Anonymous

Well, not really anonymous - on my recent trip to Lisbon this mantra kept repeating in my head. I’m hearing voices, but they’re good ones, telling me that this world is a projection, a mirage of collective thoughts made manifest. It is observed by the awareness and the awareness has the power to change it at will, simply by focusing intention, coupled with emotion and tripled with creative force. We are one and this one likes to observe and simply be - in presence, in love, with full attention. Check it now as you read this. Feel the awareness inside of yourself, behind the thoughts and focus your attention back onto the awareness itself - beyond thought, beyond life, beyond death. ONE.

THE SCENT OF ENLIGHTENMENT

We already loved Be Kind incense, which is completely chemical-free and made from the purest ingredients, but their latest release, the Cove-Pink Lotus, is really something special. In many traditions, the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment and the journey towards spiritual awakening, and the Pink Lotus scent encapsulates this perfectly. It also takes inspiration from the sacred cove in Greystones, where so much wellness and togetherness occurs between water sports, sea dipping, beach gatherings, and the new Rise café.

EMPOWERING EDUCATION

We were excited to hear about an important educational opportunity for women starting this September. The empowering course, led by Dublin-based osteopath Yael Margalit, aims to give women an in-depth understanding of their pelvic anatomy and menstrual cycle physiology. Given the lack of quality information about women’s health today, this course will work towards bridging that gap by fostering empowerment through education.

1 Sibling Survivors

CHILDREN FOUND ALIVE IN AMAZON AFTER 40 DAYS.

On 1 May, a crash occurred when a Cessna single-engine propeller plane with seven passengers and a pilot declared an emergency due to an engine failure. The small aircraft fell off radar shortly after, instigating a frantic search for survivors. Two weeks later, on 16 May, a search team located the plane in a dense part of the rainforest. They recovered the bodies of the adults, but the young children were nowhere to be found.

Sensing they could be alive, Colombia’s army ramped up the search for the siblings, flying 150 soldiers with dogs into the area to track them.

Members of the children’s community hoped that their knowledge of fruits and jungle survival skills would increase their chances of survival.

Dozens of volunteers from indigenous tribes also joined the search, and helicopters broadcast a message from the children’s grandmother urging them to stop moving to make locating them easier.

Though this rainforest is home to jaguars, snakes and other predators, the children survived there for 40 days. When searchers finally found them, the group of siblings, aged 13, 9, 4 and 11 months, were alone and are now receiving medical attention.

Following their rescue, the children’s grandmother, Fatima Valencia, said: “I am very grateful, and to mother earth as well, that they were set free.”

She explained that the eldest of the four siblings was used to looking after the other three while their mother worked, which undoubtedly helped them survive.

“She gave them flour and cassava bread, any fruit in the bush, they know what they must consume,” Ms Valencia said.

The words of President Gustavo Petro expressed following the joyful rescue, summed up their remarkable feat: “They were alone, they themselves achieved an example of total survival which will remain in history.”

2 3D-printed Schools

24-YEAR-OLD ENTREPRENEUR AIDS EDUCATION IN MADAGASCAR.

Last year the non-profit Thinking Huts constructed its first 3D-printed school in the city of Fianarantsoa in Madagascar. Using this construction method, 24-year-old Maggie Grout, founder and CEO of Thinking Huts, was able to bring her vision to life in record time; it took just 18 hours to print the walls and three weeks to complete the structure. Now, her organisation is preparing to set up its second 3D-printed campus, nicknamed “Honeycomb,” on the west coast of the African island.

The campuses have several huts and a honeycomb design with solar panels; they are also equipped with drinkable water, Wi-Fi and toilets. While the first campus was constructed in an urban part of Madagascar, Honeycomb will be built in a more remote location, catering to three villages in the southwestern region of the African island, where more than 200 students aged 4 to 16 live.

“Drawing inspiration from the beehive, it symbolises bringing together people to form a community that only thrives if everyone works

towards a shared mission,” Grout stated. “3D printing allows for a reduction of construction waste and time.”

As of 2022, roughly seventy-five per cent of secondary-age children in Madagascar were not attending school for reasons such as overcrowding and dangerous commutes, according to the United Nations. Through Thinking Huts, Grout aims to make a lasting difference rather than following “the ‘typical charity model’ of parachuting into a community and then leaving”.

Building water and sanitation systems on campus is one way they can ensure the project’s sustainability. Once the project is completed, Thinking Huts will let local partners take it from there.

“We do think through the holistic collateral impacts of what we’re doing,” Grout explained. “We’re really just aiming to be a stepping stone for [the community] to be successful on their own…. We don’t want them to be dependent on us.”

3 Blooming Biodiversity

BOTANISTS DISCOVER RARE ORCHIDS GROWING AT TRINITY.

Recently, two species of rare orchids were discovered growing on the campus of Trinity College Dublin.

Though there are several species of wild orchids in Ireland, they are usually found in fields, bogs, woods or mountains. Much to the surprise of botanists, a broad-leaved helleborine and a pyramidal orchid have also sprung up on a lawn next to Trinity’s Front Arch.

Examining the 60cm broad-leaved helleborine, Jennifer McElwain, a Professor of Botany at Trinity, remarked: “It’s really unusual to find this orchid anywhere. It’s rare. It’s extra unusual to find it in the middle of Trinity, right in Front Square, in the middle of the city.”

Professor McElwain believes this unexpected discovery is the result of the university’s participation in ‘No Mow May’, an annual campaign that encourages gardeners not to mow their lawns during the month of May so that plants and pollinators can thrive. After they stopped mowing at Trinity,

nature quickly got to work, leading to the growth of three orchids, including another species. An orchid-rich meadow is now thriving in the middle of Dublin.

Professor McElwain believes this seed could have been underground all along, just waiting for the right conditions to grow. She hopes the appearance of orchids in Front Square will further incentivise people to do their part for biodiversity.

“In this lawn alone, more than 35 plant species have come up. And if you think each one of those plant species supports one or two species of pollinators, that’s 90-odd species. If this lawn was a mown, clipped lawn, you would have a species diversity of one.”

“This demonstrates how simple measures can lead to really spectacular results. Never in our wildest dreams did we expect this,” she said.

1 Tears Of Truth

CRYING TO REMEMBER WHO WE ARE.

We all cry sometimes—some of us more than others, depending on our makeup and the behaviours we have learned from our environment. While many people have internalised the idea that crying is weak, embarrassing, or simply unpleasant, those of us who have done inner work have the opportunity to view this natural response through a different lens.

Lately, when crying, whether tears of joy or sadness, I experience such a potent recognition of my Truth. It feels like an emotional eruption of who I am, my inner child, breaking through the mental layers and barriers I’ve built up to protect myself.

This raw vocalisation of emotion

instantly shines an internal mirror on the parts of myself I haven’t been accepting, causing me to see them with compassion and tenderness as I would a child seeking love.

In those moments, I can feel the Truth of myself and the world—the beautiful fragility that underlies it all, whether we’re aware of it or not. How I wish I could carry this feeling with me so I can remember the Truth whenever I get lost again in the matrix.

Crying is a simultaneous recognition, embrace, and letting go of the old Self. Through our tears, we shed layers and layers of internalised information that

2 Past Lives

no longer serves us, that’s no longer who we are

We let this rise up, we honour it, and then allow it to dissolve back into the great cosmic web, the eternal sea of energy, so that we can also return to our true essence.

SHIFTING TIMELINES AND CHOOSING A NEW REALITY.

Many people, especially those on a spiritual path, have received insight into their past lives, whether through past life regression, early childhood memories, or a deep knowing. When I was a young child, I told my parents that I was a Chinese emperor in my past life, which must be why I am so interested in Chinese culture and language.

Recently, I came to realise that we can also have “past lives” within the “same life”. I started feeling that time was somehow different than it used to be. For example, things that happened just a year ago in my life felt like they had occurred many years ago. I wasn’t sure why until I began understanding the concept of different timelines or parallel realities.

According to manifestation coach Juliet Cleary, we constantly shift between different timelines depending on where we are focusing. In other words, you can instantly become the version of yourself experiencing the life you want simply by

choosing and accepting that that’s who you are now.

As we continue to choose this, elevating higher and higher into the reality of our dreams, it’s inevitable that the past we experienced in other timelines will feel more and more distant. Another spiritual teacher I follow said she doesn’t even remember her past anymore now that she lives in a higher timeline.

While it can be fun and nostalgic to reminisce about specific memories, nothing we experienced previously has to be a part of our current reality unless we want to include it.

Your past is a past life, whether you experienced it millennia ago or two minutes ago, and with this realisation comes the immense and exciting freedom to create ourselves from scratch in every moment.

INNER PEACE

Lizzie Eagan

Inner peace is something that I believe waxes and wanes throughout life based on many factors. One factor is environmental; whenever I am in a quiet and calm space, my mind and body are automatically at ease. Feeling grounded and taking the time to meditate also helps me feel tremendously better. Meditating through deep breathing aids me in times of anxiety by anchoring into my body and getting out of my busy mind. In today’s fast-paced world, we are taught to do everything in a hurry which completely disconnects us from our bodies. If we all take even just a few minutes a day to find a quiet space to relax into ourselves, I believe we can experience states of inner peace more frequently.

Mariana Saad

I understand inner peace as a state of being psychologically and existentially at peace, despite a big amount of anxiety and stress triggers in the environment. What would bring me inner peace is sometimes silence. Silence from social media, from all sorts of interactions, from the speed of everyday life and the pressure of societal expectations. Under this banner, I could mention cutting contact with toxic people who consciously or unconsciously try to steal my piece of mind by their judgment, negativity and envy. I never fully reached inner peace and I don’t know if anyone has, but doing what I love to do instead of what I should do helps me get closer to a form of inner peace. I slowed my lifestyle pace a few years ago, I engage in healthy mind stimulation, such as taking courses in Astrology, Herbalism and Shamanism and this gets me out of my worries and anxiety.

Inner peace is a concept I have struggled with, fleeting at times - yet I strive to ground myself for a calmer and more meaningful life.

Gratefulness, a true sense of self and viewing life through a broader lens are ways in which I find the peace within.

I am grateful for what I have - knowing there is a safe place to call home, grateful to be healthy and to have my family. A strong sense of self is important in developing inner peace. Knowing life will be tumultuous at times, but also knowing I can withstand these difficulties with courage, conviction and a sense of clarity.

Inner peace is also founded in my belief that life is neither strictly one way nor the other. I have found that being flexible and adapting to unforeseen circumstances can help to bring inner peace.

Peace of mind, peace in life and peace of the inner soul form the basis to create an inner serenity.

Taylor Grimes

Inner peace can be defined as a state of serenity despite the presence of stressors. However, on my own journey of finding inner peace I have realised not only does it have no real definition, it is also more complex than that. I am guilty of falsely claiming to find inner peace in other people and places, believing that my version of inner peace came from outside of myself. It was only when I stripped back that layer and sat with the discomfort of my own company, I realised that internally I lacked peace entirely. I forced myself to stay with this feeling rather than bury it by keeping myself busy. I began to nurture my own energy and discover who I really am, connecting back and healing deep-rooted wounds. Ultimately, I realised inner peace was not as simple as I thought, but rather a lifelong journey of always choosing to come back to yourself.

TRUSTING OUR CHOICES MOMENT-TO-MOMENT.

POSITIVE PARENTING
12
find your in parenting
“Good parenting does not insure against difficulties.”

Most of us parents have internal habits of mind that sap our energy and make life harder. We compare ourselves with others, with friends or to the latest parenting trend. We judge ourselves, filling our minds with self-criticism. The lack of respect for the emotional work of parenting in our society further engraves these habits in our consciousness.

Here are four common thoughts that parents have. Draining, negative thoughts that do nothing to celebrate the powerful job you are doing - parenting. How can we respond to these constructively?

Here’s how to find your peace in parenting:

1.“If I were a good parent, I would be doing XYZ right now.”

This thought comes to us, no matter what we decide to do. If we’re washing the dishes, we think that a good parent would be playing with the kids right now. And when we’re playing with the children, we think that we should really be making those three phone calls on our “to do” list. Even when we have an hour to ourselves, but we’re too tired to think of anything we would honestly like to do, we tell ourselves that we’ve just wasted an hour that could have been used much better! Instead, we could be backing our own decisions, moment by moment or hour by hour.

In almost every family with children, there IS too much to do for one or two people. The job IS too big, too demanding. But that doesn’t mean that we’re making poor decisions over and over. It means that parents have too little support! In the midst of many choices, we need to back ourselves, choice by choice. “I get to wash these dishes, and enjoy the suds.” “I get to play and those phone calls will wait.” “This is my hour. Whatever the heck I do with it is my business, and if I’m staring at the walls, then that must be what I need to do.”

