YMCA YOUTH SPORTS Skill building and character development happen here.

WELCOME TO YMCA YOUTH SPORTS

EVERYONE PLAYS, EVERYONE WINS! Sports participation keeps children physically active and provides them with positive development opportunities. At the Y, we promote the development of each athlete to reach their highest potential through skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship. Honoring the Y’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, our volunteer coaches focus on developing character as much as building athletes. That is why we do not conduct tryouts to select the best players, nor do we cut children from YMCA Youth Sports.

WHY CHOOSE YMCA SPORTS?

1. Everyone plays and everyone wins. 2. Teamwork and cooperation are keys to success. 3. We play fair and respect teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and ourselves. 4. Striving to win is an essential part of all sports, but winning is only one of many goals at the Y. 5. Smiling, laughing and good feelings are important.

Focusing on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and values is what sets YMCA Youth Sports apart from all other programs. Welcome to the Y! 2

Our mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

TEAM INFORMATION Registration: We recommend registering your player on our website at ppymca.org when registration opens. Team rosters are placed in time slots for which practice space is available. Coaches commit to teams throughout the registration season. Registration fee must be paid in full to reserve a spot on a roster. Team Sign-ups: The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region welcomes teams to sign up collectively. We encourage parents or coaches that have a pre-determined team to call or email the Sports Director at your local Y. Combining Leagues: One or more leagues may be combined with another YMCA center if we do not receive enough registrations to create at least four teams. Late Registration: While registration deadlines are established to give the YMCA Sports Department the necessary time to develop game schedules and coach meetings, we do accept late

registrations. If you have missed the registration deadline, please call your local Y to determine whether space still exists on teams. Refunds: Please be aware that a $10 fee will be applied to cancellations. Refunds are only available if a written cancellation is received prior to the first game of the season. Team Info: Team jerseys are $8 each and required for play. Each child will receive an award at the end of the season. Volunteer Coaches: The YMCA relies upon volunteer coaches to give young athletes a positive experience in the sport of their choice. We provide training to interested adults who have the desire to teach the Y’s 7 Pillars of Youth Sports and Core Values. Join our team by downloading a Volunteer Coach Application from ppymca.org and submit your completed application to any local Y.
