This summer, start a tradition of Camp Shady Brook in your family, or come back to the place you call home!

INCREDIBLE STAFF Camp Shady Brook recruits the finest staff from across the world to be role models for our campers. Staff members are mature, responsible, caring and committed to youth development. From running safe activities to knowing how to help our campers adapt to and enjoy the overnight camp experience, our staff are amazing. Each staff member is trained to ensure that your child builds confidence, makes friends, learns new skills and grows as an individual in the comfort of a welcoming and caring environment.

SAFETY • A nurse is on duty and onsite 24 hours a day. A doctor is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. • All staff are certified in First Aid, CPR/AED, Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens training. • All waterfront activities are supervised and managed by certified lifeguards. • All staff are carefully interviewed, screened and pass criminal background checks prior to being hired. • All staff participate in an intensive two-week training prior to the start of camp. • Camp Shady Brook meets or exceeds the standards of the American Camp Association and is licensed by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Early Care and Learning.

CABIN LIFE There is nothing more central to our campers’ experience than cabin life. Campers are grouped by age and gender with a minimum of two counselors in each cabin. In the cabin, our campers learn to live together as part of a community. In this small group, campers foster self-awareness, communication skills, trust and problem-solving abilities. Our cabins range from lodges with bathrooms attached to cabins to tent platforms. Call our office today to learn more or to schedule a camp tour.

WHAT WILL MY CAMPER EAT? Campers enjoy three nutritious meals each day. We strive to provide a healthy balance and a variety of foods, including vegetarian options. Special diets, allergies or other medical needs can typically be accommodated with advance notice to the chef. Simply indicate the dietary needs of your child on your camper’s health history form. If you have additional questions, requests, or would like to provide more detailed information, please feel free to contact us.

VALUES-BASED PROGRAMMING At Camp Shady Brook, we believe we provide much more than just a fun recreational experience. Through activities, staff role models and daily conversations, campers learn about and practice our four core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We believe you will notice your child’s growth in their understanding and use of these values after time at camp.

ARE YOU CAMP SHADY BROOK ALUMNI? For over 70 years, Camp Shady Brook has been home to so many unforgettable summer camp experiences and lifelong friendships. Were you a camper? Did you work at CSB? WHAT WILL MY CAMPER DO IN A TYPICAL DAY? A day at camp is filled with adventure, friends, fun and the great outdoors! Each morning the cabin group will enjoy a hearty breakfast together, clean the cabin and then participate in our “morning message” activity. The staff and campers sing songs, perform skits or tell stories about one of the four core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The remainder of the morning is filled with a schedule of activities selected by the camper or predetermined by their specialty camp. Everyone at camp will reconvene at lunch for songs and a well-balanced meal. During the warmest part of

the day, campers will have a rest period in their cabin. During this time, campers enjoy the small family atmosphere of the cabin, play cards, write letters, read or sleep. In the afternoon, campers will head to the waterfront for swimming and boating, visit the camp store and participate in activities with their cabin group. Following dinner, campers will gather for camp-wide evening activities, games and campfires. Each cabin completes their day with “embers,” a time for reflection as a cabin group. *Each weekly camp session includes one overnight camp-out, weather dependent.

Dear Camp Shady Brook Families, This opportunity you are giving your child is something that they will cherish forever. The ability for your camper to just be themselves in a safe and supporting environment is a gift that, while they may not realize it today, has the power to shape who they are for their future. Camp is a community where children are able to develop life skills and friendships, build their independence, try new activities and gain confidence that will perpetuate into their adulthood. I have been in the camping industry for my entire professional career, and am absolutely a believer in what camp can do for children and their families. We sincerely look forward to meeting your child this summer, sharing our love for the outdoors and helping your camper experience all of the opportunities Camp Shady Brook has to offer.