Once in a while, we parents need to have a good tantrum about how much there is to do, and how hard it is to feel competent when needs seem to jump up and down in front of us everywhere we look. Finding a person who won’t be worried about us, and asking that person to just listen and care while we let go of the feelings that make us think we can’t possibly be doing a good job, will help us release our grief and frustration. Then, we can go back to giving ourselves permission to enjoy and explore the choices we make.

2. “Oh, no! I don’t know what to do!”

We make hundreds of decisions a day, responding to our children and to the many situations that arise. No person would know what to do at every moment of such a complex day. Children are inventive, and when we feel like we’ve figured out what to do about a behaviour that’s been puzzling, they quickly come up with another that’s bound to baffle. This is parenting. This is living life on a steep learning curve, children and parents alike.

What if we work to replace our “Oh no!” response with a warm and curious: “I don’t know what to do!” with, “Hmm, this is interesting. I really have no idea what to do or say. I guess I’ll have a chance to learn something here!”

Not knowing what to do, or why a child is being the way they are isn’t a disaster. It’s an open door to learning. Seeing that we don’t know what to do is far better, in fact, than doing the same thing that doesn’t work over and over again. It’s progress! It’s something to celebrate. When you know that you don’t know something, you have the power to set out to learn.

You can ask for help. You can consult with other parents or trusted folks around you. You can read. You can take a week to study the baffling situation—when does it happen? What seems to trigger it? How do you feel about it? How many responses have you tried, and what happened with each? What does the situation remind you of? What are your goals here?

Rather than feeling defeated because you don’t know something, you could be proud of yourself for setting out on a path of learning. So, next time your children or teens baffle you, notice you’ve been stumped again, and celebrate: “Wow, now here’s something I just don’t know how to handle! And I’ve noticed. Good!”

3. “A good parent ought to be able to handle this by him/herself. What’s wrong with me, that things are so out of whack?”

Actually, parenting is complex work. It’s hard work. It’s emotionally challenging work. Would you want your surgeon to have been figuring out surgery all by herself for eight years, rather than working closely with others in medical school and in residency? Would you want your local bridge builder to be self-taught in welding, and making design decisions by himself? Of course not!

We need to ask for help. We need to try to set up cooperative arrangements, formal or informal, with other parents and

with friends and family. “I need help here” is not a matter for shame or a sign of failure. It’s a sign that parenting is an intensive care effort that parents sustain over many years, and one that, by its nature, will present challenges that require the thinking and support of several caring folks, not just the one or two parents.

I think one of the things we forget as parents is that it’s so satisfying to provide support when it’s needed, and that we all take turns doing that for one another in a healthy, vibrant community. We give, and we take. A healthy mindset is, “I’m almost at the end of my rope. Who could help? What can I stop doing, so I’m not so stressed?” And the last habit of mind parents could do without:

4. “Any good parent would not have children who are doing this!”

We all worry about our children. We all often feel like it’s someone’s fault when our children’s behaviour is difficult for us. Either we blame them, or we blame ourselves, or both. But in reality, growing up is a very bumpy road under the best of circumstances.

Children who have the courage to show where they struggle are children who trust that their parents love them. Good parents have children who run into every difficulty in the book. Good parenting does not insure against difficulties. Struggles are bound to develop. We have enough work tackling those challenges, without being upset with ourselves that they exist.

This is one habit of mind that is best relieved by finding a listener. Someone needs to hear how you feel about yourself, about parenting right now, and about the child who is difficult for you. Someone needs to be there for you, to hear how it is, to reassure you that your child is good, and that your love matters, even if things have gotten so hard that you can’t even feel that love right now.

It takes some time and attention to make new paths of thought in our minds, but that work leads us out of isolation, and into a kinder outlook on ourselves, and our children and teens, bringing more inner and outer peace to the world.

from surviving to thriving

FINALLY BEFRIEND YOUR INNER CHILD.

I did a series of three Instagram Lives recently on how I transformed my life. The first Instagram Live was all about how I reached rock bottom and the mess my life was in. How I was filled with insecurity, fear, and anxiety. My mind was in turmoil. I call it my caterpillar stage; I was deeply struggling. I had lost my confidence and self-worth, and my self-esteem was nonexistent. I didn’t ‘fit in’ to societal norms. I was moving country, and county, going through a divorce, no money, no home, no job in the middle of the collapse of the Celtic Tiger with my three wonderful children. There was an abundance of inner conflict and terror, but no calm, no ease, and definitely no inner peace. My only solace was my children.

But, much like what JK Rowling maintains, ‘rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life’. So, in my second Instagram Live, I went on to describe the tools I used to slowly create momentum and turn my life around. While in the third Instagram Live, I described the transformation from surviving to thriving using these tools. What was the major tool I used to regain inner peace and transform my life? Well,

it is the very simple yet so profoundly powerful tool of your Inner Child.

Why is your Inner Child so important? Because actually, your inner child represents and reprogrammes your subconscious. Remember, the subconscious loves feeling, imagination and visualisation. When you build a relationship up with your inner child, you can direct this child and tell it what to do. When you are feeling negative, this child needs your love and attention. If you can place your positive focus on this little child repeatedly, you have nearly all the ingredients you need to create what you want in your life. However, if you have ignored and abandoned your inner child, you are limiting yourself greatly, and your focus is compromised.

It is really important that you know what this little child inside you is up to. Like all children, it has the potential to

create great things or to create mayhem. Basically, if you can befriend your inner child, you can use it as a tool to focus and master your mind. Remember, to reprogramme your mind, you must have feelings. We are past masters at giving ourselves lots of negative feelings, but we never really conjure up positive ones. By repeatedly reaching inside yourself with positive feelings instead of negative ones and using your internal chatter to do this, you are building up new neural pathways in your mind. Imagine new habits, like confidence, self-worth, self-esteem, fun, play, happiness and inner peace.

Another tool that I use in conjunction with my Inner Child to thrive is meditation. I meditate every day. I also reach for that bigger part of me, that part I refer to as my Higher Self. If you can imagine your mind is wired up like a three-pin plug. You have a positive wire, or your higher self. This is the part of you that is connected to everything, that quantum part of you. Then you have your negative wire; that’s your fearful inner child who disconnects every time you are triggered. And finally, you have the neutral wire or the age-old observer. You have the capacity to observe yourself. When all the wires in the plug are disconnected from each other, you have no power. Equally so, when you have little mastery of your mind, you end up in a mess like me. However, when you wire all your internal wires up! Then you have more and more mastery, and it was that which caused the transformation in my life. I am no longer the caterpillar struggling; I have allowed myself to break through the chrysalis and fly like a beautiful butterfly.

If you would like some help connecting to your own Inner Child to regain inner peace and prepare to fly, there are some meditative visualisations on my website. You can also listen to my three full recordings on Instagram Live to help you.

practise peace

It is my hope that by sharing these three ways to increase inner peace, you may surprise yourself by how peaceful you can soon be.

1. Make Peace Your Priority

If we want to experience a more permanent inner peace, then you must make it more important than anything else. It is only when we make peace our priority that we realise how often we make other things more important and, in doing so, give away our peace for silly reasons.

I used to get super angry whenever I got a parking ticket. Back then, a parking ticket cost around £40, which basically meant that my peace was worth £39.99 or less!

If peace is what you want, then you need to make it more important than being right, being on time, or life always going your way. We can get upset because we are stopped at a red light, or get stressed because we have lots of ‘really important things’ to do today. On these days, when life appears to be stealing your serenity, check in on how important your inner peace is. When peace became more valuable to me, I naturally experienced more peace, more often.

2. Befriend Your Feelings

There’s a massive myth about inner peace that makes a lot of people struggle unnecessarily and unintentionally postpone their access to true inner peace. Namely, the belief that we can’t experience inner peace until we have absolutely no ‘negative’ emotions.

I spent the first few decades of my life in a relentless fight with my feelings. I tried to eradicate all of the ‘negative’ ones and only feel positive… and you know what, it was not only exhausting, but it didn’t work! Inner peace eluded me until I discovered it was completely natural, normal and necessary to feel the full spectrum of emotions, and the secret was not to get rid of the negative ones, but to get peace with how I felt.

The truth is you don’t need to get rid of any emotion to experience inner peace. Why? There is a permanent awareness within you which is aware of whatever emotions that may be passing through your body. This awareness is not the emotions, as it is observing it, and this awareness is already, and always, at peace. This means that the awareness which is aware of anxiety, sadness, frustrations, etc. is not anxious, sad or frustrated. By resting back into your inner awareness, which is aware of your feelings, you can experience the peace of your awareness AND the feelings.

Inner peace is not the absence of emotions, but instead, the absence of stress, struggle and suffering. Play with getting ‘peace with your emotions’ and you can discover an inner peace that is untouched by any temporary thought, emotion or life circumstance.

3. Meditate Every Day

It is perhaps unsurprising that my third way to practice peace is to meditate – every day. The primary purposes of meditation are to get yourself back to the present moment and to rediscover and rest into the underlying presence of our ‘being’.

With practice and perseverance, we can discover that our ‘being’ is already at peace. It is the calm contextual landscape within which all thoughts, emotions and life events come… and go. Meditation helps us to stop being so distracted by our mind, senses and circumstances, and hone our attention, so that we can remain attentive to the permanent underlying presence of peace, which resides within us – now and always.

consciously cultivating inner peace

REFLECTING AND RELEASING THE OLD.

As we slowly drift from the warm weather into the more Yin time of year, sometimes our inner “check engine light” turns on, begging us to check in with ourselves, our environment, and more so the peace we long to experience.

In my work with Divine Woman Awakening, Feng Shui and Geomancy & Earth Healing, I have connected various practices and tools that help me consciously cultivate inner peace through release, reflection, boundaries and connection. These are the four pillars of organically cultivating a conscious sense of inner peace through intentionality.

Releasing the Old Feng Shui invites us to let go of what distracts us and what holds us back. These could be old photos of your ex, or a wedding gift that you disliked but kept out of sentiment. I invite you to intentionally declutter; look at the items in your home that currently aren’t relevant to your vision for the future, and let these items go. The same goes for people in your life, relationships you have been holding onto but that you know it is time to let go of. Are you keeping items because they align with you or because they are attached to parts of your past you haven’t let go of yet?

Reflecting and Boundary Building

In the same way that we release, we also need to hold space for ourselves and reflect; both are equally important in order to create space for the new. In the Divine Woman Awakening program, I guide women in building healthy boundaries in their lives to protect their peace, safeguarding them from selfdestructive habits and energy suckers, and more importantly, creating a safe space for themselves. In order to set healthy boundaries, we first need to reflect, pause and analyse what has worked and what can be improved. Once you have had an honest conversation with your soul, you can build the boundaries that your soul has longed for, in order to feel safe and confident. Are there areas in your life where you can set healthy boundaries to prevent your inner peace from being disrupted?

Cyclical Connection

The most important aspect of consciously cultivating inner peace, for me, is connection. This can be the connection to self, to Mother Nature and to the collective consciousness. The simplest way to sustain the connection is by spending time with Mother Nature. Take a walk, lay on the earth, bring her offerings and commune with her. Allow yourself to reflect on

changes in nature and be intentional about it, watch the leaves fall down and the earth shedding herself from the bounty, slowly preparing for cosmic hibernation. Our inner worlds require the same element of release, where we let go of what we have been carrying around and open ourselves up to guidance, softness and the quiet. Oftentimes it is in the quiet where we can focus on the underlying wounds that need tending to. When we connect deeply with Nature, the other three pillars of Inner Peace easily fall into place, because when we follow Mother Nature’s Seasons, we are intentionally following the cycle of Release, Reflect and Boundaries.

Do you feel disconnected and desensitised to your environment, or misaligned because you haven’t made time to deeply and intentionally connect with Gaia?

Listen to the whispers of your soul, it knows what it needs. By focusing on release and reflecting on what is necessary and what needs to be released or protected, you are nurturing your soul and guiding your spirit to wholeness and fulfillment, which leads to the consistent cultivation of the inner peace you have been longing for.

the storm the calm after

CYCLES OF PEACE AND CHAOS.

I would say this subject is difficult for me, because I somewhat feel that inner peace comes with experience. It’s something that is earned, you don’t just have it. I feel like when you are young you let things around you infiltrate your mind, so many things are changing, you don’t really know who you are or what you’re doing, so it can cause a bit of chaos in your mind. So, instead of talking about how I’ve achieved inner peace (because let’s be real, I’m twenty, I haven’t come that far on my spiritual journey), I’m going to talk about specific situations where I’ve had inner peace and how I plan to achieve inner peace in the future.

