I thought it might be fun to give readers the history of my camera collection over the years.

My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic 25, the most basic os 126 format cameras. Having failed my “O” levels I commiserated by buying a Practica LTL. I used that until it vartually fell apart. Next was a Yashica, I’m not sure of the model but I do remember that it had leds in the viewfinder for the metering An Olympus OM1 was next but within a month I changed it to an OM2, I loved that camera but it was stolen from my car. Whilst I owned the OM2 I bought a Mamiya 645 1000s From the Mamiya I went to the trusty Hasseleblad a 500CM A Leica M3 was next with a Nikon 50mm f1.4 lens, I took that to Crete in 1988, but when the shutter went I could not afford to get it repaired A Nikon F came next – this camera paid for itself in the first week The F was changed for an F2 then F3 – I got a second F3 so had a pair I also owned a Pentax 67, a wonderful camera, the format meant that the transparencies were effectively much larger than those from the Blad, like the Olympus this was also stolen – this time from my car on the drive of my flat. One F3 went and was replaced by an F4 Now it was time to go digital, Fuji had the S1 which fitted Nikon lenses. The second F3 went and was replaced by a D1X The S1 was replacedd by an S3, which itself was replaced by a D2x The S3 went for a D3 and the second D2x for another D3 D3’s went for D4’s and then a D3x to get an increased pixel count Currently being considered is the D850. I would of course like the S series Leica or possibly a digital Blad, but neither are within budget for the foreseeable future.
