Intrigued by the pixelated charm of the cross stitch Eliane Heutschi strives to change how we see this craft. Certain techniques are used in certain contexts and for certain products. But why? Are different techniques not like different languages? A language does not restrict what we can say with it. The same is true for ancestral craftmanships/savoir-faire. Out of context they can be highly contemporary. Similar to the garments in n°1 bobbin lace, Eliane Heutschi has oversized the cross stitch, changed the materials and patterns, and revisited familiar lines such as the dinner jacket and the denim jacket.