To start off, I’ll say that whenever I am in a situation that is not meant for me, my body never fails to let me know. I truly believe that this is my spirit’s way of pushing me into a state of anxiousness, to then eventually lead me closer to peace. The only way I can describe it is a feeling of intense discomfort... until I make the right decision. Each time I have listened to what my body has been telling me, and made a big change in my life, my brain has immediately followed with silence.

For instance, when I got into college last year I knew as soon as I got there that it wasn’t for me. That to me was so scary, because I have always been a person that follows a safe route. However, when I tried to deny what was going on, my body and mind was sent into a sort of depressive state. I reverted back to panicking in social

situations and everything made me feel a sense of dread. It was getting to the stage where I felt like a kid again - alone and unable to control my emotions. I truly believe this is because my spirit was telling me that this path isn’t for me. So, I decided to leave. I wanted to follow a script of my life and do everything perfectly; yet once I let go of this expectation I was at peace with myself. Now this doesn’t mean that because I dropped out I developed inner peace. It means I’m at peace with a more uncertain future for myself. I think that’s something that I’m meant to experience and, even though I know it might be a harder life, it’s a hardship that will eventually bring me peace - and I’m ok with that.

I think the key to peace is letting go of things, whether that be expectations of yourself, or your past, or things that don’t serve you anymore. I think, in a way, scars create peace; the most spiritual people are those that have been through suffering. The phrase “the calm before the storm” can be flipped on its head to be “the calm after the storm”, meaning peace follows a cycle. So, if you feel a moment of chaos coming around, remember that it’s not long until bliss follows.

knowing true

Prem Rawat is an Indian international speaker, peace educator and author. His most recent contribution to the written word is his highly acclaimed book entitled, ‘Hear Yourself’

Prem Rawat took a “little break” with us recently. It was a reminder to me to more regularly take a break from riding the wheel of Time, allow the mind space to roam into deeper terrain and perhaps find some new direction when stepping back into the current of life.

“Really, this is about taking a little break. And in this little break, to understand what this life is all about. Not from the day you were born to the day you’re going to go – but the fact that you are alive, and what does that mean? To you? – as a human being? Not as a bird, not as a crocodile…”

DE-FAMILIARISE YOURSELF

Part of the power of Prem’s discourse lies in the process his words take us through - a process formally known as ‘de-familiarisation’. He extracts us, with his words and questions, from our so-closewe-cannot-see-it connection to our daily life. It’s a ‘can’t see the woods from the trees’ type situation that we so easily slip into with the daily shape of our existence. Prem Rawat’s discourse however, has a magical quality of suddenly lifting us up and above, out and beyond, so that we SEE;

“You’re here! You exist! And this is the only thing that has been constant since you were born – existence…There was a time you couldn’t walk. There was a time you couldn’t speak. You had to learn that. There was a time you couldn’t even drink soft drinks; you made bad faces at it. But

then you slowly learned how to tolerate them. You didn’t even know who your relatives were; they were taught to you, “Oh, that’s so-and-so and that’s so-and-so… But through it all, you have existed. And so, what does it mean to exist?”

Can you feel it? The space that is created, the wonder, the curiosity that starts to grow as we begin simply to notice the nature of things... Being a parent to a young child brings this into focus almost every day. My toddler often asks me, “What makes us get old, mammy?” “Time...”, begins my answer, and every time I say it I have a moment of awe at the nature of time and my inability to properly explain such a mystery of Life.

REVERSE INDOCTRINATION

Once we enter this space beyond our familiar connection with things, we have the potential to change our minds. To create new connections with life. We can do this again and again, as many times as we so wish.

Yourself’.... the noise that deafens you –between the ears. The noise – that some people might call “indoctrination.” And it’s very curious when you look at the meaning of indoctrination; “Something is said to you again and again and again and again till you believe it. Till you believe it” – not know it, believe it. And this sound echoes between the ears, “This is how it is. This is how the world is. This is who I am. This is who that person is, and this is who that person is.”

“And my purpose here is not to indoctrinate you. Quite the reverse; I want to reverse indoctrinate and I want to make not a believer out of you, but a knower... I want you to know! Not believe – I want you to know...This is not about a lecture. This is about a reality of existence.”

‘KNOW THYSELF’

Knowing, in Prem Rawat’s meaning, is first-hand experience. Not what we have read, been taught or told, but rather primary, direct experience, through one or more of our five senses, with the object we wish to know.

The ‘thing’ which we are closest to, the ‘thing’ through which we know the world, and thus we must first explore and discover, is our Self.

Prem Rawat declares that this is his intention. To encourage and enable his listeners and readers to know Life for themselves, with eyes wide open, rather than continue to live in hand-me-down connections to, and beliefs about, life and self.

“So, here I am – with this book, ‘Hear

Socrates, an ancient Greek philosopher known as the ‘Father of Western Philosophy’ wrote, “To know thyself is the beginning of wisdom.” Prem Rawat’s message echoes along this vein of timeless wisdom. His words carry an energy which shocks us out of our complacency, and inject us with a determination to know.

“When does it matter to you – that you feel, not occasionally, but feel real peace in your life? That you are awakened to the

possibility of understanding the value of this breath? Not somebody’s theory. You.”

As a former student of philosophy, I know that when you give yourself to this process, life changes forever. Immediately after my degree, I spent the next two years in another country attending yoga and meditation training at an ashram. I wanted direct experience. I wanted to know the vehicle I was in and come face to face with the unique perspective and prism towards life that is ‘me’. It was the most meaningful, challenging and illuminating time of my life. Prem Rawat inspires people along this journey, and with humour to boot:

“...life is yours. The Divine has chosen to keep company with you! Do you want to give attention to that? At all? Or are you too perplexed with everything else that’s going on in your life?”

“Every single human being, whether you have the capacity to fly an airplane... whether you have a capacity to sail a sailboat – you have the capacity to experience the Divine. It doesn’t matter who you are. And that’s powerful.”

“ENTER THE WORLD OF THE DIVINE”

Along the journey Prem Rawat describes how realising all the things about yourself, other and the world which you have been told and believe - rather than feel and know - leads us to turn inward, to the source of feeling and knowing which is the Self.

On this inward journey we discover the breath, our energy body, and so much more. The deeper we go, the closer we get to an experience of the Divine spark at the creative core of our being.

“It is when the lips are closed, and the attention is to the inside, the heart is open, that Divine love begins to flow. And when it does, it’s like a rain. And then it begins to rain. And when it does, every fibre of a being is drenched in that love.”

“...some people struggle with that idea. “If the Divine is in me, how come I don’t feel it?” This is what they say. “If the Divine is in me, well, how come I don’t feel it?” Because all you have done – is identified the Divine with your ideas, not with the Divine. The day ideas don’t matter to you, you will feel the Divine. The day that my tongue has no words for that love, I will be talking about the real love.”

TRANQUILITY, BALANCE AND CONTENTMENT IN UNEXPECTED PLACES.

POSITIVE TANTRA 24

Sometimes the tranquility and connectedness that accompany inner peace appear in the least expected places.

I certainly wasn’t expecting to feel expansive, inspired and deeply content while visiting my dad this summer, yet I did. You should know my dad is one of the most well-read, stubborn, generous, selfcentered, loving, exasperating, captivating men I’ve ever met. And I adore him.

After a successful career and some golden years spent playing golf, he recently made the move back to the Appalachian foothills, not too far from where he grew up. Something about helping him get settled, scheduling doctors’ appointments, resetting passwords and sitting on the back porch watching his tomato plants grow, was deeply grounding; and inner peace, it seemed, was everywhere.

The Party Line On Inner Peace

If it’s been a while since you’ve experienced inner peace, here’s a little refresher.

Inner peace is intimately connected to our senses. It’s a deep connection with the world, ourselves and each other that is often experienced as tranquility, balance and contentment. When we bring focus to our senses we access a part of ourselves that is often disconnected from the world around us.

This means inner peace doesn’t just feel good, it’s an experience of being present. An experience that spills over into our relationships creating expansive connection and stabilising resilience.

However, inner peace is more than the absence of stress or challenges; it is the clarity, optimism, patience and composure that makes it possible to work through challenges without feeling overwhelmed or coming unraveled. (Insert stubborn, aging parent here.)

Red Clay Dirt

I love the Appalachian Mountains. The red clay dirt, honeysuckle vines, thunderstorms, fireflies and cicadas. I was born here. It’s a place that feels unrushed, simple and welcoming. The evening I arrived, as soon as the fireflies appeared, bobbing above the grass, my brain stopped. The me that lives somewhere deep inside of me woke up.

I was home. The Primary Source

Tension I hadn’t even noticed I’d been carrying fell away from my body. I felt weightless, lighter, alert. And I began to recognise “home” everywhere.

Home was the fireflies doing their mating dance, the shadows the clouds made as they slid across the moon, the smell of morning when the sun begins to warm the red clay dirt. The sound of lawn mowers and screen doors slamming. The sensation of ice and sugar in my mouth while drinking good, strong, sweet tea. And while all the sensations were different, they all led back to one feeling - a feeling of connectedness.

Which reminds me.

Ancient Greek philosopher, Thales of Miletus, considered one of the earliest and most influential Pre-Socratic philosophers, presented the concept of a single, fundamental substance that constitutes the basis of all things in the universe. Thales believed this substance was the primary source from which everything else emerged. This is exactly what I was feeling. And it made me wonder if inner peace was really just another word for being connected to that primary source.

Underneath his stories and his ponderings about the attractive lady who lived across the hall, was my dad. The dad I’ve always known and loved.

The Big City

I live in the big city now. I love it too. The intensity, the new ideas, the synergy. I love the people and the positivity and the way everyone lifts everyone up. I feel as though anything is possible when I’m here.

Yet, I sometimes struggle with making that transition from my mind to my senses. I get caught up in strategising and forecasting and creating. My calendar fills with irresistible opportunities. And, I sometimes forget to take time to remember.

Always Home

And then I do.

When I got back to the big city after spending time with my dad, I began to notice the same stillness and calm here, everywhere. All I needed to do was make a small shift from my head to my heart and I discovered inner peace was right here, waiting for me.

The thing is, the big city originated from that one primary source too.

No more feeling homesick. (At least not so much.) This summer I realised that home, and the inner peace that comes with it, is everywhere.

A Born Romantic

Dad was another situation all together (I mean, seriously, how many passwords can one man forget? Answer: All of them.) Two steps forward, one step back. Getting my dad’s accounts and appointments sorted was excruciating. Mostly because we kept veering off topic to talk about my dad’s latest crush. What can I say, the man loves the ladies. He’s a born romantic.

What was astonishing was, the feelings of tranquility and connectedness

I’d been experiencing were strained, but never vanished, even when resetting passwords. And the more I opened my ears (and my heart) to really listen to my dad, the more I began to feel that familiar feeling, not just with him - because of him.

“Inner peace is intimately connected to our senses”

We are all aware that there are a few ascended masters among us that have found a state of perpetual inner peace, but let’s be honest, the majority of us are not quite there yet. Wouldn’t it be great to attain this constant state?

It’s quite literally impossible to maintain this condition while our bodies are vibrating within a third dimensional state of existence. Why? Because we must experience the law of polarity in order to distinguish between the pair of opposites; in other words, we must know inner turmoil if we are to understand inner peace. Much like you cannot know cold if you have never experienced hot.

I believe our evolutionary path is to experience the duality and trust that a greater power is pulling us closer to a state of balancing the opposites and then transcending these states where we can prolong a state of inner peace. Is this a return to the authentic state? Is it the yellow brick road to our heart’s ultimate calling?

We are so conditioned to reside in states of fear, chaos, lack and sickness that maintaining inner peace can be difficult

inner peace

FINDING THE BALANCE.

to hold on to. We grasp moments of it when we look into the eyes of someone we are in love with, where words are not even needed. Maybe your inner peace is in a simple cup of tea or a walk in nature. Yet the constant bombardment of negativity drags us backwards.

Maybe inner peace is more simple than we think and our constant striving for it is in fact pushing it further away. This is where staying fully within every present moment is a gift, hence why it’s called ‘present’.

We tend to beat ourselves up if we are not in more positive states and it ultimately leads to more suffering; if we could just ride the waves as they arise.

Imagine for a moment that your body is a vehicle in which the soul is residing and it wishes to experience life through the senses of your body and it is playing this game of life. Trust that your soul, with help from a source of divine power, is working it all out in your favour to lead you to the ultimate state of inner peace. If you know it’s all just going to work out perfectly, then you would sit back and enjoy the show, wouldn’t you?

