Golden Aerobics

Designed to work your entire body, this class will benefit individuals who are looking for an active cardiovascular workout with intervals of strength, flexibility and range-of-motion exercises.
Tai Chi
Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 – 10:30 a.m. Assembly Room
Tai Chi has been described as meditation in motion, gentle flowing movement performed in a slow, focused manner. Anyone can participate, as Tai Chi places minimal stress on muscles and joints. Therefore, it is especially suitable and beneficial for older adults. The benefits of Tai Chi include decreased stress, increased energy and improved flexibility and balance.

Our wellness staff will warm you up and cool you down with various exercises before and after a short walk. Join neighbors and friends for good music and conversation, all while contributing to a healthy, active lifestyle.

Todd DePastino: President Andrew Jackson Wednesday, Dec. 13 7 p.m. Assembly Room
Todd DePastino continues his series on our seventh President, Andrew Jackson, perhaps the most complicated and controversial chief executive of all time. He was first to be born poor, first to be from the West, first to embrace Democracy and first to be popularly elected. He was also the first to experience an assassination attempt. We will discuss his many duels and his heroism during the Battle of New Orleans at the end of the War of 1812.

1 cup Grated carrots
1 cup Celery, minced 1 cup Onions, finely minced 1 lb. Ground beef, 80/20 1 lb. Ground pork 1 25 oz. Jar of your favorite store-bought marinara sauce 1/2 cup Heavy cream 1 tsp. Salt 1/2 tsp. Black pepper 1 lb. Wide pasta noodles, such as pappardelle, tagliatelle or any one you like Parmesan cheese

1. In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add in carrots, along with celery and onions, and sauté until they’re just tender, about 3 minutes. Add the ground beef and ground pork and cook until browned, breaking up the meat as you stir. 2. Pour in the jar of marinara sauce, along with salt and pepper and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens. 3. When the bolognese sauce has reached your desired consistency, stir in the heavy cream. 4. Remove from heat and serve over your favorite pasta. Top with freshly grated parmesan cheese. Enjoy! Takes about an hour from start to finish. Yields: Enough for 6
