LONG STAYS ( ESTADAS LONGAS )

She’s lost count of the number of times she has visited Madeira. “But it must be more than 20”, says Mary Gray who gave us an interview in the gardens of The Cliff Bay. The hotel team is like family and she’s got her next holidays booked : in December at The Cliff Bay, of course !!

I am not sure how many times . .. in number of years, over 20. At The Cliff Bay.

Não tenho certeza de quantas vezes já fiquei . .. em número de anos, mais de 20. No The Cliff Bay. )

I KNOW THAT YOU ARE STAYING HERE FOR A LONG STAY. HOW MANY WEEKS WILL YOU BE STAYING WITH US ?

Six weeks this time. Normally I come here three times a year so, 18 to 20 weeks a year.

( SABEMOS QUE VAI FAZER AGORA UMA ESTADA LONGA. QUANTAS SEMANAS VAI FICAR AQUI CONNOSCO ?

Desta vez seis semanas. Normalmente venho à Madeira três vezes por ano, por isso, são entre 18 e 20 semanas por ano. )

WHAT MAKES YOU COME TO MADEIRA AND CHOOSE THE CLIFF BAY ?

The people of the island, are so friendly . .. but the staff here at the hotel is wonderful !! Without the staff it wouldn’t be the same.

( O QUE LHE FAZ VIR À MADEIRA E ESCOLHER O THE CLIFF BAY ?

As pessoas da ilha são tão amigáveis . .. mas a equipa do hotel é fabulosa !! Sem a sua equipa não seria o mesmo. )

TO SEE HERE IN THE ISLAND ?

Well, I have been coming to the island since 1990. During the 90’s my husband and I would hire a car, we have been all over the island !! But there has been a lot of changes.

( AINDA TEM COISAS PENDENTES PARA DESCOBRIR NA ILHA ?

Bem, tenho vindo à Madeira desde 1990. Nos anos 90 eu e meu marido alugávamos um carro. Já percorremos a ilha toda !! Mas muitas coisas já mudaram. )

AND WHEN YOU ARE HERE IN THE HOTEL, WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE ?

I love The Rose Garden for breakfast . .. its beautiful setting !! I also like going down by the sea, and for eating I love Avista, is fabulous !!

( E QUANDO ESTÁ AQUI NO HOTEL, QUAL É O SEU LUGAR FAVORITO ?

Adoro o pequeno-almoço no The Rose Garden . .. o seu belo cenário !! Também adoro descer à beira-mar, e para comer adoro o Avista, é fabuloso !! )

Oh !! Christmas in Madeira is wonderful !! The lights in the town . .. fabulous !! And the fireworks in New Year’s Eve, of course. It’s wonderful !!