I found inner peace when I decided not to let outer circumstances dictate my inner state. I let go of my need to be understood or right and I forgave those that hurt me, knowing they were part of my soul’s lessons. You don’t have to forget and you can create a healthy boundary. Remember that choosing to forgive saves you and puts you in control of your state of being. It is a key to finding a state of inner peace. This is the way of Yeshua.

an inside-out world

The point of power is within each and every one of us, and therefore your life is not determined by the circumstances or conditions outside of you. I have been in many rooms over the years where this sentence alone has been debated, expanded upon and contemplated deeply. I believe that when it’s stormy inside, you will experience storms in your daily experience. Think about it; if you are in a great mood and someone cuts you off in traffic, you are more likely to let it go or think, ‘Gosh, they must be in a hurry. I hope everything is ok’. But if you are in a bad mood and someone cuts you off, your reaction is very different. You generally tend to curse and get really annoyed and irritated. Our responses tend to be tied to how much space we have to hold each experience.

In today’s world, our space can feel limited as we live in a hustle culture, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed and depleted most of the time. When we live this way, we feel like time is always against us, and we can never catch up with an endless to-do list that just keeps growing. When I talk about space, I mean the personal space we create within us. When we give to ourselves, we get our lives back, and there are so many amazing ways

to give to yourself, including meditation, breathwork, prayer and being in nature.

Many years ago, my Buddhist teacher asked me to practice meditation for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening every day. In my mind, he had just asked me to meditate all day, every day. My mind spun into stories of busyness and his insane expectation of me. Like any great teacher, he knew that it was only through experience that change would happen from within. So, I agreed, and during week one, I showed up but reluctantly, as part of me wanted to prove him wrong. Then in week two, something magical began to happen, and I felt more creative, expansive and in flow. By week three, I was sleeping better, felt like I had way more time and really began to understand what he was teaching me. I have never forgotten that deep lesson, and now I prioritise creating space in my life every day. When you do this, you begin to create a deep sense of connection and inner peace that we all long for and desire. Here are some of my top tips for cultivating inner peace:

1. Start your day with peace and calm, whether it’s a quiet cup of tea, a meditation, prayer, setting a heart-centred intention or, like me, getting out for a nice long walk in nature with the dog. Starting your day with calm creates a beautiful, energetic foundation for the day ahead.

2. Take mini mindful moments throughout your day. This is one of my favorites and really works. Every hour or two, I spend three minutes in meditation.

3. Gratitude shifts your focus to what’s working instead of what’s lacking. Take time to notice all the beautiful things in life you have to be grateful for.

4. Schedule worry! This is a gamechanger. Worry is a habit, and it takes up an enormous amount of energy and headspace. I actually schedule worry into my calendar, and then what I often find is that when my scheduled worry time comes, most of the things I was worried about have disappeared.

5. Invite in Grace. During my morning prayers, I invite grace into my life and trust me, when you begin to live this way, it brings a beautiful quality of space, presence and beauty into your life.

6. Scan through your day as you lie in bed in the evening. Look at what did not go well, learn from it and then decide to let it go. The energy you go to sleep in is the energy you wake up in. Hold the intention to sleep peacefully and wake up with a heart full of gratitude, ready for a new day.

Your inner peace is up to you, and although life events and experiences will continue to happen, it’s always up to you HOW you respond. We learn to respond by showing up, doing the work, creating space and practicing the pause. Remember that it’s in the small moments that the patterns of our life are created, and each moment plays an important role in the story of your life. Is your story called ‘Stress and Mess’ or ‘Peace and Prosperity’? The choice, well, that’s up to you…

The recent pace of change has been overwhelming. With the escalation of climate and ecological breakdown, economic instability, heightened anxiety and escalating costs, this moment of our species’ history is undoubtedly a very ‘interesting time’ to be alive. Brace yourself - the waves are getting bigger.

The term ‘polycrises’, introduced by philosopher Edgar Morin in the 1990s, captures the intricate web of challenges we confront today. Morin recognised that these crises are not isolated; addressing them demands a perspective that values complexity, interdependence and cooperation.

One of the issues intensifying our problems today is the crisis of imagination; we struggle to envision a different future. While numerous dangers lie ahead, innovative approaches are emerging that could help us to cope with adversity, and surf these waves of change.

The future is something that we are all co-creating. It’s an ongoing process in which everyone has a role to play. Playing that part well depends on our capacity to access our inner qualities - mindfulness, empathy, creativity and resilience.

A pioneering new framework, ‘The ‘Inner Development Goals’ (IDGs), has been created to harness the potential of personal

transformation as the basis to tackle the urgent challenges currently confronting humanity.

Rooted in five dimensions, Being, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating and Acting, the IDGs weave together twentythree skills and qualities that can empower us to navigate the complexities of our interconnected world.

At the core of the IDGs is the dimension of ‘Being’; the skills to cultivate inner awareness and deepen our relationship with our thoughts and emotions. Proposed is the nurturing of a robust sense of responsibility, commitment to the collective good, and a systemic perspective. Maintaining an inner practice helps us to remain present, achieve equilibrium, and act with integrity and authenticity.

As many of the difficulties we face ultimately stem from the human mind, the ‘Thinking’ dimension of the IDGs focuses on developing capacities in complexity awareness, sense-making, and our ability to take longer-term perspectives.

With the urgent need for increased solidarity, the ‘Relating’ dimension of the IDGs is critical.

This involves ways of interacting with others and the world from a place of appreciation, gratitude and joy, while

cultivating qualities such as curiosity, empathy and compassion.

The ‘Collaborating’ dimension advocates for developing social skills that help us embrace difference, allowing us to genuinely listen to and understand others, especially people that hold different perspectives. Undoubtedly, fostering trust, intercultural competence, the skill to facilitate inclusive dialogue and the ability to manage conflict will be valuable in navigating change.

In a world of uncertainty, the ‘Acting’ dimension of the IDGs provides momentum for transformation. Enhancing our capacity to work together and maintaining both courage and an unwavering perseverance will be essential. By embracing the qualities and practices outlined in the IDGs and committing ourselves to the necessary inner work, we will enhance our ability to surf the disruptive waves ahead and be more capable of actively living a profoundly different future, one that emphasises connection, regeneration, and values life over profit... Go for it! Surf those Waves.

microbiome the gut

When you hear the words inner peace, what do you think of? I know my mind instantly goes to meditation, yoga, and other mindfulness practices that can help us navigate our hardly harmonious world with a little more grace. If you’re reading this and are in the spiritual community, these are likely the very practices you turn to when your inner world becomes off-kilter.

While having a spiritual practice is undeniably helpful, it is only one half of the equation when it comes to our long-term well-being. As publisher Paul Congdon says, the gut microbiome—a community of microorganisms inhabiting our digestive tract—is really the physical counterpart to our spiritual alignment. As we continue to learn more about the inextricable link between this incredible microbiome and our human moods and behaviours, the cliché “you are what you eat” takes on a whole new meaning.

THE FOUNDATION OF WELLNESS

From a young age, most of us learned that we need to eat certain foods to stay healthy, but did you know that a healthy microbiome is required before healthy foods can be of any use to us? According to Dr Erika Ebbel Angle, a well-functioning microbiome is needed “to take things in, to digest them, and to spit out other molecules that are really important to your health.”

Eating a poor diet not only prevents us from getting the nutrients we need to stay healthy but also can cause damage and

change the entire composition of our gut microbiome so that it can no longer break down nutrients properly.

Erika explains that diversity is crucial in the gut, and if someone was only eating foods high in fat, for example, they could end up with a skewed ratio of bacteria. The bacteria designed to break down foods high in fat will eventually outcompete the other types, leading to an “unhealthy, not diverse set of bacteria in your gut.”

While this is reversible, rebuilding the microbiome takes a lot of time and energy, so it is best to maintain this foundation from the start.

AN ASEPTIC SOCIETY

So, do we all have a level playing field regarding gut health when we come into this world? Paul asked Donna Schwenk, author and founder of Cultured Food Life, this question in an interview, and she explained that it depends on the bacteria our mother had.

Bifidobacteria are the main bacteria we receive from our mother at birth to govern our immune system and feed all the other bacteria. However, Donna notes that we used to get all kinds of different strains of bacteria from our mothers, like Limosilactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri), a type of probiotic, before we all started taking antibiotics.

Sinead FitzGerald, owner of HappyTummy., helps people rebuild this crucial bacteria by providing BioGaia probiotics for all ages. It’s important to note that different strains of L. reuteri may have different outcomes; for example, DSM17983 and ATCC PTA 6475, the strains in BioGaia, produce antimicrobial substances “which can inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and support a healthy microbial balance in the gut.”

Unfortunately, many things considered normal in our modern lifestyle counteract a balanced gut. “Every time you take an antibiotic, you wipe your gut microbiome,” Erika warns us. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, not just the harmful types, and sometimes, the microbiome never rebuilds correctly.

Our well-being is also suffering because we now live in a highly aseptic society, which decreases the diversity of bacteria in the gut. As Erika points out, kids used to spend hours outside playing in the dirt in the past, but today, most children just sit inside looking at screens.

A lot of diseases, like autism and ADHD, are now being linked to a lack of diversity in the gut, Erika says. Research also shows that missing gut bacteria is the

cause of many food allergies.

THE GUT-BRAIN AXIS

According to the Purina Institute, “the term ‘gut-brain axis’ refers to the constant bidirectional communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain.”

“The idea that the gut influences the brain, and therefore also behaviour, is widely understood and accepted”, as reflected in our daily language—we’ve all had a “gut feeling” before or experienced “butterflies in the stomach”.

While we’re aware of what we’re thinking and feeling (most of the time),

we have little to no idea about what’s happening in our gastrointestinal tract. Yet, as accruing evidence suggests, they are inextricably connected in a way that we might compare to our soul or subconscious and conscious mind. While we can’t consciously fathom everything our subconscious or higher self knows, it nevertheless guides us and does its best to protect us at every step.

PSYCHOBIOTIC BEINGS

In a 2017 publication, John F. Cryan and Ted Dinan, UCC professors of neuroscience and psychiatry, respectively,

along with journalist Scott C. Anderson, explored how brain health relates to the gut microbiome. In particular, they wanted to determine if a psychobiotic diet can improve stress, depression, and anxiety.

Cryan defines the term “psychobiotic diet” as “a way of describing eating for the microbiome to support mental health.” This diet includes whole grains, prebiotic fruits and vegetables (sources of indigestible fibre), fermented foods, and legumes like dried peas, beans, and lentils.

After conducting a 4-week study

“…she could never have imagined that the answer would be microbes sitting on her counter making her food…”

involving 45 healthy adults split into two groups, the researchers concluded that “those who followed the psychobiotic diet had a 32% reduction in perceived stress. This reduction occurred despite no change in the participants’ everyday pressures”. They also found that “higher adherence to the diet resulted in stronger decreases in perceived stress.”

While everyone’s microbiome is different, the research shows that eating these foods will undoubtedly benefit the gut and may reduce stress levels, increasing our potential for inner peace.

Donna shares that some psychiatrists give their patients probiotics instead of antibiotics to help their mood, suggesting we are moving towards probiotics as a mainstream treatment.

In the words of Probiotic pioneer Natasha Trenev, “Probiotics will be to medicine in the 21st century as antibiotics and microbiology were in the 20th century.”

LESS STRESS

Another study out of Oxford University led by Dr Drew Ramsey, also investigating how diet affects mood and behaviour, was done with prison inmates who were split into two groups.

The first group took vitamin supplements, and the second ate a diet consisting of junk food. Unsurprisingly, the behaviour of the people in the first group became much calmer and less aggressive.

According to Nutritionist Nicolette Pace, “Deficiencies in nutrients, magnesium or manganese, vitamin C, or some B vitamins may make a person hyperactive towards a stressor, a short fuse so to speak. Junk food doesn’t give your body what you need to cope with day-today stresses.”

From this research, Donna concludes that anything we can do to help our body absorb more nutrients, such as getting more good bacteria into our gut, will improve our emotional state. She also has countless heartwarming examples to back it up from her own life, some of which she shared with us.

THE CYCLE OF GOODNESS

At the beginning of the interview, Donna made a powerful statement: “I didn’t understand that I felt so bad till I felt so good.” It’s sad but true; most of us have become accustomed to living in a less-than-optimal state of being, using addictive substances or self-discipline to

keep us going.

However, since making cultured foods a part of her everyday life, Donna assures us that true well-being is sustainable and self-replenishing.

“I had the wrong things going on in my gut, and once that got restored, everything was better. The grass was greener. The birds were singing.”

