? Why were they attacked? And what really happened that night? As she desperately tries to piece together the memories, Lisa realises that there’s another truth still hidden to her, a truth she can’t escape from. A truth that may have been right in front of her all along.
Fifteen year old Yael is on the run. The Jewish girl seeks shelter from the Germans on the farm of the village outcast. Aleksei is mute and solitary, but as the brutal winter advances, he reluctantly takes her in and a delicate relationship develops. As her feelings towards Aleksei change, the war intrudes and Yael is forced to join a Jewish partisan group fighting in the woods. Torn apart and fighting for her life, The Song of the Stork is Yael's story of love, hope, and survival. It is the story of one woman finding a voice as the voices around her are extinguished.
'Dare to Remember is a tense journey into one woman's struggle with the aftermath of a vicious attack that killed her best friend. I found myself frantically turning the pages, desperate to uncover what happened on the night of the attack. Susanna Beard is a thought-provoking, skilled debut writer who will no doubt win a new army of thriller fans with this clever novel.' --Tracy Buchanan
