This is your chance to take on corporate Adelaide and achieve great things together as a company, whilst having fun. Spread the word, tell your friends, clients, suppliers and see whether they are up for the challenge so you can play it forward!

Whatever the initiative everybody can have the chance to back your business and promote your activity in the two month round of the Corporate Handball Challenge.

Rod Jameson

As a Crows Foundation Board Member, it has been a privilege to work collaboratively with Youth Opportunities, and to hear the positive impact they are having on the lives of young people in our community.

Thank you for your involvement and supporting the Crows Foundation and Youth Opportunities through the 2012 Corporate Handball Challenge.

I had a bad attitude and was really angry and aggressive, and couldn’t control my temper. The Youth Opportunities Program taught me how to deal with conflict and how to communicate better.

This program has so been worth it! I have learnt to find the positives in any situation, to look at the bigger picture‌ I have set goals and am working towards being a happy, carefree and strong willed person.

The SEASON

The REWARDS

Make your mark in the community AND help to positively change it for the better CHANGING LIVES Imagine you feel alone, uncertain about the future, and unable to face the day. You have no self worth and no one to turn to for guidance and support. Now imagine you are dealing with all of this at 15 years of age. Fortunately, both the Crows Foundation and Youth Opportunities were formed to help young South Australians in need, and now you too can join us in making a difference. The funds you contribute will make it possible for young people to participate in the life changing Youth Opportunities Personal Leadership Program, empowering them with skills and self belief to overcome obstacles and progress towards positive life goals.

Engaging your staff Get them behind the cause and on the field to help your business excel in the competition YOur staff can be involved in a number of ways, such as: • Driving your businesses ‘game plan’ in the challenge by coordinating your fundraising project • Presenting to Youth Opportunities participants as inspirational business speakers • Inviting Youth Opportunities graduates to share their story and experience through a presentation to staff • Representing your business in a fun game of footy at AAMI Stadium involving YO students and past and present Crows players • Attending a Youth Opportunities Graduation Ceremony

Improving your Business Kick some business goals as a player in the Corporate Handball CHALLENGE, with opportunities for the following: • Improved branding • Media coverage • Team building • Improved employee morale • Showcasing your belief in improving our community

I never really gave myself a chance. I was just sitting back and waiting for things to happen instead of putting in the effort but now I have noticed a big change in myself.

Most innovative Player The player that displays the most creativity and innovation in their fundraising activity. The ‘most innovative player’ will be invited to enjoy breakfast with the breakfast team at Mix 102.3.

One of the great advantages of working within a football club environment is we are exposed to young players who refuse to put a limit on what they can achieve. We can all learn something from their dedication and commitment.

COACHING TIPS

COACHING TIPS

“Act as if what you do makeS a difference - it does” William James, Philosopher

FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU

KICK START YOUR THINKING

Like any sporting team, your business will have its own needs and capabilities to raise funds, and give the game its best shot!

Here are some fun fundraising ideas. You may like to choose just one or even a few, but whatever you do you are only limited by your imagination:

Some businesses will decide to secure their position in the challenge by simply donating the minimum $5,000. Others will decide to empower their staff and have them drive fundraising activities. And of course, for those who are looking to be a part of the Premiership Team or Club Champion, staff fundraising may be matched dollar for dollar with company sponsorship.

•A uction off being ‘CEO for the day’ at your business

Whatever you decide, here is your opportunity to develop staff skills, meet some memorable people, get involved in the community and have a genuine impact in the world that surrounds us.

All businesses, as a player in the competition will also have their own ‘locker room pep talk’ where Youth Opportunities staff will meet with you and your staff to assist in developing your game plan.

•G et your clients, suppliers and networks to support you through a raffle •M ouse racing: have people buy a mouse to enter in a race and take bets on whose mouse will win •D onate a portion of your profits or sales from your playing round

Since doing the Youth Opportunities program I haven’t wagged a lesson. I haven’t been fighting with my mum half as much. My teachers and parents have noticed my improvement and I feel really proud to have made these changes.

OUR COMMITMENT

OUR COMMITMENT

Our Commitment to you to guarantee fun and fair play for all: • Pre-season locker room pep talk to assist you with planning your fundraising activities • Halfway coaching session if you choose • Regular updates throughout the season • Marketing material for you to use to promote your involvement • The opportunity to ‘handball’ at a special event between every round • Celebratory event with Premiership Count and extensive media coverage • Online promotions including a dedicated campaign website • Social media marketing opportunities • Media coverage throughout the entire challenge period.

About Youth Opportunities

Youth Opportunities is a South Australian not-for–profit organisation that delivers Personal Leadership Training to young people to help them make positive choices for their future. Offered to Year 10 school students in approximately 25 schools and organisations across metropolitan and regional South Australia, the Youth Opportunities Personal Leadership Program is an intensive one-dayper-week, 10 week training program. The program engages and extends participants knowledge and skills in areas not typically part of their schooling but that are crucially important to life. This results in young people becoming more engaged in school, confident, better equipped to deal with challenges and able to exercise positive and enduring leadership in their own lives. But like a young person’s journey to a better future, we cannot do it alone. As a charity the impact we have on young people is limited only by the support we receive from the community. This means you have the power to give a young person the chance to positively change their life by getting involved in the 2012 Corporate Handball Challenge! About CROWS FOUNDATION

The Crows Foundation was born in May 2005, out of a need for the Adelaide Football Club to better manage the vast volume of requests for help and support by South Australian charities. With a charter to help children in need the Crows Foundation operates independantly of the Adelaide Football Club and is overseen by a Board of Directors who meet at monthly board meetings. The Crows Foundation’s key charter is to raise and distribute funds for children in need across South Australia (such as sick and disadvantaged children), through health, education and welfare programs. To date, over $500,000 has been donated to different children’s charities across South Australia. 100% of all funds raised are donated to charity with the Adelaide Football Club supporting its foundation by covering all administrative costs. Through the profile of the Club and the players, led by Crows Foundation Board member Jason Porplyzia, the Crows Foundation has also been able to raise awareness of numerous children’s charities in SA as well as galvanise the football community, whether it be members or coterie groups, to work together to help children in need.