We know that L. reuteri also releases oxytocin (the love hormone) from the human brain, which could help us fall back in love with life as Donna did.

After a month of drinking kefir daily, she naturally started caring more about the things and beings around her. She recounts the charming story of how, once she started feeling better, she had the sudden urge to fill up all her birdfeeders with food. Weeks before, she didn’t care, thinking the birds should fend for themselves.

“I felt so good that I wanted everybody to feel that way,” she remembers, which is why she got her family on board with fermented foods.

After they had been eating L. Reuteri Superfood Yogurt for a month, she could see the oxytocin in action:

“My husband was in the kitchen one day and dropped and shattered an entire glass jug of tea on the floor, shrugged his shoulders, laughed, said, ‘Oh well’, and then proceeded to tell me how great I looked that day without losing a beat over the mess he had to clean up. I can tell everybody is feeling better and the best part — everybody is helping me clean up after themselves after years of asking to do so.”

OUR INNER ARMY

Once you start feeling better, that momentum will just keep going, and it begins with feeding our microbiome—the physical centre of inner peace.

As Cryan says, “We’re not eating for ourselves, we’re eating for the microbiome in our gut.”

We consist of 100 trillion bacteria, which is ten times the body’s cells, and the even more amazing thing is they are all there to take care of us.

Once you build up your bacteria, “they will work mightily on your behalf in every way,” Donna says, comparing them to a little army within us.

If we get a pathogen or a virus, for example, our body launches an attack against it using helper T cells.

“The way you determine how many T cells you have that identify foreign

invaders in your body is by how much good bacteria you have, and the more good bacteria you have, the more T cells you have that fight infections and pathogens and viruses and things that come into your body that are foreign.”

Donna even calls her microbes her “brothers in arms”, as she knows they are constantly having battles inside of her in their fight for wellness.

CONSCIOUSNESS WITHIN CONSCIOUSNESS

When asked if she feels there is a spiritual component to the microbiome, Donna shared her belief that it has a consciousness.

“I think that the cells of our body and all of our microbes are little consciousnesses that are helping us.”

Similar to the relationship many of us have with our spirit guides, we can’t know what our bacteria are doing behind the scenes, but we can trust that they are working on our behalf.

As Donna says, the earth spins in its orbit perfectly, yet if we were a little closer to the sun or farther away from it, we’d die.

Something outside of our awareness is governing our biological systems, keeping everything in balance on our behalf, and if you ask me, that’s pretty magical.

Despite the demonisation of bacteria in our society, 99% of the bacteria in our body are good, “…unless you screw it up,” Donna laughs.

Our natural state of being and birthright is inner peace—we know this in the spiritual community. Yet, when we come into this physical plain, our innate sense of well-being is easily overridden. Just as many of us have been working on feeding our minds with goodness, we must now do the same with our gut.

REBUILDING THE BASICS

You’ll be happy to know that Donna’s solution to resetting the microbiome is surprisingly simple and delicious. While many different recipes and products are available on her website, Cultured Food Life, she suggests starting with a kefir smoothie if you are looking for a fast and easy way to rebuild your microbiome.

This smoothie takes five minutes to make and contains only five ingredients: kefir (dairy or non-dairy), HMOs, Simple Reds (a powder made from crushed berries), frozen fruit and orange juice.

Donna says HMOs, which simulate

human milk, are a game-changer. They rebuild Bifidobacteria in two to four weeks, keeping us young and preventing us from getting sick. Even better, once you build up your Bifidobacteria, it feeds all the other bacteria, and other bacteria feed that bacteria.

Apple peel powder, for example, which you can add to your smoothie, feeds Bifidobacteria as well as Akkermansia muciniphila, which helps with weight control and blood sugar.

When we start practising better ways of thinking, it requires a bit of effort initially, but after a while, we naturally reach for more positive thoughts and perspectives. Similarly, once you’ve reset your gut microbes, they’ll help you crave the foods your body actually wants.

Donna explains that even if you try to introduce the harmful foods again, your body will reject them by giving you a rash or something. In this way, living a psychobiotic lifestyle is effortless, especially when there are so many delicious gut-healthy foods to choose from, each with its own unique benefits.

KEFIR & KOMBUCHA

Kefir has over 50 strains of probiotics, which is more than any other cultured food, and has nineteen anti-inflammatory properties. Donna has been drinking it for 23 years and can’t go without it now.

“I’ll start to get colds and flus that I don’t ever get. I will start to have less energy. I’ll be more agitated, and I’ll start to gain weight. Those are the things that happen to me when I get off kefir.”

If you have a problem with dairy, Donna says not to worry, as water-based kefir works well too. There are 16 non-dairy kefirs available on her website, ranging from watery to thicker consistencies.

Still, she wants us to know that “honestly, dairy and fermented dairy are two different foods.”

When you ferment the milk, you take out all the lactose, so it’s 99.9% lactose-free and contains vitamin C, which you wouldn’t usually get in regular pasteurised milk unless it’s raw.

If you’re thinking of trying it out, we also have our very own fantastic kefir here in Kerry. I just ordered some from the lovely Mary-Thea, owner of Kerry Kefir, and can’t wait to try it!

Kombucha is another fabulous cultured drink with unique benefits, such as detoxing the body, aiding joints, and powerfully assisting the liver.

It also contains a very special

probiotic yeast called Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii), which makes pathogens in the body think it’s a friend when it’s a foe.

S. boulardii attracts the pathogens, steals all their metabolites so they can’t have any food and then leaves the body about four to five days after you’ve been drinking it for a couple of days, taking those pathogens with it. Talk about a successful undercover operation!

PROBIOTICS VS PREBIOTICS

From Donna’s stories, it is clear that consuming probiotic foods like kefir, kombucha, yoghurt and cultured vegetables can change lives. They are more effective than taking pills, which often get trapped in our stomach acids, meaning “the probiotics are killed before the body ever gets a chance to use them.”

However, the lesser-known prebiotics are equally important for fostering a peaceful gut.

According to Holland & Barret, “Prebiotics provide probiotics (our friendly gut bacteria) with the fuel – mainly carbohydrates and plant fibres – that they need to do their job.”

You can get them from fruits, vegetables, juices, seeds, nuts and resistance starch, which is found in potatoes, rice and tubers once they have cooled. Donna suggests eating sushi or potato salad, for example.

“Once it’s cooked and cooled, it stops becoming a sugar molecule to raise your blood sugar. It becomes a resistance starch which feeds your microbiome, and it resists digestion. So, you don’t really get the calories from it like you would if it was warm because the resistance starch has taken over, and that feeds your microbiome, and it is very powerful.”

TRUST YOUR GUT

Donna’s favourite quote is “What you seek is seeking you” by Rumi, and looking back at her journey with cultured foods, she has never been more sure of its truth.

Twenty-three years ago, having just given birth and suffering from high blood pressure and blood sugar, she had no idea how she would be well enough to care for her daughter.

All she could do was affirm and pray every day that she would find an answer, and one day she did.

She recalls the auspicious moment she first discovered kefir in a health food store. She sat down to read two books and opened the first on a page about kefir.

When the second one also opened on a page about kefir, she couldn’t believe it.

A store employee saw her reading the book, stood directly before her, and said, “That’s the most important book you’ll ever read. You should really pay attention.” Then he just walked away, she remembers.

Though she could never have imagined that the answer would be microbes sitting on her counter making her food, they are what lifted her up physically, emotionally and spiritually.

When we listen to our bodies and establish peace within them, there is no telling what goodness will flow from us and to us. If you’re ready to begin your journey with cultured foods, Donna recommends starting with what most interests you because if you’re attracted to it, you probably need it!

spreading healing and care

THE HEART-WARMING JOURNEY OF A GROUP OF NEWLY REGISTERED HOMEOPATHS.

This summer marked a huge milestone as this group of dedicated individuals completed their training in holistic healing through the Irish School of Homeopathy. These graduates are now embarking on their journeys as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) health professionals in Ireland, Europe and the US and look forward to making this highly effective, traditional, complementary modality available for everyone.

“Homeopathy? What’s that?” is the most frequently asked question, according to these newly registered homeopaths from the Irish School of Homeopathy. Homeopathy, they explain, is a healing philosophy that honours the body’s innate wisdom, viewing symptoms of illness as expressions of inner imbalances. Unlike conventional medicine, homeopathy offers a gentle, person-centred approach that focuses on restoring overall well-being rather than merely treating diseases.

All of these graduates have their unique story with strong reasons as to why they became homeopaths. The common

motivation is that they all sought gentle but effective alternative healthcare solutions for themselves and their loved ones. They wanted to find a way that emphasised qualities of compassion and individualised care. Here is one graduate’s story:

“I became a homeopath due to my son’s challenges. His escalating tantrums and developmental issues pushed me to shift my perspective on health. He was non-verbal, struggling with night terrors, and had a limited diet. Desperate for a solution I attended a homeopath and within a few months saw rapid transformation leading to a much healthier child. Curious, I attended a 1-day course at The Irish School of Homeopathy which was the start of my

journey.”

The Irish School of Homeopathy established in 1989 is one of the longestestablished homeopathy colleges in Europe, and indeed the world. The School has nurtured countless students, equipping them with a deep understanding of Homeopathy. It has a great reputation both in Ireland and abroad for the excellence of the core team of highly experienced lecturers, who are dedicated to sharing their expertise.

The courses they provide range from the 1-Day Online Workshop, the 5-Day Home Prescriber’s Course, the 1-Year Foundation Course through to the comprehensive and fully accredited 4-Year Professional Course. These courses all share a commitment to holistic education that goes beyond theoretical learning. The 1-Day Workshop is held monthly online. The 5-Day Home Prescriber’s Course is also held online, while the Foundation and Professional Courses are held face-to-face while also being available live online to provide a hybrid learning environment.

36
POSITIVE THERAPY
“...it’s about joining a community of likeminded individuals who share a passion for healing.”

The 1-Year Foundation Course provides a comprehensive syllabus to equip you with essential knowledge and skills, allowing exploration of your interest in homeopathy. For those seeking a professional qualification, the 4-year Professional Course, from which these accomplished homeopaths have qualified, goes beyond teaching the principles of homeopathy. It embraces a holistic approach and includes many other vital aspects like Nutrition guidance and Counselling skills. These elements make the course unique and enrich the practitioner’s ability to offer comprehensive care. The course is fully accredited by The Irish Society of Homeopaths, underscoring its professional quality and commitment to excellence.

Enrolling at the Irish School of Homeopathy means more than just gaining academic knowledge - it’s about joining a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for healing. The nurturing environment encourages collaborative

learning and personal growth. Graduates attest to the transformative experience that not only empowers them to help others but also fosters their own healing journeys:

“Once you experience the freedom, empathy and support that the school offers, you will want to immerse yourself in this new learning environment. It provides an inspiring, nurturing and empowering approach to adult education, which is refreshing in its collaborative rather than top-down approach.”

These newly graduated homeopaths have undergone comprehensive training, including many dedicated hours practising under supervision, equipping them with the skills to provide effective alternative healthcare solutions. Their dedication, passion and experience make them an excellent choice for anyone seeking holistic health practices. These professionals, with over four years of intensive training, are ready to embrace their roles with empathy, understanding and a profound belief in the body’s capacity to heal. Many of these graduates have previous training in other

modalities. This means you not only benefit from homeopathy but other therapies also.

So, if you are seeking a healing approach that respects individuality and values compassionate care, please get in touch. Their clinics are located all around Ireland and America and the availability of Zoom has expanded this geography even further. The group are eager to share their expertise, offering consultations in person or via Zoom for your convenience. Whether you’re interested in exploring holistic healing or connecting with a dedicated homeopath, the warmth and dedication of these professionals will leave a positive impact on your well-being.

gardening for peace the Power of Community Gardens

GROW

TOGETHER – EAT WELL – BE WELL!

I still vividly remember meeting Michelle Share and Dr. Prannie Rhatigan from the then NWHB in October of 2003, who wanted to improve the national Cardio-Vascular Strategy. Their question was how to increase knowledge, awareness and skills among target groups in relation to fruit and vegetable production, preparation and consumption and to promote positive health and well-being. My answer was the Community Food Project organised by The Organic Centre.

The concept was simple: A garden, participants, an experienced gardener and a small budget. The aim was: Grow together – eat well – be well! All community gardens established as part of that project are still around and growing. A few years later the project was extended to Northern Ireland under the title “Building peace through our shared environment”, where people from the South and North and from different political and religious backgrounds came together to grow food and organise harvest festivals.

