Student Experience at Global Leadership Practices program - V

Life is at times monotonous and dull, one finds oneself chained to a very dull and dreary routine. One craves for change, for a variety, for a diversion from the soul-killing books, classroom lectures, homework and examinations. A cultural function provides this much desired change. Whenever we hear something like a 'cultural show', we immerse ourselves into the thoughts of alluring colourful lights,

unstoppable music, variety, diversity, DJs, and even savouring foods. We tend to bend our hunches towards participation, huge crowds, and cultural diversities which indeed gifts you a massive package of memories. Knowing people, working with them and understanding them is like the crux of every event. The cultural event for Australian delegates as a part of Global Leadership Practices program - V was held in WeSchool Bengaluru college campus in the Amphi Theatre on 22nd November, 2019. Australian delegates of Yellow Edge have been visiting our campus since past five years on an annual basis and we get an opportunity to meet such professionals and get to know about their culture. It all started with a power-packed performance by our Associate dean and professor, Dr. Dakshina Murthy’s Veena performance. It gave us an immense joy and pleasure to witness such an alluring and mesmerising form of art. The Australian delegates were all involved in the performance. We then had an Indian Classical performance by the students trained in Kathak and Bharatnatyam dance forms. The event comprised of several dance performances based on different cultural varieties from different Indian provinces such as - Bhangra, Garba, Lavni, etc. We were taken aback by the mesmerising and melodious band performance by the students. Their engagement towards the delegates was the best part of the show. We could see that the audience, students, delegates and our teachers putting their heart into it. Two of our students showcased their talented hands on Tabla and Violin which left everyone

mesmerised. We also had singing performance where we saw our students trying to connect to the delegates by singing some of the Western songs. Last but not the least, we had a Cultural Fashion Show performance which was all colourful. It was such a treat for our eyes seeing them walking all around the stage wearing those flashy, colourful, and beautiful dresses. The essence and taste of India shimmered throughout the show and it all ended with everyone enjoying and shaking their legs to some of the popular Bollywood numbers. We saw the delegates involving themselves to the fullest throughout the event. They even joined the crowd dancing and enjoying. It was fun witnessing such a great event and given a chance wish to contribute again for the same. Varsha Verma, PGDM 2019-21

“Kitchen is the place to bring everyone together”

And, this quote has been satisfied when we, the students organized the hobby kitchen on 22nd November, 2019 when Australian delegates visited our campus as a part of the Global Leadership Practices program - V. Australian delegates have been visiting our campus since past five years on an annual basis and we get an opportunity to meet such professionals and learn their culture. The day started with the hobby kitchen where 12 students participated to represent our culture’s taste and food. The food menu included – mocktails which included virgin mojitos, chaats and oreo shake. Snacks which included panipuri, bhelpuri, gobhi Manchurian, onion pakodas, mix veg pakodas, misal pav, aaloo dum chaat and green chatney. And then deserts which included shahi tukda and makhane ki lollipop. It was a great experience as the delegates also shared the kitchen and their cooking interests with the students.