A national Network of Community Gardens

At the GIY gathering in Waterford in 2011 the idea of a national network was suggested and Community Gardens Ireland (CGI) was established. The Vision statement was:

“That social community garden

spaces are created in every village, town and city in Ireland and Northern Ireland, creating opportunities to empower local communities and provide outdoor environmental places of education where people of all ages, genders, nationalities and socio-economic backgrounds can learn about gardening, food growing and food sovereignty, the environment, biodiversity, climate change, sustainability, community resilience, as well as about the positive mental implications and physical health benefits of being outside in nature and being sociable around food.”

Fast forward and 20 years later community gardens are part of a much wider international movement trying to work along with nature , a movement for food sovereignty, a movement for keeping soil fertility, restoring soil fertility, a movement that not only grows food and cultivates the soil, but builds a new food culture, cultivating peace and integration.

To my knowledge there are currently close to 280 community gardens on the island of Ireland (more information at cgireland.org/ about-the-community-garden-network/) Having helped establish community gardens, having worked as a gardener in community gardens and having volunteered in local community gardens, I

can testify to the power of these community groups in overcoming all sorts of obstacles and political divides; bringing people together with the simple goal of growing food together and by doing that are being so much more. During the pandemic these gardens were often healing spaces and most recently are healing spaces for people fleeing war and persecution.

“You think you are building a garden... you’re really building a community!”

A good few years ago I asked professional gardener Dee Sewell, who works with community gardens and has founded the Community Garden Network (communitygardennetwork.ning.com) for her top five reasons why people organise themselves around community gardens. Her answers were as valid then as they are now:

“1. They learn new skills and how growing, harvesting and eating your own food is good for both mental and physical health.

2. They learn about the seasonality of food and pick up recipe ideas and new cooking techniques.

3. They have a better appreciation of how difficult it can be to grow food without

POSITIVELY ORGANIC

chemicals and why organic food is venally more expensive at markets and shops.

4. They learn how successes and failures of growing food are normal.

5. Community gardens are available to anyone regardless of their age, vendor or social/economic circumstance.”

There are many reasons for Community Gardens

in Ireland

There are many reasons for the arrival of community gardens in Ireland, which as a more rural country has not had a history of community gardens and allotments like England and other European countries. One is the reclamation of public spaces, for example the Dolphin’s Barn garden in Dublin was established on a derelict site of some former urban allotments.

“At the time it was just a disused, overgrown area behind a factory, hemmed in by the canal and a row of houses. And so it happened that about twenty of us sat around in a circle by the canal at Dolphin’s Barn and shared our ideas for what the rough patch of land could become.”

Some community gardens have become community enterprises producing vegetables for the local market like the Glor

Na Mara community garden in Bundoran. Some gardens are initiated by immigrant communities as a means of social and cultural expression and many gardens play a vital role in integrating people from other parts of the world.

Community Gardens and the Degrowth Movement

Environmental reasons like protecting Biodiversity, as in the new Notice Nature measure for the Tidy Towns competition, have become very prominent. The ‘Notice Nature’ Award is a special competition sponsored by The National Parks and Wildlife Service as part of their campaign to reward communities who have undertaken initiatives to protect the biodiversity in their local environment. Some community gardens have wildflower meadows, insect hotels and mini orchards with native Irish apple trees. Community gardens together with food initiatives and reuse initiatives are all part of the degrowth movement, where sharing is a key concept. The degrowth movement has three common goals:

1. To reduce humanity’s environmental impact

2. Ensure wealth equality within and between countries, and,

3. Ensure a just transition to a participatory global society focused on well-being. Schools for

Gardeners

I think what sets community gardens apart from private gardens or allotments is the learning aspect: Community gardens are almost public garden schools, where participants learn about soil fertility, best varieties of vegetables to sow, how to control weeds and prevent pests and diseases.

This is a very empowering process as the skill of producing food is fundamental to human culture. Cooking sessions, summer festivals with a BBQ, harvest celebrations, twinning with local school gardens and seed swaps, are just a few features of community gardens. They are becoming a focal point in towns and cities fostering respect, consideration and empathy!

Go find your local community garden or start one yourself!

6 Add the tomatoes and 8ooml vegetable stock, salt and pepper and bring to a simmer.

7 Drain the lentils and stir into the tomato sauce, bring to the boil and simmer over a medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes or until the lentils are soft and the liquid nearly all absorbed.

8 Meanwhile, drain the potatoes and run under cold water until cool enough to hold. Peel the potatoes, then cut into slices about 5mm thick and set aside (if using new potatoes you can keep the skin on if you like).

9 Put the aubergine slices into a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and add a sprinkle of salt over it. Bake in the oven until browned and softened (around 25-30 minutes). Turn around once.

10Spoon half the lentil sauce into an ovenproof dish (e.g. 25cm/10in x 25cm/10in, height 5cm/2in), then layer half the potatoes and aubergines over the top. Top with the remaining lentils and a final layer of potatoes and aubergines.

11Put the fresh goats cheese or ricotta cheese into a small bowl, stir in the grated cheese and cream. Mix well and spoon the mixture over the aubergines and smooth out to cover the top.

12Bake in the oven for 20–25 minutes, or until heated through and golden brown.

13Serve with a green salad.

Could CoQ10 work for you?

A POWERFUL ANTIOXIDANT.

Our bodies naturally absorb and produce all sorts of substances, including vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They keep our bodies healthy and functioning properly. At certain times however, we may develop deficiencies and need to take supplements.

One of the more popular supplements is CoQ10, which some studies have found to be a promising solution to a few select health issues.

Although CoQ10 is available as a supplement, it is a nutrient that is produced naturally in our bodies. Thus, we can generate CoQ10 from the contents of our diet. Good food sources of CoQ10 include fatty fish such as salmon and mackerel, nuts and seeds, eggs, meat and soy beans. As we age however, our bodies’ ability to create CoQ10 becomes compromised. The production of this compound rapidly declines after the age of forty.

It is a powerful antioxidant, protecting your brain, heart and muscles. CoQ10 is present in almost all the cells in

the body; however, it’s mostly concentrated in the mitochondria, or the ‘powerhouse’ of the cell. That means it’s involved in energy production and powers biochemical reactions. In addition, CoQ10 has antiinflammatory properties.

Benefits

1. Oxidative stress can interfere with regular cell functioning and may contribute to many health conditions. Therefore, it is not surprising that some chronic diseases have also been associated with low levels of CoQ10.

2. Abnormal mitochondrial function can result in low energy in the brain cells and may contribute to migraine. Some migraines and headaches thus respond well to CoQ10 supplementation.

3. CoQ10 could also assist with restoring optimal levels of energy production, reducing oxidative damage and improving heart function - all of which support the functioning of the heart.

Supplementation

Converting CoQ10 supplements into a usable form in the body is a complex process. It can improve absorption to take your CoQ10 supplement with food. Choosing a manufacturer that has taken absorption into account is also crucial. The Q10 formulation developed and manufactured by Pharma Nord - one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of high-quality Q10 preparations - has shown high bioavailability in previous studies, for example the groundbreaking KiSel-10 trial from Sweden in 2013. In this study of healthy male and female seniors, Pharma Nord’s Q10 capsules given in combination with the company’s patented organic selenium yeast tablets, had a profound effect on the quality of life by a number of different parameters.

Down To Earth

DUBLIN’S GO-TO HEALTH SHOP.

Jane Smith, the manager of Down To Earth, has been coming into her father’s health food store since she was in school, and today she’s just as passionate about the business.

“I love meeting the customers; I just love everything about the business and the way it’s evolved over the last so many years,” she told us.

The shop started as a delicatessen in the early 70s, selling a small range of health foods in Malahide. It then moved to Fleet Street in the late 70s, Jane shared, before moving up to George’s Street, its current location, in 1986.

Down To Earth never stopped evolving, and about ten years ago, it opened its own homeopathic dispensary in-shop. Jane explained that all the homeopaths have their own practices and work at the shop part-time.

With over 10,000 remedies of all different strengths, they are proud to service the whole country with homeopathic remedies, including homeopaths based in Ireland.

At the onset of the pandemic, the Down To Earth team took the opportunity to expand their reach even further through the development of their online shop.

“We ship all over the world now at this stage,” Jane mused.

Even so, many customers of 30-plus years who would’ve been calling into their shop on Fleet Street still come into Down To Earth today to chat and buy their essentials.

“It’s a go-to shop,” Jane commented, “because we do an awful lot of supplements and foods that a lot of the other shops don’t do.”

As she and her assistant Emma Taylor continue to source new products and keep up with the latest health trends, it looks like Down To Earth will only continue to evolve and support us with the changing times.

THE BENEFITS OF ICE BATHS.

As more and more health influencers, celebrities, athletes and trainers endorse using ice baths to improve health and fitness, you might also be warming up to this daunting idea. Immersing yourself in ice-cold water has many advantages, especially for those who exercise or compete in sports.

According to Elizabeth Gardner, MD, Yale Medicine sports medicine doctor and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Yale School of Medicine, “Plunging a single limb—or the entire body—into a tub of cold water for 1-3 minutes is becoming an increasingly popular ritual for athletes as well as hard-core exercisers.”

The main reason is that they make the body feel fantastic, and as Gardner says, “cold immersion may be a balm to aching, burning muscles after a hard workout.” You’re also laying the groundwork for future success by allowing your body to heal, making you more prepared for your next workout.

Though the Sturdy Ice Bath is ideal for athletes, football and rugby club members and other organisation members, it can benefit just about anyone. Ice baths, or even an ice-cold shower, have been shown to help improve mental health, happiness and concentration, fostering an overall positive attitude and sense of well-being.

The long-lasting and durable Ice Bath from Sturdy Products makes these benefits accessible to everyone from home. There are handles on the sides of the container that act as stability aids when entering and exiting the Ice Bath, and a brass connector at the base of the bath for easy filling and draining. The compact size allows a large person to fit into the tub, yet it only requires around 250 litres to fill.

Healing With Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

GIVE YOUR BODY SPACE TO HEAL.

When I sat down to talk with Gary Kealy, one of the founders of Live 5D Health, a Wellness Centre in Boyle, Co. Roscommon which offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, his passion for this unique and powerful therapy was evident.

With twenty years of experience in the health and wellness space, Gary had long been aware of and interested in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), but it wasn’t until recently that he tried out sessions for himself.

“Your sleep improves pretty much straight away, and as long as you keep that oxygen saturation up, it remains, your deep sleep improves,” he shared from his experience.

Gary was delighted to discover that all his health metrics improved, and a niggle in his foot from playing soccer, which had been bothering him for two months, went away after five sessions.

Although he experienced these great benefits, he doesn’t want us to take his word for it. He emphasised that HBOT is an extensively researched field with many peer-reviewed papers that track its effect on severe conditions.

It has been around for just under four hundred years (though modern hyperbaric oxygen treatment is around sixty years old),

which is why it’s unbelievable how few people know about it. Hyperbaric oxygen chambers have long been used in hospitals and specialised units, and the army has them for divers who get the bends because there is no cure other than hyperbaric oxygen for decompression sickness.

Today, this therapy is finally becoming more accessible, and it is affordable enough to commit to the five, ten or twenty sessions you need to get your oxygen saturation up. Gary explained that once this is up, it will be much easier to maintain, similar to working out.

“A lot of the benefits are on the downtime. Because it’s oxygen under pressure, you get this oxygen saturation into your plasma, and then what you’ll get is a lot of the anti-inflammatory effects when the oxygen gets released back into your system over a longer period of time.”

For this reason, Gary recommends you do an intense block of sessions and then take a break before returning for another one. Speaking about the role of HBOT in healing, he emphasised that “Your body knows what to do. HBOT provides you with the substrate and the space for your body to cut inflammation and from there to enable it to heal itself. And that’s the way all good

therapies work.”

With innumerable benefits, including sports endurance and anti-ageing, Gary recommends this treatment for almost anyone except those with lung conditions because they will be under pressure in the oxygen chamber.

The soft-shell chambers at his riveradjacent centre in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, promise a relaxing and transformative experience for most people. Their recline machine has a mattress, a yoga mat, a bolster, pillow, which you can lie down on while wearing a headset that dispenses oxygen around your nose and mouth. They also have an easy-access machine for people with mobility issues or claustrophobia.

A treatment generally lasts an hour, and people emerge feeling refreshed, relaxed and invigorated; a few have even said they felt like they were coming out of the womb again!

“It’s non-invasive, it’s ultra-safe, and there are no side effects,” Gary affirmed, making it a no-brainer to give this effective treatment a go!

An Lár

COMMUNITY, CREATIVITY AND HEALING.

Krystian Pietrzak and his family originally moved to the area of Wicklow over ten years ago, to enable their children to attend the local Steiner School. Since then, Wicklow has not remained the same. The entrepreneurial spirit, the community ideals and the passion for the creative and holistic life displayed by this couple are an inspiration.

At first, they contributed raw, vegan food, which they had initially been making for their family, to the local farmers market. They named the company A&K Real Food. Three years later this endeavour had expanded into a café and health food store, An Lár, a place where they could offer the wider community healthy food to nourish the physical body. I remember tasting their amazing breddies back in 2018. I was hooked by the feeling of both fullness and lightness they gave me.

Having converted the café to a shop during Covid, the couple began to reverse that process, only to find that the energy was no longer pointing to a café.

FOLLOW THE VISION

“I’m fascinated with what people can do, how good we can be, how we can heal, how nice we can be, how easy a life we

can live...I want to keep going and see the miracles that can happen.”

Krystian felt he had served himself, his family and the wider community with physical well-being; nourishment and healthy food. He had the inkling that it was time now to set sights on mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. A new holistic centre was to be born – An Lár Holistic Centre.

ANSWER THE CALL

So far, this budding holistic centre has been a magnet for all kinds of creatives, artists and healers. From Marta’s yoga classes, to sound healing or art therapy workshops with Maja, there are already a variety of teachers, massage therapists and bodyworkers creating offerings, which are their joy, to the community far and wide.

Krystian is now sending out the call to all those who want to make a business out of helping others, to join the Tribe at An Lár. Here, you are not just renting a room. Instead, he emphasises, “We want people to feel at home.”

ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE

An Lár has long had the seedlings of a holistic centre at work in its energetics.

It has been a connection point for people to find what they need, for auspicious meetings, for ‘chance’ encounters.

“Everybody who needs something, if they come and they ask...even if they need a plumber, they can probably ask the community and they will find a good one with a good recommendation. If they need some sort of therapies to relieve stress, they will get it. I’ve seen people come and say, ‘Oh I’m so stressed because of this and this’ and the next moment someone arrives who can help. ‘Oh my shoulders are sore’, and Greg walks by, so I say ‘Here you go, talk to this man’. This was already happening three years ago.”

JOIN THE TRIBE

An Lár Holistic Centre is in its inner spring-time, a time of new growth, budding and blossoming. If you feel even the tiniest whisper in your soul, allow it to sing loud and clear, and see how you might be part of, or find what you’re searching for at this holistic oasis in the garden of Ireland.

Peaceful Acceptance

TRUSTING IN THE UNKNOWN.

Come on Inner Peace – I don’t have all day! This is what came to mind when I began to write this.

I am Elaine, a small business owner in a small town with a deep passion for the work I do. My journey thus far has been a fulfilling, challenging, joyful, frustrating and fascinating mix of life. The selfemployed part of my life began 15 years ago when I decided to invest in a beauty salon in the heart of Wicklow Town (after spending my working life in the corporate world and having little knowledge of the beauty business, other than waxing is a bit painful!). This investment led, many years later, to the birth of Wicklow Holistic Centre on 22 February 2020 (yes, our second birthday was 22/2/22!). The date is significant to me for many reasons. Unfortunately, less than three weeks later, I had to close my businesses for an extended period. It has been challenging to say the least, but the joy of doing what I love far outweighs any and

all of the challenges (the challenges continue but I navigate them differently now). I have learned that inner peace is a state of being. It’s not found in books, or on courses, or during treatments, or by meditating on a mountain top (or is it?). For me, it is found in the daily practice of gratitude, self-care and connection. My inner peace comes from accepting the fact that I’m perfectly imperfect, along with heart-felt gratitude for my son, my partner, my tribe, my work and my cats! My self-care can take a back seat sometimes, but I’m getting better at that too.

Innate Peace

PEACE WITHIN THE BODY.

Allowing ‘mental movies’ to pass swiftly without halting is a challenge. Minimal anxiety and certain tension are ‘normal’ things to experience when trying to achieve a state of mental or spiritual ease. This state of ease is referred to as inner peace. Many disciplines can assist individuals in attaining this state, all of which are commendable. Their purpose aligns with ours in Spinology: enhancing the vitality of human beings.

As a spinologist, let me delve into the ‘physical story’. Each cell possesses inherent wisdom that enables it to reach its fullest potential. We can ascend the ladder by passing through tissues, organs and glands, exploring body systems up to the highest rung—the whole organism. From this vantage point, we can deduce that the living body perpetually strives to maintain an optimal chemical balance. This phenomenon is known scientifically as ‘homeostasis’. Understanding the body’s physiology offers profound insights. Every life action stems from numerous perceptible chemical reactions—like the famed ‘butterflies in your stomach’ or emotional tears.

Mucklagh Lodge

MUCKLAGH LODGE.

Mucklagh Lodge has found its new “custodians of the land” - Katherine and Colin. This soulfull piece of Nature was lovingly renovated and rebuilt by the hands of its former owner, along with local craftsmen, with materials from the surrounding countryside. It is a true collaboration between wo/man and nature.

At 1,000ft high and miles deep into the Wicklow wilderness, arriving at Mucklagh, says Katherine, “is like going back in time. You feel like you’ve left the world behind when you go there.” The Lodge itself is a natural beauty; no frills and a heart of gold.

When you book, or go to Mucklagh, you have the place to yourself. A local vegan caterer is often called up to provide the nourishment, and a gorgeous ceremony room with an open fire is where the magic happens. The pull of Mucklagh lies in this seclusion, isolation and freedom from distractions. There is no wifi or mobile signal, nowhere to go except to deep dive into whatever healing,

Innate potential for inner peace operates through the nervous and endocrine systems, promoting well-being. Spinology’s role is paramount, helping the body correct potential spinal occlusions and their adverse effects, which may occur daily due to past causes and lifestyles. A communication system free from spinal interferences optimises life processes. Achieving shared aspirations of inner peace becomes feasible, harnessing inherent tools in perpetual dynamic motion. Allow me to conclude with this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.”

spiritual or joyful work one has come to do. Katherine is particularly excited to see children and teens groups at Mucklagh; forest schools, homeschooling groups or any type of work of benefit to young people who are growing up in what is now a hugely over-stimulated world. Katherine notes that children really appreciate the rustic nature of Mucklagh. It’s what they crave and enjoy the most.

So much new energy and life breath is being drawn into Mucklagh - a rebirth of sorts for both the custodians and the place itself. Upcoming retreats include a men’s sweatlodge with Michael Ryan, a yoga retreat with Maggie Dunne, Tribal Spirit Drumming and Heartsong with John Bowker and a Nature, Wild Food and Fungi retreat with Courtney Tyler.

THE GREEN CONCEPT

‘Can We Talk About Inner Peace?’

HIGHER WISDOM.

Louise Delaney asked her guides to share the meaning of inner peace with us.

“Good afternoon, Louise. Inner peace is an innate state of being and it is a human being’s natural condition when unencumbered from the noise of mind. The mind is a tool and is optimally utilised in this manner; as a tool in a toolbox. The human may access the toolbox at any time, utilising the thinking mind as a trusted friend. Without the mind, we would not have progress, innovation, systems and order in life. The mind is indeed a trusted friend. However, should the mind be allowed to run its own show, and should the mind take the unwitting lead in a person’s life, then problems may arise rendering inner peace elusive. Inner peace fades as the mind assumes too much space in the foreground.

Peace comes naturally when the human mind takes a rest and allows the intelligence of the heart to take over for a while. Peace comes when the heart expands and connects with itself, with other humans, with animals, with plant life, with the sun, moon and stars. Peace comes when the heart

HEALING STARTS WITH HEALTHY SOIL.

Tomas Dvorsky, a physical therapist and life coach has a mission to help bring awareness and change to the way we think. One of his goals is to move away from the old way of thinking, where we believed chemicals could help us grow and help animals be healthy. This is one of the reasons why he created Balance Eco Supplements. This supplement is an amazing solution for farmers, pet lovers and the equine industry. It is the purest and strongest form of humic acid on Earth with it being 100% organic, eco-friendly and chemical free. Tomas has over fifteen years of research and is looking to revitalise the whole food chain issue and bring us into a more natural way of living, instead of consuming chemicals constantly. He learned that the rock contained huge amounts of humic acid and naturally extracted 65% of it. He took an extract of the

BIOMEDIS Ireland Club

A NATURAL SOLUTION.

BIOMEDIS Ireland Club was created by Ivaylo and his partner Joanne after a long journey of seeking a solution for her painful health condition, fibromyalgia. Finally, after trying everything to relieve the pain and other symptoms of this disorder, she decided to take a more natural approach. Upon searching, she came across the BIOMEDIS Trinity device online and ordered it with hopes it would help. Miraculously, only after two days of using the device, Joanne felt much better. Ivaylo and Joanne were relieved and inspired to spread the word and share this amazing device with others.

BIOMEDIS is a non-invasive product designed to restore and promote health and vitality with safe and gentle bioresonance therapy and bioresonance scanning technology. This therapy uses the person’s own electromagnetic vibration to assist in the healing process within the body. It improves the immune system and helps fight diseases and even prevent illnesses. Like Joanne experienced, this therapy can also help with pain management and can be used alongside traditional medical practices. Their products work by emitting a frequency that balances and realigns the energy waves that cause our bodies to move

out of alignment and experience a wide range of symptoms like feeling unwell, lacking energy, experiencing pain or other ailments.

Ivaylo and Joanne created BIOMEDIS Ireland because of their passion for helping others and their empathy for the customers and community. They always go above and beyond with their excellent customer service and care. biomedisireland.com

WEST CORK WONDERS .

It’s impossible for me to imagine a more perfect place for a retreat centre than by the craggy inlets of West Cork. Rineen Wellness is perched at the root of one such inlet, close to the beautiful Skibereen.

We spoke with Julie Reed, who along with her husband Bruce, have been owners and caretakers of this wellness centre for the last 28 years. Julie and her son Simeon both practice a number of holistic therapies from the centre.

The pair will be running a number of 5-day retreats this autumn, throughout September and October, inviting people to join them from a Wednesday to a Sunday to devote time and space to create health, balance and wellness.

“It is to help people become fitter, stronger, healthier, more connected to themselves and to de-stress... Take space, take a step back and recalibrate... look at your life and see the things that aren’t working and the things that are working and how you can create changes.”

You will be offered one-to-one sessions of a fascinating therapy known as ‘Body code’ which communicates deep into the cells, the subconscious and aims to unearth what is needed to help you to heal and balance. You will be taken out into the healing hands of Mother Nature for walks and sea and sauna dips on the local beach.

For a complete picture of this awesome schedule, check out their website: rineenwellness.ie

YogaVeda Living, a yoga studio and clinic in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, was founded by Paula Herbert and David Collins who have been practicing, studying and teaching yoga for almost three decades. They’ve worked with people all over the world to help them achieve their full potential by combining their personal experiences and research of yoga and Ayurveda to bring about profound healing and restoration of health.

Nowadays, yoga has become such a huge part of our lives; it has moved from the common perception of yoga in the west as a physical practice solely revolving around the body, to realising that it is a practice for all levels of our being, from the body, to the emotions, through the mind and to the spirit.

Ayurveda focuses on a daily routine - it doesn’t have to be complex. It makes a massive difference in quality of life and health when combined with yoga. What is special about the clinic is that they offer one-to-one detox programmes twice a year. Here they use an infrared sauna which helps to sweat out toxins at a very deep level. Infrared sauna therapy improves the skin tone by dilating the blood vessels and increasing

circulation throughout the entire body. There are many benefits to this therapythese include pain relief, wound healing, managing weight loss, improving cardiovascular function and even fighting off chronic fatigue. This is a therapy that all individuals could benefit from.

You can also book online to use the infrared sauna available at YogaVeda Living. The sauna is open to the public seven days a week.

RETURNING TO LIGHT.

Ancestral Healing

Many of us are aware of our parents, our lovely grannies and grandads, maybe, just maybe, our great grandparents, at a push. However, when it comes to our physical body, our mental thoughts, beliefs, limitations, patterns and our emotional body – including deep traumas – our ancestors are super-important. In many traditions and tribes, the act of honouring the ancestors in deep respect and reverence still takes place.

In Celtic Ireland we had a large tradition of connecting to our ancestors and honouring them for their healing and wisdom and remembering them in our hearts. This was seen particularly around the time of Samhain in Celtic traditions. This is the day of the calendar that the veils are the most thin, and spirit can pass

through to offer wisdom and healing, and also earth-bound souls can be helped and midwifed over to the spirit world. This is the sacred work that I do as a keener, soul midwife.

Below you will find a ritual to hand anything you may be carrying back to the ancestors to be returned to source. This not only liberates you from suffering, but also them, and your future descendants.

Try not to think of this as you giving it back to your Aunty Mary who was a great woman, but this is more about it returning back to light.

Sacred Ritual - Hand It All Back

Set up a sacred space, burn some herbs to clear the space. I like to use Mugwort – a native Irish medicine.

Here is a prayer you can use to open the space:

“I welcome all of my ancestors here that are working in the light. I am asking for your support. I welcome my ancestors all the way back eight generations. I welcome in my spirit guides, power animals, the angelic realms, the ascended masters and anyone else who can be here as I create this sacred space.”

Place a cushion opposite you, and between you and the cushion place a lit candle.

Take a moment to call in all of your ancestors all the way back, asking that they are only from the light. When we start welcoming in the Irish lads it can get a bit rowdy!

Welcome your first generation to sit down on the cushions with you. If your parents have passed, start here. If they are still living, start with your grandparents. Begin your ceremony by thanking them individually and handing back energy through the candle to them.

As you hand the energy back repeat: “I hand this back to you now; please transmute it into light.”

Make sure to do each ancestor separately – you will be surprised how different each one feels. Continue the process until you feel lighter. Keep pulling energy and handing it through the flame. Honour all anger, rage, pain and grief that shows up. This is all to be expected.

Some ancestors may wish to gift you something for doing this great work. Finish by thanking them all, visualising them walking through a tunnel of light, happy and free.

rebecca campbell

DIVINE FEMININE CREATRIX.

Rebecca Campbell is a modern day mystic, an intuitive guide and author of some beautiful books such as ‘Rise Sister Rise’. Rebecca is a deeply creative soul. When it comes to guidance and spiritual connection, Rebecca offers so many ways to return to the innate, divine wisdom and guidance within. From podcasts, to courses, workbooks, oracles and her amazing membership portal where she has created all manner of meditations and classes, her spiritual creativity is prolific.

We met with Rebecca recently to hear her take on peace at this moment in her journey. She has just become a mother to her second child, and this initiation into motherhood is a hot topic in her daily life. Modern day mystics are those, such as Rebecca, who weave spirituality into the mundane moments of life and honour the God/dess’s presence in everything and everyone.

When it comes to peace, Rebecca speaks of it as a “constant invitation to empty out all those thoughts in the head and the messages we are bombarded with, to come into that, I would call it, grace space, which is essentially inner peace… A lot of the tools I’ve created over the years are in effort to get to that peace state.”

Nature IS grace space

Nature is Rebecca’s greatest guide, with the rose holding a special place in her heart and her journey through life. In nature, she says, “we hear our intuition so much more loudly...because I believe that nature

doesn’t have a past or a future... so I think nature invites me into the present moment which is the only place peace exists.”

Perfection IS distraction

One of the biggest U-turns away from ‘the peace state’ we can take, is striving for perfection. Again, nature shows us the way out.

“Nature holds beauty so well... if you think of a rose, it’s so beautiful in full bloom, but it’s also beautiful when it releases it petals. It’s also beautiful when it’s the bud. And I think that’s what Nature does; it doesn’t try to be in that state of perfection the whole time.”

“I think Nature has all the answers… the rose is not fearful of releasing its petals to the wind, to the winter soil, in order to bear fruit, in order to bud and bloom...”

Peace and motherhood

“Peace and motherhood...what a syllabus! Talk about a spiritual lesson!”

When a woman becomes a mother, everything she does with her child will echo generations down the line. All she has not healed will be handed on for healing and all she has healed will bring light to the journey of her descendants.

“We have been living in a patriarchal world for a long time and we are coming back into balance… From my soul perspective I incarnated into an ancestral line that has a lot of trauma around certain things that I think was a match for my soul and what it wanted to express, move

through and clear... and the bodies we are born into can help us do that.”

Life is a lesson and peace might not always show up on the syllabus, but Rebecca does have some go-to tools that she uses as practices to cultivate peace. “Intuitive nature walking – essentially nature walking, connecting with the land –it’s a conscious being… and being like ‘lead me, guide me’. Notice what season it is and essentially connect with the consciousness of nature through walking in nature.”

“Journaling is my number one go-to, particularly if it’s the mind racing.”

Get to know Rebecca

Rebecca is working on a new book, a new ancient stones oracle, a Rise Sister Rise course. In the meantime, I highly recommend checking out her website, podcast and her ‘get to know me’ freebies! We absolutely adore her.

acupuncture

A CATALYST FOR SELF-HEALING.

Interviewer: Paul Congdon Interviewee: Kathleen Dowd

We often find alternative health treatments when we most need them, just like how Kathleen Dowd discovered Chinese medicine 29 years ago when confronted with a health issue that Western medicine couldn’t fix.

Kathleen had a severe food intolerance back then, which manifested as many digestive issues and skin problems. She was getting a steroid injection every six weeks and taking a lot of stuff orally, per her doctor’s instructions. When she asked them about the long-term plan, they said she would have to do those things for the rest of her life.

Refusing this way forward, she sought something else to help her. Though she eventually removed dairy from her diet after taking the Fitzwilliam food test, she still had remaining symptoms that she wanted to heal.

When she found Chinese medicine, she became fascinated by it, and that’s when everything changed for the better. “It’s been a fantastic journey,” she told us.

Kathleen became a qualified acupuncturist in 2007 and got her qualification in herbal medicine a few years later. These practices weren’t widely accepted back then but are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

Today, Kathleen does her best to help everyone using acupuncture, from daysold infants to people in their eighties. She

shared a story about a recent client who came to her looking to cure her acid reflux after trying everything else, including acupuncture.

This woman was willing to give it one more go, so Kathleen did a diagnostic with her and decided to do a one-needle treatment.

At first, the client was sceptical; “One needle? Only one needle?” she asked Kathleen, who told her that if it didn’t work, she wouldn’t ask for payment. Fortunately, it did work, as Kathleen was spot-on in her diagnosis.

“My journey has always been to try and improve my diagnostics, and I’m still working on it,” she told us.

Like all effective acupuncturists, Kathleen has built a deep knowledge of the different channels and points in the body because, as she said, you can’t get the treatment right if you don’t have the diagnosis correct.

“The body is a map,” she explained, “You’ve got to know how to read it correctly.”

Fascinatingly, acupuncturists can tell a lot about a person, from the moment they come in the door, from their face, eyes and hair, to how they walk, speak and engage in conversation.

Kathleen says she will already have an idea of what’s going on with a person from these visual clues, but only once they are on the plinth and she puts her hands on them can she confirm if she is right.

Then, her job is “to give the body a little nudge in the right direction so that it can take off itself.”

Kathleen, who was the former chairperson of the Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association (AFPA), is a big believer in the body’s capacity to heal itself, and she wants as many people as possible to experience this for themselves.

There is a collaborative feeling of cooperation and learning among AFPA members, for sure, but there are possibilities for non-members to engage with the organisation, too. Their upcoming seminar will run from October 14th to 15th, 2023, and Kathleen encourages everyone interested in this powerful therapy to attend. To find out more, visit the website below.

mother earth’s natural money

We live in extraordinary times; the best and the worst depending on where you live, your perspective and, most importantly, your frequency. There are many challenges facing us as individuals, families, communities, nations and our beautiful, little planet.

Rest assured, it is all for our higher good in terms of our spiritual evolution as a species. It is all happening to awaken us from the soulless, 3D, material, corporate world involving technology-driven, mindless distraction and fear and greedbased overconsumption.

Consumers have been living beyond their means for many years now. This has obvious consequences for the quality of our air and, even more importantly, our precious soil and water. We are slowly awakening to this and to the need to go back to a simpler life, not based on technology and consumerism, but on appreciating what is truly important - the love of good family and friends and the simple joy of healthy, organic food and good quality water.

Less is more and quality, not quantity, will be important in all aspects of our lives in the coming years. This applies to our wealth and money too. Massive debt levels and an over-supply of currency - paper and digital dollars, euros and pounds - has led to greed, massive overconsumption and consequent environmental degradation for decades.

Mother Earth and nature is where

real value comes from and we will realise this again in the coming years. Water, food, land and metals - especially the precious metals of silver, gold and platinum - will again be valued in the coming years. As will the people and technologies that will allow us to harvest and utilise their abundance in sustainable and ethical ways.

Silver and Gold are precious metals with a God/Universe-given intrinsic value. Silver has been a medium of exchange, and the money of the people, throughout history. In Ireland, we used cows but we also used very basic, small silver coins as money.

has a number of unique characteristics, such as malleability, thermal and electric conductivity, resistance to corrosion and excellent medical properties. It has been used in holistic health care for thousands of years due to its anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties. There are huge opportunities in this space as we move into a world where natural health is valued again and humanity realises that the “kingdom of God is within”.

For the first time, people can now own freshly minted Irish silver coinsSilver Trees of Life (1oz) which are 99.99% pure silver. They are designed by Tara Coins and are quintessentially Irish. They channel the energy of the sacred Tree of Life and magical, mystical Ireland.

Hence the Irish or Gaelic word for money and the Irish word for silver is the same - ‘airgid’.

Silver has protected people from market crashes, economic crisis, famine, war and currency devaluations throughout history and will protect people again in the coming years.

Silver and gold coins have been money in nearly all cultures throughout history - from so-called primitive societies to the most ‘advanced’ civilisations.

Silver - the metal of the moon - also

Silver Trees of Life are a celebration of Éire - our land, trees, nature, the beautiful music and the welcoming energy and spirit of the people. They are a celebration of our wise ancestors and our abundant future, due to glorious Mother Earth.

Imagine a world where people once again have a natural, beautiful, energetic means of exchange and saving. Where people do not have to rely on banks, or indeed technology, in order to again exchange value for value. Where people are conscious, independent and sovereign. taracoins.com

eclipses &

new karmic themes

THE FINAL TWO ECLIPSES OF

During this autumn season, my focus shifts to the recent changes of the lunar nodes and the final two eclipses of 2023.

Lunar nodes are not celestial bodies themselves; rather, they are spatial points that exert karmic influences on the collective and can signify the karmic path in an individual’s birth chart. As a collective phenomenon, lunar nodes transition between zodiac signs every few years. Previously, from January 2022 to July 2023, the lunar nodes resided in Taurus and Scorpio. Recently, they shifted to Aries and Libra, where they will remain from July 2023 to January 2025.

If your personal planets, including the Sun, inhabit Taurus and Scorpio, you might have encountered profound karmic lessons over the past years, especially since January 2022. These lessons may have felt deeply ingrained in your psyche, as though carried over from previous lifetimes.

Conversely, for those with personal planets or the Sun in Libra and Aries, until January 2025, a window opens to release recurring karmic patterns or issues. With planets in these signs, be attuned to avenues for freeing energy, effectively breaking the cycle of karma when familiar problems resurface.

Collectively, the polarity of Aries and Libra represents Self and Other. Aries

manifests as self-oriented, determined to pursue desires autonomously. In contrast, Libra embodies an other-centered, socially conscious nature, often inclined to compromise for relationship harmony. Both energies are vital for a healthy social ecosystem. Striking a balance between self-focus and selflessness is key. You may be aware of eclipses, but you may not know they are connected to the lunar nodes. Eclipses happen on Full Moons and New Moons, and they occur every six months. The New Moon Eclipse on October 14th and the Full Moon Eclipse on October 28th, 2023, mark the upcoming events. Eclipses act as wild cards,

introducing either wonder or chaos. It’s essential to recognise that eclipse energy doesn’t uniformly affect everyone. However, if personal planets inhabit Aries and Libra, the impact of these impending eclipses might be more pronounced. Collectively, October’s impending eclipse season invites us to scrutinise our relational dynamics, delving into the interplay between self and others. Reflect on this equilibrium in personal relationships. Is prioritising assertiveness and self-focus (Aries) more advantageous, or does a focus on others and the art of compromise (Libra) require attention? However this manifests, the upcoming eclipse season and the subsequent year and a half present a remarkable opportunity to enhance how we perceive ourselves and our interactions with others.

True Trees

Our Reforestation Mission

We are joining Reforest Nation on their mission to plant 1m trees in Ireland and are committed to planting 10,000 trees over the next year.

Reforesting Ireland with native broadleaf species: Restores the balance of nature.

Promotes biodiversity. Removes carbon from the atmosphere. Each tree sequesters 5kg of CO 2 per year so this years True Trees will remove 1,500 tonnes of CO 2 over their lifetime.

Half our trees will be planted in areas of global biodiversity importance to reduce mass extinction of species and help protect local communities from the effects of deforestation.

The more True Natural Goodness we sell, the more True Trees we plant.
